I’ll stop in for discussions about movies and, perhaps my favorite topic, FOOD! Other than that, I tend to stay away. I’m not artsy, but after last night’s cheese steak, I’m super fartsy. I still have some left in the 'fridge, but re-heated just isn’t the same

I am a true Cecil Adams fan from way back, and started participating on alt.fan.cecil-adams, where back in those days the traffic was mostly questions and discussion in the vein of his columns. Then for some reason that I can no longer fathom I joined up with AOL. They had a SD discussion board, but eventually the board was moved to the Web and this site. (That’s when I realized that AOL was going to go toes up.) The GQ board tracks most closely with the spirit of the original column, which is what got me here. However, over the years I have also felt a sense of community here and do participate in the other boards.
Cafe Society! I will scroll through the other forums. I have no interest in sports or games, and I found the vitriolic posts on politics downright scary. (Not just here, but any other place that brings up politics. The Old Farmers Almanac! I thought that was a nice place to talk about how much snow fell, how to cut back on consuming, how to make bread - some of those people sound like deranged survivalists ready to hole up in a cave!) I’m making special note and earmarking certain topics that are of interest, about health, insurance, and money to peruse in the future, if need be. But Cafe Society is, and always has been, my favorite place. I’ve been a faithful reader of SD since it was a keyword on AOL years ago and no evening of surfing is complete unless I look in.
I resemble that remark! Go ahead! Search my posts! I’m usually in MPSIMS because I’m pretty mundane and pointless myself. I like Cafe Society the most for the books, movies, TV shows and cooking stuff. I go into the pit maybe once a year.

Well, I read many, many more threads than I actually post in. I probably visit GQ, GD, CS, IMHO, the Pit, MPSIMS, and GR in that order, with MPSIMS and GR being a lot lower than the others. I rarely post to any forums but IMHO and CS unless a thread really interests me, but I can post quite often in GD if it does. Posting in the Pit and MPSIMS usually seems kind of pointless, what with being lost in a sea of other posts, but I like to help out and ask questions in GQ when I can.

All the stupid new forums Ed Zotti created, that seem to be aimed at 12 very specific people.
I’m in GQ,GD, CS, IMHO, MPSIMS, and the Pit about equally. I’ll occasionally lurk in the Chicago forums, and I’m never In The Barn House.
I hit Cafe Society & The Game Room first. Nice to be able to have entertainment discussions without dealing with fanboys (aside from the BTVS-ers and Arrested Developmenties). If I’m feeling in a humorous or pissy mood, I’ll hit the BBQ Pit. I often queue up a couple Great Debates for long subway rides. I don’t come into IMHO very often, unless I’m feeling bored (although I often end up here via searches), and I almost never go into the other groups.
