It’s been well over a month since I’ve posted with any regularity. Sure, I’ve dropped a bon mot or two, and slung a bit of knowledge in the past 5 weeks, but I’ve been quite rare in these parts. Here’s the Reader’s Digest version.
The first week in April I was at a conference in New Orleans. Great food, great people, expensive!!! I would have announced it in case any near-NO dopers wanted to meet me so they could laugh amongst themselves later, but conditions were such that I wasn’t sure how long I could stay in NO, so I couldn’t commit to any plans…
The situation was… Mrs. Spritle had been going into early labor off and on since January. The due date was April 28 and she was scheduled for a C on the 18th. With the problems she was having, there was a real chance she might go into labor while I was away and I’d have to jet home ASAP.
All was well and there was no jetting home quickly for me. I returned to work the second week of April and had two huge projects that had to be finished before I left on the 17th. Lots of work and lots of overtime and no time to post.
Ethan Brady was born on April 18th!! I’ve spent the last two and a half weeks on “paternity leave” and have had the most wonderful time not sleeping. I just returned to work this Monday (Mrs. Spritle’s Birthday) and have been pretty busy catching up.
That’s all. You may now go read some “real” threads.
It’s not yet official, but The Littlest Doper[sup]TM[/sup] title will stay with David (since he’s had the title for 19 months now) and Spritle the younger will be Even Littler Doper[sup]TM[/sup]. I’ve registered the title in case it becomes official. If it doesn’t I’ll just sell it for a bajillion dollars.
Oh, and the pictures would be… some digipics on my computer and some on film - yet to be scanned. Unfortunately, my “old” msnhomepages website won’t recognize my login so I can’t edit/update it anymore. I’ve yet to find a free site that’s easy to use, nor have I had the time to look much into figuring it out. Maybe one day I’ll get my act together.
Of course, if you’re offering, I could e-mail the pics to you and you could make a website…
OK, so you can determined who wins the SDMB pool, he was 8 lbs. 12.4 oz. (I think that was something like 3.9 kg) and packed it into 20 1/4 " - quite the bruiser, he is. Looked like a linebacker - a little pink one.
Mom is doing well. Having a planned C seemed to treat us both much better than David’s 25 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, emergency C did. We actually got some sleep the night before and Mom’s abs weren’t rocked from all the contractions. Recovery has been easier than with the first. She actually drove Monday (against my wishes, but somebody had to pick up TLD from daycare.)
Dad is positively beaming. He’s also damn bleary-eyed. TLD got a cold this weekend (as did mom) and he and ELD have been trading off “awake times” during the night. Friday night I didn’t fall asleep until 2:30 am with both of them tag-teaming us.
I didn’t realize that Mtgman had logged in, sorry. I wish I could do a website for you but I doubt that I will have time since we are due in about a week and a half.
Glad that everything worked out well. Hope everyone is feeling better after the cold. That can be real tough, especially with a little one and then with the new little one.
