I wish to know what items possess greater or lesser Jedi-ness.
For example, is cake more Jedi than bread?
Cake may be tastier than bread, and thus more interesting and Jedi-like. But bread is spartan and perhaps warrior-like. Thus Jedi. Tricky. On balance, I’m going with Jedi cake. You may think differently.
*Are shoes more Jedi than sandals?
Is email more Jedi than AIM?
Is jogging on the spot more Jedi than running up a hill?*
Why? How so? Pose your own Jedi-quality questions.
Well, which seems more Jedi-like to you - cake or bread? If you were a Jedi, which would you prefer? Which of these two bakery products seems to possess more Jedi qualities? It’s an important question.
And then, having given your reasons for choosing one product over another vis a vis its Jedi qualities, you could ask a similar question using whatever you like. You could ask about cooking utensils:
Which is more Jedi: A spatula or a spoon?
I think a spoon is more Jedi than a spatula. A spatula just mixes and smooths things. A spoon can be put to many uses. It can mix and smooth but it can also scoop. That’s a Jedi quality - the impulsive skillfulness of a scooping spoon.
Or sporting events:
Which is more Jedi: Hockey or Basketball?
I don’t know much about sport. Maybe an American can asnwer this better. But my Jedi-judging impulses lead me towards basketball being more Jedi than Hockey.
Well, I hate bieng all cliché and stuff, but a clear day strikes me as jedi, at least in a metaphorical way. An internal landscape of peace and harmony regardless of external developments. A thunderstorm seems dark-side to me. Lots of tumultuousness and darkness that focuses one in the power of the moment at the expense of a more encompassing world view.
A loveseat or a sofa? Depends on the make and fabric. A jedi sofa/loveseat strikes me as utilitarian, but with a bit of understated flair (see: Japanese concepts of shibui). The fabric would probably be a bit on the coarse side.
Okay, which is the more Jedi:
Swiss Army Knife or butter knife?
Oil paint, watercolor, or acrylics? (plain ink not an option)
Chunky or creamy peanut butter (and generic or name brand)?
Bread. I was the first to say it was Spartan, too. A Jedi is not one who desires icing on the cake, but one who will support, nourish, and maintain peace.
When I posted my reply, I could not see the OP, even though I posted it nearly 15 minutes after you had reposted the OP. Sorry, I was trying to be a smart arse. Not very Jedi of me. We need the smacking forehead smiley.
I would have to vote for bread as being more Jedi. My emotions tell me cake, but my head says bread because it can be used in many ways to please many people. It goes well with both sweet and savoury, it does not pick sides.
Spoon or spatula…a spatula can also scoop things, perhaps not as well as a spoon, but it can do so. I vote for spatula.
As for hockey and basketball…I’ll leave that to someone who knows more about the sports to answer.
Bread is more Jedi than cake. Like you say, its spartan and warrior-like. And also less carefree, and more responible. It should be unleavened bread, too, none of this namby-pamby yeast.
Bare feet are more Jedi than shoes or sandals. But out of the two, i would say shoes are more Jedi, because they are more practical. I know, I know bare feet aren’t more practical than shoes, but they are more Jedi. Although boots are more Jedi than shoes.
I have to admit, I have no idea what AIM is.
Running up a hill is more Jedi than jogging on the spot. Especially if you throw in a few Force-assisted jumps. Its more strenuous, and requires more focus and determination.
I agree on your spoon-more-Jedi-than-spatula reasoning.
Another vote for spoon over spatula (just gut instinct), except, of course, it’s one of those spoons with the slats cut in them to dran liquids. Don’t know why, but those don’t seem Jedi to me.
I think tea is more Jedi than coffee. This might be a controversial opinion, but my reasoning is thus: While coffee supplies stimulus and there are undoubtedly many intricate refinements of coffee, tea has its own ceremony. There are formailites within tea-making and you can train to be a world-class tea-maker. There are many leaves from which to choose and a Jedi would use his knowledge of the force to select the finest tea for any occasion.
As to which kind of smilie is most Jedi, I would have to say… no smilie. A true Jedi has no need for emoticons. He or she can convey their will by the meaning of their words alone.
Bread seems to be winning the Jedi award. Its spartan qualities win over cake’s showy decorativeness.
I would go for Swiss Army Knife over butter knife. Butter knives have a purpose and they serve it well, but the Swiss Army knife is versatile and adaptable, true Jedi qualities necessary when you’re part of a peace-keeping taskforce forever facing unknown and shadowy enemies.
Tea is more Jedi. All those anti-oxidants and flavonoids. A good Jedi may even source out decaffienated tea bags…
The Simpsons is Jedi. Especially Apu.
I think Burger King is more Jedi, but a Jedi would not have fries with his burger. Not those horrible BK fries. If he wants good fries, he goes to KFC or a proper fish and chip shop.
Trick question. A thunderstorm followed by a clear day best represents the dynamic balance between the dark side and the light side of the force.

I thought this was gonna be a play on that Laurie Anderson song:
“Que es mas macho? School bus… or light bulb?”

Is this just a question of which is more utilitarian, as with utensils and such? Oh well.
Simpsons is more Jedi because it points out the humor in things people do. It sees both sides of things. South Park is one-sided and definitely conservative, parodying only Liberals. Remember the big business v. small business debate when Harbucks came to southpark? And the rainforest episode?
Anyways, Tea is more Jedi because it is more basic.
I dunno about the others, but how about:
PC or Mac?
Rubic’s Cube or Magic 8 ball?
Playboy or Penthouse?
Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings?
Polka Dots or stripes?
God or Allah? I guess this could be a trick question, as, theoretically, they are the same.
The Beatles or the Rolling Stones? Thats a tough one.
I think Soccer is far more a Jedi game than Hockey or Basketball. Baseball is also a very Jedi game, but not, IMHO, as much as Soccer.
In both Soccer and Baseball, there may be long stretches where, to the casual observer, nothing happens. However, even in these seemingly dull moments important events are occuring and the trained eye can often glean useful information from these moments that can help predict the outcome of the game. (Or, if one is a player, help influence the outcome of the game.) There are also moments of sudden action where quick reflexes and quick thinking are essential.
I think the computers in the archives and at Jedi HQ would be more “Mac”, but the computers used in the field by individual Jedi would be more “PC”. This is because the versatility of a customized PC is very useful on the fly, but the stability and general lack of surprises from a Mac would make it welcome as a long-term solution. I also think that the computers the Jedi use in the fields would not be concerned with looks, while those in the archives and other Jedi institutions would appreciate a certain elegance.
For fast food, I think Chinese food is very Jedi since it has certain culture and ritual associated with it. However, I think a bagged lunch or homecooked meal (meat & potatoes) is more Jedi than any fast food or restaurant. Burgers and fries are not Jedi, and pizza is only slightly more Jedi than burgers. Pasta is sometimes very Jedi. It is utilitarian (full of carbohydrates) and sometimes has a certain culture associated with it, like Chinese food.
Playboy is far more Jedi than Penthouse, since Playboy is more a magazine that has pornography than a pornographic magazine. Playboy is an interesting smorgasboard of articles, interviews, opinions, and tits. Penthouse is far more focused on a single issue. If we expand the question to any periodical, I think the New York Times is one of the most Jedi, as well as the Wall Street Journal. Some of the least Jedi are USA Today and any glamour or teen magazine. National Geographic is very Jedi. Scientific American is slightly less so.
I think the PC is more Jedi. The PC takes a little more work to keep in working harmony and thus more discipline.
Then again…
It has MS Windows on it, which many consider evil incarnate (the dark side of the force).
Ok… Mac is more Jedi.
**
Rubic’s Cube or Magic 8 ball?**
Definately Rubik’s Cube. It requires a lot of practice, persistance, and patience… all Jedi qualities. But I think that Rubik’s Revenge is even MORE Jedi than Rubik’s Cube.
