I’m going to vote for** Firefly** BUT not to come back as a show. I want them to make Serenity Part II.
Also, Kings which you may or may not know was a VERY short lived show on NBC that was frigging phenomenal. The problem was NBC hated it from before it even aired and they didn’t hype it at all! Nobody knew about it so NBC just let it slip right into oblivion. Seriously, see if you can find the episodes, I believe there are about 4 or 5 of them. It’s like a movie every week. Ugh! Please bring this one back! Or better yet have someone good like AMC pick it up.
Also, someone mentioned Father Ted and I would like to +1 that!!
I saw that show on DVD after it was cancelled. I agree that it was good and would like to see it revived. But I don’t think NBC failed to hype it; I remember commercials for it in advance. The Wikipedia article says that the ratings for the first four episodes (aired on Sunday nights) that the show was exiled to Saturdays. So in my opinion the problem wasn’t a lack of network support, but the fact that they aren’t willing to give a show long enough to attract an audience.
Not a fiction show, but I’d give my left foot to see Mail Call from the History Channel come back. Some more non-fiction TV shows I would love to see back: Monster Garage, Junkyard Wars and Survivorman.
Since no one has mentioned it in 169 posts, I guess I’m the only one, but I’d love to see Legend of the Seeker come back. Marvellous show with some really interesting characters and mostly fun storylines. And I normally hate fantasy; I was bored to tears by the Lord of the Rings movies. But Legend of the Seeker is probably one of my top ten TV series of all time.
I seem to recall reading that it was really expensive to produce, so it needed good ratings from the get-go to keep it from becoming a money pit for the network.
