Which actors do you dislike to watch?

Tom Hanks. Ever since Big he’s been one of my favorite actors (plus he seems to be a genuinely nice guy).

Also good as the slow witted real estate agent in Glen Garry Glen Ross.

Three pages and no Robert Downy Jr.? Geez, I hate this guy.

Kevin Klein even manages to ruin “Bob’s Burgers” with just his voice.

Jim Cary, Jack Black… Feh!

Oh my goodness then, I will have to find it. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to!

Oldies: Fred Macmurray and Henry Fonda. Also Jane Fonda, George Hamilton, Jack Palance and Whoopy Goldberg. Now: Adam Sandler, Ashton-how-do-spell-it, Denzel Washington, Lucy Liu, Leo Dicapprio, Will Smith and Quentin Tarantino.

Wow. Tough crowd.

Mac looks too hard while Henry looks too soft.

I’m guessing you are not of the generation that grew up watching My Three Sons?

I am.

Hmm, well I always thought he was a big ole marshmallow and was shocked when I saw some of his heavier roles.

Other than “My Three Sons,” I think you’d be hard put to find more than a handful of light Fred Macmurray roles. He played a lot of real assholes, none assholier than his character in “The Caine Mutiny.” One wonders who thought he was a great choice for the lead in MTS. As counterintuitive as it seems, he and the show were a hit.

Before “sound of music,” Christopher Plummer was pretty a-holic. Maybe that’s what you mean.

It’s this one, *Secrets Exhumed.

Julia Roberts (GAG!) has been awarded an Oscar. What’s your point?

Looks-wise Charlize Theron is DA BOMB! I’d take her lesser self over Julia Roberts at her best ANY day!

I’m so glad there are other Robin Williams haters. He and Jim Carey are in the same category.

I can’t stand Kathleen Turner. Her husky voice is annoying, and she has gray teeth.

I’ve only seen Jeremy Piven on Mr. Selfridge, and that was enough. No more! As I’ve mentioned here on The Dope in the past, his acting is less natural than Jon Lovitz’s *ACTING! *on SNL.

De gustibus, I guess. Despite her internet detractors, Julia Roberts is pretty close to ideal for me.

As for Charlize Theron, well, blondes don’t do it for me. Never have. Although I recognize that she is objectively beautiful, she is not my cup of tea. And then there’s the thing I mentioned about bitchiness seeming to come a little too naturally to her.

Christopher Plummer was absolutely brilliant as a psychopathic bankrobber in the small Canadian film Silent Partner.

He played a light roles for Disney: The Shaggy Dog, The Absent-Minded Professor. Looking over his imdb page, he seems to have done a lot of rom-coms in his early career.
