Where are you buying Two Towers from?

Munch - There were several scenes in the extended FOTR such as the Midgewater Marshes, Bilbo mentioning taking in Frodo after his parents died, etc., as well as a further explanation of mithril and some extensions of battle scenes.

As for the TTT extended edition, there is to be a flashback scene introducing Denethor, more ent scenes, and maybe even Huorns.

By the way, I’m renting the theatrical version, buying the extended. Preordered from Amazon.

PS - Sorry about the double post. My finger slipped. Hot & humid in the old Midwest today.

I’m well aware of the added scenes. I was asking about scenes from the theatrical release that aren’t in the Extended Edition, which Mama Tiger made reference to.

Wait, I misread her initial post. She misstated that the theatrical release was cut, and then restored in the EE, which I don’t think is true (rather the added scenes were just that - added). Could be wrong, though. Either way, my bad.

I will not buy the theatrical Two Towers. I’m waitin’ for the super-extend-o version.

Woo-hoo! Wal-Mart is the way to go, at least here in the bay area. Got my copy half an hour ago for $14.44. That’s less than Circuit City, who’s selling it for $14.99.

Popcorn and hot dogs for dinner - we’ve got movie sign!

I just picked my widescreen edition up at Future Shop as an impulse purchase for $21 Canadian. It came with a “Lord Of The Rings” calendar.

$21CDN = Approx $15 US.

I also bought “We Where Soldiers” for $15CDN at the same time.

I may be the only Tolkien fan in the world who prefers the theatrical version of Fellowship of the Ring. I felt like most of the added scenes didn’t add much other than running time and hurt the pacing of the film. I’ll make an exception for Galadriel’s extended footage, which I felt provided a much better sense of her character. For the most part, I’d rather have all the deleted scenes included as extras, rather than spliced into the movie.

I have a feeling it may be different with TTT, since that seemed a bit choppy and incomplete to me when I saw it in the theaters. It looked suspiciously as if Peter Jackson was thinking this version didn’t matter so much because he could fill everything in in the extended version. Nevertheless, I’m going to pick up the theatrical version soon.

I’ll be getting my DVD at a Blockbuster about a mile from my apartment, for the same reasons given by others above.

I may well buy the theatrical version now and sell it when the Extended Version arrives. I figure if I buy the theatrical version for 15.99 at Best Buy, I can sell it at FYE for $7.00 (what they usually give me for new DVDs), I’m only out $8.99, which is a fair rental price for a DVD for three months.

I bought mine at a Tesco Store last Thursday, was well Impressed!!! it was €32.99.

Then I went to work on Sunday and saw it for €26.99.

Wasnt so impressed.

Still though, delighted I have it:D

You misunderstood me. I knew perfectly well that an extended version was going to be released, but originally figured that it was just going to be a slightly spruced up version of the usual “7 DELETED SCENES!!!” stuff on most DVDs these days. Plus, I hadn’t really been too much of a fan of “behinds the scenes” documentaries prior to seeing the Extended Edition of FOTR.

In other words, I saw FOTR:EE something worth renting, but not really worth an extra $15. I’m quite willing to admit I was wrong there; hence, I won’t be doing that again.

I bought it at Blockbuster. I intend on buying all of them as soon as they come out, and then buying a boxed set of the extended editions when all three movies are released.

New Line keep saying there not going to do that, a box set of the extended DVDs I mean, drm. I cant foresee the suture so I have no idea if this is true or not, what I can say though is that if they offer something new on a boxed set of LOTR, then I would definately buy it too, dispite having six DVDs at that stage.

Cant foresee the Future either… sorry stupid looking typos!

Picked mine up at Wally World for $15. Stayed up way past my bedtime watching it.

yawn

Didn’t get to watch all the extra stuff, but did watch the 10 minute behind the scenes preview of ROTK. Can’t wait!

I just rented TT too, and am waiting for the extended edition. I made the ‘mistake’ of buying the first FotR because I simply couldn’t wait, but I haven’t even touched it since last November when I bought the EE.

Heheheh! I got mine today at the bx for $19.99!

Piss! Our disc was faulty and kept hanging up and skipping. The disc with the extras played fine, though, so it’s not our machine. We have to wait another day or two until we can exchange it! But we did watch the ROTK preview, and that was cool.

Id probably rent it at Longs for 99 cents.
