Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work.
It rained all night long and is still raining. Not nearly as much or as heavy as in Texas - just a steady shower that’s expected to last all day and into tonight. We could get as much as two whole inches  before it ends. I’m grateful it’s coming down fairly easily - no worries about water intrusion into the basement. The drain outside the door can keep up with it, so yay.
Much work to do today, including a few things I missed earlier. Fortunately, they’re relatively small assemblies, so the drawings should be pretty easy. And my day should zip by.
Ergo, just another day in paradise. Happy Tuesday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 91 and mostly cloudy for the day. Rain is predicted for tomorrow. I hope it holds off until after Mr. Frank’s service which is at ten a.m. Did I mention that the good people of Dawson Presbyterian Church will feed us N.O.L. tomorrow? Nummy church lady cookin’ in my future! I’m doin’ burgers ‘n fries this evenin’. JDD and Partner are comin’ over to partake just cause a homemade grilled burger with some homemade fries sounds good. Plus a cold beerverage or two to wash it all down. The other big thing today is laundry. Rah.
gigity glad you’re safe down there in Texas.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I suppose I should purtify a bit and get busy with laundry etc.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Late blurf. Have read, but not retained. Can’t brain today.
Moving is now getting to the end stages. Just need to take the old mattress and a few other bits and bobs to the tip, and I’m done (doing that tomorrow, as I’m sleeping on said mattress tonight). Then it’s Bee-day tomorrow.
I’ve hit on one minor snag though, which is that my car’s boot no longer opens. Why, I have no clue. Can’t afford to get it looked at properly right now though, as I’m in the gap between all the expensive things happening (deposit and advance rent on new flat, renting van, not having a job) and the acquiring of money (deposit on current room, deposit on rental van, student loan, all due in the next few weeks). I should be able to manage anyway, but it’s not the best timing.
Y’all were correct. Everything hurts. My doc (who I was scheduled to see anyway) poked my knee and said bursitis. We’ll see how it goes; if needed, he’ll do an injection of steroids into the knee.
As a bonus, I woke up with a migraine and have five meetings today. I’m medicated and sheveled, but not ready to face the day!
I am decidedly not happy with the empty nest…mr.trekker has some ideas about what to do next…i am biding my time right now I feel better knowing she is happy and excited about this stage…so I will surbive…just a little weirded out right now…thanks for all the well-wishes on the sd!!
Blurf! I didn’t quite achieve yesterday’s plan with staying awake, I made it to about 8pm then after dinner I know I fell asleep almost as soon as we started an episode of Criminal Minds, and I also slept through bits of Parks & Rec…went to bed at 9.45pm and was immediately wide awake for most of the night. I got up about 10am, had a shower and then waited for 'im indoors to rouse himself so we could fetch the cats back from the moggery.
After settling them back at home, listening to Shadow singing the song of his people (after having a wee in his carrier), feeding them and washing the towel from Shadow’s box, it was time to go grocery shopping so there is now food in the house.
I have a session at the gym with my trainer tonight so that means I’ll be hot, sticky and exhausted by the time I get back home…then it’ll be bed time because I have to get up at stupid o’clock tomorrow.
Congrats, gotti, I hope you win!
gigity, keep yer toes dry!
wabbit, I get the pain thing, I wrenched my ankle last week and have what I think is a bruised bone. It’d better hurry up and get better though, I don’t have time to be injured
Lunch - well, it was lunch. I’m done eating and about to get back at it. Busy day just got busier - another engineer gave me a buttload to deal with. rah!
What’cha gonna do, right?
blurfage
A lady has volunteered to sit with Miss Becky tomorrow so I will attend Mr. Frank’s funeral. As long as she’s happy that’s all that matters. Of course this now means I must get all properly suited up. I suppose I shall get through that however.
In other news, laundry is done and there are fresh sheets on the bed. Go Me!
Sitting around waiting for my door delivery (they apparently deliver the doors the day before installation (different contractors, I suppose), so they’ll sit in my garage tonight.
Also watching to see if the rain leftover from Hurricane harry makes it up to N. Ali-bama today or tomorrow.
Other than that…blurf.
FCM, seems I remember times here when you used to bemoan the fact that nobody was giving you any work to do…:p;)
wabbit, may the migrane depart and the meetings go quickly (but it won’t and they won’t…I know life, and life is named Murphy).
wrecker (at least that’s what I’m calling you), adjustment to any change, even if expected, takes time. Y’all will do well.
swampy, guess we’ve entered the stage of life where weddings and funerals are about the only time we get really spiffed up these days.
ETA: First on 2!
Just curious, did they inform you before moving or did you come home to see the moving truck peeling out? :o
It would be some trick if they could deliver them after installation!
(light) rainy day here.
It’s hubby’s birthday today. We shall be doing assorted kid-influenced birthday things. Hopefully it will not be 99 degrees Amurkin, as it 'twas yesterday.
I must also adult today. Bills and disability type thingies to do. I don’t want to adult. I don’t. Wahhhhhhhh!
**Sunny **- did you see the pics I posted of the afghans made from your yarn? On FB - I think I tagged you.
**MetalMouse **- I would rather be busy than not, but it does get a bit overwhelming when I have multiple tasks from multiple people.
OK, back to it.
Fun Party Tricks.
Drop two raisins into your friends coffee and ask him if he has a problem with rats.
I ran into a friend at the market today! It was someone I’d wanted to talk to for a while, actually, so running into him was lucky.
I still need to practice my clarinets and work on some music arranging today. And get ready for my minor surgery tomorrow morning.
Home. It’s still raining. We’re having sweet corn for supper. It’s quite chilly here - hasn’t even hit 70°!! **BooFae **- you escaped just in time!!
I’m a serial killer! I killed another mouse last night.
They must be Italian mice. They ignored the trap with cheese and went straight for the traps with salami. (It wasn’t very good cheese.)
I have one trap left that I will set tonight.
Happy Birthday, RoadRunner!
I think I missed another birthday but I’m too lazy to go back and look, so
Happy Birthday, Nettie(??)
I may have to take my new Maglite flashlight back to the store.
It’s very dim. First I suppose I should get some new batteries to try, just in case the batteries I put in it were not as new as I thought they were. Bother.
The rubber cover over the pushbutton switch on my 30+ year old Maglite wore through a couple years ago. I can still use it, but I’ve been buying other flashlights for it’s eventual replacement. I’ve bought 4 or 5 (I forget) so far, and they’ve all failed in a few months. What they all had in common was, they were all made in china. The only flashlight I’ve been able to find that’s not made in china is Maglite. So I got another one. But it’s very dim. sigh
Trivial? Yeah. Mundane and pointless? Sure. Isn’t that why we’re here?
Rented Guardians of the Galaxy Vol II the other night. It was fun, but not as good as the first one. Seemed a little off, somehow.
If he’s having coffee with you he does.
Tunes on Tuesday has their last concert tonight. They’re just a block away, so we can hear the music from our place, but I may walk over there and get dinner from one of the food vendors.
When I was a wee little nut, I had, via my Dad’s work (at which he used to sneakily babysit me and the bro), access to several thousand (mostly white) mice. One of mine and the bro’s earliest science experiments, involving a couple of hundred of said white mice and my lunch, was testing the hypothesis that mice love cheese. In every single cage in which we put a bit of cheese and a bit of bread, chocolate or crisp, the cheese was passed over in favour of the other delicacy. Some never ate the cheese at all, some nibbled on it a bit, one or two ate most.
These were extremely inbred lab mice, which maybe are not representative of the wider mouse population, but they definitely did not like cheese. It was cheap Cheddar, I’ve never had the inclination to repeat the experiment with other cheese varieties, as I am already aware that I do like cheese.
Burgers with all the fixin’s and fries have been consumed. I even made a peach cobbler and had some niller ice cream to go with. JDD and Partner really enjoyed it so yay. They had been up to see Miss Becky most of the afternoon. They have gone. JDD says all he wants is to take a shower and chill. Can’t say as I blame him. This is such a stressful time.
Midget may the surgery and recovery go quickly.
‘Tis attemptin’ to rain. I just want it to hold off in the mornin’. Appropriate/inappropriate appendage crossage is appreciated.
