Aaah, I have an exceptionally silly day lined up on tuesday- due to having random gut pains, I’m having a blood draw and a scan. I had to book them both seperately, there was a long wait, and very few available times, due to the holidays- the first slots were both the same day, one for the morning on tuesday 2nd, one for the afternoon- and guess when I’ve just been invited to an interview? Smack bang in the middle of the two.
So now I’m going to have to just hope the vampires are running to schedule, then if they are, leg it to an interview an hour after my appointment, then try and make it on time to the hospital at the other side for town for a scan…
In other news, it’s bleedin’ snowing! Silly, silly weather.
I don’t think that page is a live feed. I think that picture is a link to the live feed, which you can tell is live because it has a clock that ticks.

WHY can’t I get up early?! Actually, why can’t I even get up on time? It’s a good thing my boss doesn’t care, but it’s terrible that I’m between five and ten minutes late every day. And if I would get here an hour earlier I could leave early. I’m awake, I just don’t want to get out of my warm comfortable bed.
Lunch break! I spent 2 hours in my studio and got quite a bit done. Everything is drying with the aid of a fan - I need to turn the pieces in an hour or so. Meanwhile, I think I’ll knit and crochet some pieces with interesting patterns and textures for some slab rolling experiments. It’s chilly in my studio, so I’m going to sit up here where it’s warmer. I see some Netflix time this afternoon.
Yay! I will be going back to work at the uni (different dept, of course) after the easter break so that’s good news for my bank account.
Nuts, that is one very nuts day indeed. Appendages will be crossed for your interview though, and I hope you make it after the vampire attack without too much damage!
Nothing exciting happening here yet, I went grocery shopping this morning which I don’t normally do on a Wednesday. I found the place full of a bunch of mothers who seem to have misread “supermarket” for “creche” so I was equally glad to leave.
It’s pub night tonight, that will be nice as we’re off to a little country pub that always has a good choice of real ales. And since I’m not at work in the morning, I will get a lie-in until one or other of the feline terrorists decides I have to get up and open tins.
I’m with you, Gig. I now have to pee in a cup twice a year so I can get my ADHD meds. I reset that the government is making my doctor act like a cop, and it’s apparently a blanket requirement, so it punishes the good doctors along with the Dr. Feelgoods.
This morning the tech came to do a ‘free product recall repair’ on the washer and I have the moving/packing pre-move survey folks walk through house to see how much crap we have to pack.
I am going to eat lunch then head into the office and fax off my ‘please the short sale was out of my control due to the massive housing crash in CA and my needing to remain employed so I had to relocate with work’ letter to the mortgage company. Fingers crossed it goes through.
Yeah payday was achieved, the Captain shall go to the commissary and refill the ships holds as they were getting a little sparse, yes I shall stock up on TP in accordance with Mumper rules.
I am finally coughing up the ick outta my lungs and am breathing again
Thanks for explaining how I was supposed to be using that link, Silver Tyger. The ticking clock lets me believe. Not that it will help be get to bed at a decent hour.
Should I send morning wake-up thoughts as a token of appreciation?
And speaking of sleep and waking - damn,** VunderBob**. Dreaming about insomnia is just weird. I’ve only ever heard about (and done) the dreaming that I woke up thing. May you be free of further dreams of not sleeping.
Now I’m trying to remember a lucid dreaming cue that I read about. Was it moving your eyes back and forth three times? Or am I conflating?
Anyway, if you could manage to lucid dream that you were having insomnia, you’d know that you were dreaming and could relax and enjoy it. You could float, or fly, or go to a party. You could chat with the other partiers, saying “I’m dreaming that I have insomnia. That’s why I’m wearing these footed jammies. What are you dreaming?”
I just had a really good PHD sighting. Such things seem to be a bit more rare these days. It looked just like the picture except brunette. I should roam up to the lobby of the employment office more often.
Jim I am indeed proud to know that you plan to stock up on TP.
Here comes the rain!
Beating on my closed and now locked window.
All y’all keep your fingers crossed for me would ya?
I find a house I really want to rent. The nice lady at the real estate office said she thinks it’s already been rented but you never know.
I hope it’s the right house, for the right reason.
You see, the SO and I live over an hour away from each other. What with him being a trucker and he never knows his schedule our biggest issue is we don’t get enough time together.
He already wasn’t real comfortable coming here even before the HFH moved in and knowing that my sister refers to him as a n!@@%* hasn’t helped any.
He has his own place but he let his aunt move in with him and she hates white people.
So between the distance the the living arrangements it’s put a serious crimp in our relationship.
At one point we were looking for a place to get together but couldn’t find anything that met our needs that we could afford.
We both have dogs, I have one kid, he has 4 (one is an adult so not an issue) and he needs a garage for his race car. He also has a lawn service and has a snow plow attachment for his truck, so he needs a lot of off road parking. He also likes to have a place where he can park his rig. Not really his rig, but he likes to be able to drive it home.
Well, he lives in Montgomery County which as unbelievable as it sounds, is even more expensive than Anne Arundel County. Right now he is paying $3300/month for a big house with lots of parking and a one car garage.
I just found a 5 bedroom, 3 bath house on 95 acres with a 5 car garage for
are you ready…
can you believe this…
$1150/month.
I know his lease is coming up and he is talking about moving.
I don’t know if he is willing to go to Washington County but it’s only about 30 minutes from where he lives. To save that much money and have that much privacy I would.
While it’s a little more than I want to spend I can cover the rent by myself, which doesn’t mean I would be but if my name is going to be on the lease I want to be able to pay it by myself. I’m anal that way.
So I am trying to get a hold of him and waiting for the agent to call me back.
So the house could already be rented and he may not want to leave the county he lives in, but I hope it all works out.
Well THAT was interesting. Had the nice lady eye doc laser 40 holes into my starboard ocular unit this morning. She sounded like Tim the Toolman, minus the grunting, as she kept calling out for more power. Eye almost back to normal.
Only problem is they put a blue dot over the eye to get blasted. Next time folks, skip the Sharpie!
They’re putting together my new desk right now. It’s frikking huge. It’s like a giant receptionist STATION. I suppose at least this way people won’t miss it.
I’m not looking forward to moving. I just pinned up the stickers I got from the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund!
I’m working on the conlang. I fixed a bunch of words that I’ve been putting off and I could probably fix all the rest that are left, except that means doing the overhaul of the family terminology that I’m not sure how I want to conquer.

The most disturbing picture I’ve ever seen on Facebook is a guy holding the bloody corpse of his miscarried daughter shortly after delivery. Suffice it to say I no longer know this person.
Got my taxes back today. I’m getting a whole $5 back from the Feds and $18 back from NC. This is the first time in my memory that my NC refund was more than my federal.
The most depressing thing I’ve heard in a long time: a guy I work with was speaking to the father of a deaf kid who died. Whatever caused him to be deaf caused him to have strokes, lose his vision, his immune system and the feeling in every part of his body save his face. His father talked to him by drawing letters on his cheek.
