I think “Jedi Sofa” would be a great band name. Or would “Jedi Loveseat” be better?
Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings?
Lord of the Rings, definitely. It’s all dark and serious and weighty and better suited to deep thought and stuff – seems to suit the Jedi mindset better.
I agree, cats are more Jedi than dogs. Cats aren’t really our pets, they are solo predators that choose to accept our hospitality. Dogs are pack animals.
What kind of comedy would Jedi like? Probably the kind that works by pointing out absurdities in human nature and society. Both South Park and The Simpsons, but South Park is more jaded and relies more on shock value, so it’s less Jedi.
Sporks are not Jedi. Chopsticks are very Jedi.
Which SDMB forum is most Jedi?
I think I’ll use “Which is more Jedi?” as my main criterion for making decisions in life. I’ll get a bracelet made that says, “What Would a Jedi Do?” and announce to my church that my spiritual path is now “Jedi.”
The most Jedi SDMS forum? General Questions, clearly, because it is the most serious. A Jedi does not seek excitement. And, naturally, the Pit is the least Jedi, because we all know where anger leads; to hate, which leads to suffering, which leads to the dark side.
However, Cecils columns are more Jedi than any forum, for a Jedi must seek truth about all situations.
I think sticks are more Jedi than stones. Stones are brutish, but sticks can be whittled and bent. Sticks are flexible, adapting to their most pressing use.
As for the most Jedi SDMB forum, that’s a tricky question. I think the boards as a whole combine to a greater Jedi-ness - to split it into its parts is to detract from its overall force.
Red wine is more Jedi than white. It is smoother, more sophisticated. It goes with more food, it is rich and varied. Could a Sancerre or a Chablis ever be Jedi? I don’t think so. Merlots and clarets possess Jedi qualities.
Cats are twenty times more Jedi than dogs. That’s just not even debatable.
-Long hair, definitely
-Cereal only if its something like Shredded Wheat or Corn Chex
-Pens–ah, you struck one of my fav obsessions!–are more Jedi only if they are either rollerballs or dip pens. The ultimate Jedi pen is a Venetian glass dip pen, because it requires skill, finesse and care. The only Jedi ink is, of course, black.
I think stones can be arguably Jedi because not only can they be used as tools, they can be shaped into a wide variety of things, and certain shapes of stones can be quite calming to the touch. But then, so can sticks… <ponder, ponder, ponder>
I think Great Debates is the Jediest forum. It’s the arena for battles over ideals and moral issues, and Jedi are warriors. At the same time, GD has a code of conduct that is intended to keep the fights civilized.
“Spock or Paul Atreides?”
That’s tough, every time I decide, I can come up with a counter-argument and change my mind. But Paul is more of a fighter and a leader. Spock doesn’t seem to master his emotions as much as suppress them. I’ll go with Atreides.
“Batman or Spiderman?”
Well, they’re both Jedi, but Spidey gets negative points for being such a smart-ass. On the other hand, the Dark Knight needs a serious lecture from Yoda on the dangers of tapping into the dark side.
“Pens or pencils?”
Pencils are less Jedi because erasing breaks the flow.
“Breakfast cereal or toast?”
I think that some types of breakfast cereal are more nutritious that toast, so that’s what I’ll go with.
“Jesus or Buddha?”
I think we need to chuck this thread into the shallow water, before it gets too deep: I’ll counter that question with “Which of Paul Simon’s wives is the most Jedi?”
Bob Marley or John Lennon?
Mother Theresa or Gandhi?
Michael Jordan or Dr. J?
Which is more Jedi?
Ferrari or Porche?
A Hookah or a Churchwarden?
Carpentry or Masonry?
Free Masonry or Knights of Columbus?
Irresistable force vs immovable object…or…the sound of one hand clapping?
Carpentry is more Jedi than masonry, because carpentary uses a more-alive substance to bring shape to an idea or form. The force flows through everything, but living things are luminous within the force.
The sound of one hand clapping is more Jedi than an immovable object or an irresistable force, because to a Jedi there is nothing that is irresitable or immovable, the force permeates everything, and so nothing cannot be moved by it or resist it. What was, after all, immovable to Luke was not immovable to Yoda. It all depends upon the Jedis reationship with the force, not upon the intrinsic properties of the object. One hand clapping, however, is the sort of mystical conundrum that Luke could puzzle over, Obi-Wan could pontificate on the significance if, and yoda could crack in one go by clapping with one hand and going ‘Mmmm, unlearned in the ways of the force are you, young Jedi…’
What is more Jedi, Rage Against the Machine, or Rammstein? I say RATM, because they have (or had ) an ideology behind their music, and i don’t think Rammstein do. Although, i have to admit, i don’t speak german at all. Although, i suppose both make fairly angry music, and anger is hardly Jedi…well, not light Jedi at anyway…
The most jedi sport id fencing. Clearly.
More Jedi:
Apocalypse Now, or Full Metal Jacket?
Lager or cider?
Shirt or T-shirt?
Anyhow, i’m going to shut up now. I’m a bit drunk and listening to music. Can you tell? I thought not.
Whiskey is more Jedi than cigars. It’s neat and stylish, whereas cigars just make you smell. It comes also comes in Yoda-sized glasses. Cigars, as they are often used as props by evil businessmen, are Sith.
