(The Nicene Creed refers to “one holy catholic and apostolic church” — I think some Protestants edit out “catholic”, but lots of them certainly don’t.)
I bet most Christians or non-Christians don’t know what the hell it means. Yeah, I bet Ian Paisley skips that part.
The only ones who seem to regularly use “catholic” in that manner, or at least know what it means in context, are the Anglicans. “Protestant, yet Catholic” indeed.
That… seems quite possible. I’m a counterexample, but only one counterexample. Nonetheless, it’s used, is my point.
