Where’s the new MMP. Wake up Mumpers MMP

Up now and have been sheveled. Dog and cat fed. Dog walked. Later I’ll go to church and then come home and watch some more GOT.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Vacuuming Day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOOOOOMMMMM!!!

How does OYKW feel about that. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:  :stuck_out_tongue:

: crosses appropriate and in appropriate appendages for Casa Butters :

My CU won’t accept rolled coins. They have a machine that is free for customers.

My CU won’t take loose coins, and don’t have a counting machine. My primary CU (which I no longer go to in person because it’s 1,200 miles away in a secured federal building) did not accept loose coins, required members’ account number on each roll. My local CU does not require account numbers on the rolls, which was a pleasant surprise the first time I made such a deposit.

Oh – I picked up some more penny and quarter wrappers yesterday. I think I have about $15 in pennies, and maybe $15 in quarters that need to be wrapped. There were also 24 Suzies in the pail. I think that’s one short of a roll, so I didn’t roll them or get a wrapper. (I have a little velvet, drawstring bag in a drawer. I think it has 40 Sackies in it.)

Happy Sunday!

Happy Birthday FCM!

Chilly 18 degrees at the park this morning.
My dogs were so excited. Their friend Lily was so happy to see them. Her pudgy butt can really move when she is excited.
Lucy was typical Lucy, just hiding out in the trees looking for squirrels.
So much ice though. The ramp from the parking lot was all ice, and all around the pavilion was ice.
It was nice to talk face to face with friends.

One more thing back to normal.

I don’t think I posted in last week’s thread, but I was determined to squeak into this one’s! Unfortunately, there’s no way I can read 245 posts and still have the energy to write one of my own. C’est la vie.

I think certain branches of my CU have coin machines, but they’re all in Maryland and it’s been years since I’ve been to one in person. I used to keep my change for vending machines, but now those kinds of snacks aren’t a thing for me anymore…one of these days I might have to suck up the fee and use the local grocery store’s Coinstar machine.

Post-op life is going pretty well. Tomorrow will be 9 weeks, and I’m down 27 pounds since surgery…I’m less than a pound away from weighing under 200! I don’t remember the last time my weight started with a “1,” but I should be there by the end of the month. :crossed_fingers: And at last week’s check-in with the nutritionist, I got the green light to advance from soft/mushy food to all kinds of solid food (yay!). There is still some trial-and-error involved with eating (e.g., learning my tolerances for sugar amounts and portion sizes [with very unpleasant consequences]), but it’s been really nice to be able to reintroduce things like nuts and watermelon and corn.

A couple of weeks ago I had labs done and saw my primary care doc, and was frustrated/disappointed to discover that I still need medication to help control my type 2 diabetes. The doc said my body is likely just taking time to “let go” of its insulin resistance; she thinks as I keep losing weight, eventually I won’t need anything. But I’m only on 1 medication vs the 4 that I was on before, I’m off any blood pressure medication, and she cut the dosage of my cholesterol med in half. So, I’m definitely – if slowly – getting healthier. Next labs will be in early March, when I follow up with my surgeon’s nurse practitioner.

My jazz festival performance is just under a month away: the band is booked, my set list is nearly finalized, and a few friends have even bought their tickets already! And my volunteer committee is planning to use my show as an excuse for a social gathering in the hotel restaurant afterwards. I’ve been on this committee for 1.5 years and none of us has ever met in person (only via Zoom), so it will be really great to finally meet some folks – even if they only show up for the social and don’t go to my show.

I’d planned to start going to the office every T/W/TH beginning this month, but so far either weather or medical appointments have kept me from going in all three days. This should finally be my first three-day week. It might be one of the last, though, because omicron has made life in the office even more sad than usual: the lunchrooms are now closed (we have to eat at our desks), and you have to either wear a mask all the time or be in an office alone with the door closed. Spending all day in a room by myself with the door closed makes me wonder WTF I’m doing there…at home, at least I have my dog and my kitchen! One of the other managers is there every Wednesday, and I might start only going in on those days.

I have resumed my efforts to get a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI). It’s a very common certification for project managers, and is required for a lot of positions. Luckily, my company offers free exam prep courses twice a year: I take it in October, but hadn’t known that you have to apply to be able to take the exam and have to demonstrate a certain amount of related experience (4400 hours) and training (35 hours) – and my company requires PMI to approve your application before you can take the course. I could have pulled the experience together, but I had 0 hours of related training and there wasn’t enough time. The next company-sponsored course starts in a month, and right now all I need to complete my application are more training hours (I’m a little more than halfway there; I have a plan for the remainder). At least I’ll be able to apply in time for this course…hopefully my application will be approved without an audit! :crossed_fingers:

My clock says 12:43 PM ET, so…Happy Birthday!!

My feet are too ticklish to allow someone else to handle them, but I do get my fingernails done about every month or so, when a fill is needed on the fiberglass (all the hand sanitizer the last couple of years trashes my natural nails). Hair needs to be low-maintenance for me, since I’m not enough of a morning person to want to spend a load of time on it. Makeup’s very rare, since I find it quite inconvenient to try applying eye makeup with my nose nearly touching the mirror (and contacts don’t work out for me. I’ve tried several times).

I let Domino’s make lunch. Shortly, I’ll assume the afghaning position and finish the babby blanket.

Thanks for all the b-day wishes. As usual, it’s low-key day. It’s rare that I do anything special. FCD threw me a surprise party once, and waaaaaaay back in the 70s. a friend did also. But growing up, birthdays meant you got to pick what was for dinner, what kind of cake, and you got $3, which was a decent sum in the 60s. We never had birthday parties with friends - I think partly because gift obligations could get expensive. I honestly don’t recall ever going to a friend’s party either. Weird.

OK, time to pick up hook and yarn.

I finished breakfast, but Wifey is still eating. I made omelettes with sautéed mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and ham; and cheddar cheese.

Happy Birthday Moommmm!

Happy Birthday, Mom!!! I vaguely remember 68.

I’ve been going to the same barber for 30+ years. He’s semi-retired and only works 2 or 3 hours a week. I wouldn’t know what to say to a new barber. “Just get it outta my eyes”?

Hope you get the house you desire Butters. I’ve seen those little scooters around and they look like fun.

I had a pedicure once. It was okay, but not something I want to pay someone for going forward.

I have a 5 gallon carboy in my closet with about 8" of change (and $2.00 bills) in it. I need to decide what to do with it. When I was a kid, my Dad would go to the bank on paydays and get $50.00 worth of pennies and we kids would sit around the kitchen table ad sort the pennies for him. Then he’d look them up in a little book he had. He’d read somewhere about somebody finding a penny that was worth a bunch of money. The most valuable one he ever found was worth $13.00 though. Still, it was fun.

Good news on your weight loss and all Misnomer. (I’ve forgotten your nickname, sorry.)

Yesterday the Daughter Unit brought over their trailer and Wifey and I spent 3 or 4 hours tossing garbage out of the garage into it. (It wasn’t garbage when I stored it away, but it is now. We want done with this move.) Anyway, I’m a little sore this morning.

My only plans for today are to poop-scoop the backyard and put out the trash and recycling.
And go to the store for potatoes and onions.

Seems like enough.

The prescriptions are picked up, the car gassed up and a couple of binders purchased for the next studio project. The charro beans are yum and I need to make cornbread more often.

When I took Nelson out this afternoon, the new neighbor was coming in with Sully (who I understood the name as Zoe originally). I let Nelson off leash for a short time for supervised play with her.

Howdy Y’all! I am officially un-Vestried and no longer church janitor Junior Warden. It’s all over but the shoutin’ so… RAH! RAH! RAH! SIS! BOOM! BAH! Now it is all over. I got a fifty dollah gift certificate to Newk’s so we can go have a couple of nice N.O.L.s with that. I almost suggested that today, but instead we came back to da cave and had sammiches. I was just ready to go home after bein’ there almost four hours today. Chili 'n fixin’s with cornbread for sup hit the spot on a coolish day. The biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. All is well.

Oopsie congrats on the weight loss and movin’ on to solid foodstuffs!

sari glad there was less park drama and the doggos got to have a good time.

Taters, I think we should call you Spuds, no worries. My term was up on the Vestry, thus I could not be talked into anything again. Matter of fact, I am not even eligible to be nominated to the Vestry for two years. The bylaws say that, so mote it be!

Interesting - there’s a Newk’s between here and my mom’s. We may have to stop there one day…

Day is done. Other than monitoring the ice maker, I ain’t doin’ nothin’ for the rest of the evening. See ya’s in the next MMP!!

After 2 months of red, watery eyes and blurred vision, I’m finally starting to see fairly well. My eye doc put me on Visimox antibiotic drops and took me off all my glaucoma drops for a week, then put me on a preservative-free glaucoma drop. Just in the last couple of days, the redness is waning, and I can see to type without squinting.

Normally, I read a lot, and I do word puzzles every day. I had to cut back to the NYT crossword with a magnifying glass. I was getting very depressed. I was worried I was never going to get back to normal. Even though it was a struggle, I kept up my streak of 430 days of the NYT crossword. I haven’t gotten back to books yet, but I’m starting to catch up on newspapers and some of my regular puzzles.

I feel like I’ve turned the corner.

Nott Mine eyes have gotten badly, to the point that when playing trivial pursuit with family oven Christmas, my dad handed me a magnifying glass to read the cards. I s’pose I gotta suck it up and get some bifocals.

Evening all. I see that I have been remiss, just other things occupied my time this morning, then eating out at Outback, then the first tackleball game, and just never got to it. Nothing much exciting happening anyway, just another quiet Sunday. Did get my packages with the soccer goalie gloves, the gloves I had for the kids were getting pretty beat up, so I splurged and got some slightly more expensive ones. Only one package still outstanding.

Probably stop by the AT&T store tomorrow and check out their phones/phone plan. I also plan to make a decision about joining a gym (I’m pretty settled on which one, just need to do the paperwork). Laundry will also come due sometime this week as my underwear drawer is getting near the bottom. So hopefully I will have things to talk about next MMP.

Happy Birthday Moooooommmm. About 8 months older than you (my 69th will be this April). But at our age, who’s counting?

swampy, my congratulations on being de-Vesterized.

Seanette, keeping fingers crossed you get that house; after the miserable time you’ve had in recent months, you’re due to catch a break.

Oopsie, good wishes for All That Jazz and meeting your virtual friends.

Sari, glad that it appears the dog park drama is winding down.

shoe, just be glad you got out and among folks. And second your plan to look ‘dolled up’ for work tomorrow.

Regarding haircuts, I don’t have enough to be worth specializing, so I go to the local Great Clips, who at least have my preferences (such as they are) in their computer system. And in regards to change, I only save pennies, and usually roll them for the bank. Got about $4.00 worth now, maybe take them in next time I am at the Credit Union.

OK, need to watch some more tackleball and forage for some nutrition. All ya’ll have a great night and I’ll catch you on the next MMP/

Silly rodent, am I really THAT generic that I’m so easy to mix up with other MMPers?

@Buttercup_Smith is the househunter.

Mrs. L.A. liked the Lebanese-recipe kafta, tzatziki, and English cucumber with Roma tomatoes and feta salad. I had one ginnintonic before/with dinner, and now I’m having some red wine. Goo likes feta. I don’t know if she likes kafta because I didn’t give her any.

Forgot, Happy Birthday, FCM.
