I tried to raise a few points and ask some questions of both sides in the Stupid Gun thread, but it’s pointless. No one reads anything except to look for a way to insult the other side.

To be fair, there are folks like me who are ambivalent about gun control and read such threads to learn the arguments. And I can be persuaded: every time I read something by Scumpup, I’m swayed toward gun-control arguments, but that only lasts until I read something by ElvisLives and want nothing to do with gun control.

Hell, it’s not just gun control. I made the mistake of reading ElvisL1ves defense of the Patriots, and now I hate them. Passionately. And I’m not even 100% certain what sport they play.

There’s an old riddle about the slow horse race. Two dudes convinced they have the slowest horse in the world decide to have a slow horse race: whoever’s horse reaches the finish line last wins. Obvious problem is obvious: they make their horses walk slower and slower until finally they stop and glare at each other, then get off their horses (who happily start grazing) and yell at each other.

They continue like this for awhile until an old dude comes up and asks what’s the problem. They explain the problem to him. He says one sentence in exchange, and they immediately jump back on the horses and race to the finish line. What’d he say?

Anyway, maybe these guys are in a slow horse race.
