I am planning an outdoor event for November 18th in New York City. I’d like to know what sort of weather typically occurs on that date in that town. I’d like to know highs, lows and average temperature; the likelihood of rain or other precipitation; wind speeds; and clearness of skies. Is there a way to find such information?
You can try the Old Farmer’s Almanac Weather History Search, which gives the weather history for thousands of locations in North America for any chosen date between 1946 and the present. You might have to look up a few successive November 18ths to get an idea of typical weather patterns then, but it should give you the information you’re after.
I find weather underground’s history search to be quite useful.
- Go to www.weather.com (the Weather Channel).
- Enter a ZIP code in the “Localweather” field near the top.
- Click on Month on the right side of the gold bar that stretches across the page near the top.
- This will give you the record highs and lows for a particular date. To get the averages,
- Click on Averages in the gold bar at the bottom of the table.
- Click on Table Display at the top of the new table.
- Click on whichever month you want along the left side of the new table.
Here is the NWS site & page to get you started. They have a boatload of info, so poke around & I’m sure you’klll find something good. SInce that date is only a few days aay from Thanksgiving, you can use the holiday report to get a pretty good wag.
So, for New York City on November 18:
