The problem is that he condescends everyone else for not understanding “the obvious” but then turns around and says crazy shit. That’s not going to fly in any debate.
It also doesn’t help that he dodges most of the hard-hitting questions.
james 1. has dubious circumstances–i dont know exactly, but when i mentioned him being a sock before, his immediate reply was “hey, HE only posts in THIS thread. I post in others.” i guess you can go through someone’s post history, but he also just joined this forum for that thread and his first posts were in defense of Anthem. He joined right after anthem, yet was keenly aware of anthem’s posting habits. it’s weird. finally, when someone said something about him defending anthem–and how wrong anthem was–he bandwagonned making fun of anthem til he was mod-warned, then went back to defending Anthem afterwards. all that–wtf.

The bit about 2+2=4 but 4 not necessarily being 2+2 was just funny. It’s at the point where the certainty is 99.999% that he’s a troll and as such that was a hell of a good twist. Because it makes intuitive sense because 2+2=4=3+1 and 2+2 is different looking from 3+1(albeit mathematically exactly the same). So people who think form is function fall for it.
The remaining 0.001% possibility is that Anthem(0) is serious and believes this nonsense, in which case it’s so sad you just have to laugh so you don’t cry.

my last post in the main thread talks about the numbers, with his own quotes for clarity. he basically argued math was an actual physical journey and the 2 you ‘arrive’ at with minus negative one has a more arduous journey than one moving ONE step up to two, and in the travails absurdities in physics is born. he said something like “the answer is sizably more and requires more evaluation.” something like that.
it all made more sense when i tracked closely his own words–“sense” meaning what he was saying became clearer and more demonstrably false.

Anthem(0) really did explicitly state that getting from 1 to 2 via the 1-(-1) route was a longer distance than 1 + 1. He even said the trip passed through infinity.

What is it about this “theory of everything” that these people think’s so great? Is it all complete ramblings or is there anything to their theories that even sounds good? I ask because I’ve never heard of it before and reading a few paragraphs of it is all I can bare.
Good questions. First, a theory of everything would be great because it would unify general relativity and quantum physics. Wikipedia is a good place to start on that.

I think you missed my point. I think he’s posted this tripe somewhere else before, possibly many places. So he’s not really producing it fresh, as it were. He’s fielded all the questions before, so he just cuts and pastes the parts he needs, when he needs them.
I stand by, “a troll with cut and paste skills”, and nothing more.
In that case, this is the first time he’s posted any of it on a site that is indexed by Google. As a fun experiment I randomly sampled several of his posts and all of the searches lead right back here to his thread in GD. He certainly posted the OP on a handful of other sites, but I can find no evidence to support the idea that it is simple copy/paste job.
If he’s a troll, he’s a remarkable example of the breed. He’s also awesome at covering his tracks.
