White people suck

You didn’t say gay jokes at all. You said “faggot jokes”. If you don’t understand the difference you’re a bigger imbecile than your posts would already imply, and as evidenced by the fact you can apparently type I just don’t think that’s possible. You said faggot because you were mad at me and thought “Sampiro’s a faggot”- not “Sampiro’s gay…” but “Sampiro’s a faggot”. Fuck yourself you slimey ricket ridden stupid hypocritical hypersensitve waste of an opposable thumb.

Like you’d have the wit to make one that you hadn’t overheard. You instead just called me a faggot. (Oh I’ll admit- you didn’t have the guts to directly call me a faggot- but that hardly makes it better, and by specifically referring to faggots because you know I’m gay, your target was obvious.)

Well ain’t that mighty white of you?

I never insulted you personally. If I insulted your opinion on a matter- that’s different. God knows how many devout Christians have been offended on these boards where their religion is concerned- not one of them has ever one time called me a faggot. You did insult me personally.

Of course I’m not man enough for anything- I’m a faggot! Don’t you even pay attention to your own posts?

All races of people can be just as much horrible, hypocritical, disgusting pieces of shit as the next race, whites just happen to have more control in our society.

I’m so glad you’re completely over your sensitivity WRT your mother and your orientation Sampiro, otherwise you might be getting upset!

I don’t know about you, but I consider hate crimes to be a pretty serious expression of discrimination and bigotry. Taking a look at the FBI’s statistics: http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/hc2006/incidents.html

White people may not be topping the victim scoreboard, but to completely exclude them as victims of discrimination requires deliberately ignoring a significant portion of hate crimes.

Additionally, for a site which explicitly prohibits hate speech, it’s particularly distressing to see one of the moderators expressing such a ready willingness to look the other way when a certain group is the target.

I can’t say I blame him (or anyone) for being a little sensitive about his sexual orientation.

Totally off-subject anecdote…

When I was much younger, knew a guy named Big Dennis. Big Dennis was fucking huge. Seven foot tall, built like a muscle freak who was six foot but proportioned out for seven. Massive. Queer as a blue horse. Totally cool guy…to wit…

We’re sitting in this bar, having a beer or ten, talking about not much. It was a bar that sort of attracted a biker wannabe crowd, you know the type. Anyway, we’re sitting there and this biker guy from Central Casting walks by Big Dennis and bumps into him sort of accidentally on fuck you. Dennis ignores him. Five minutes later, guy comes by again, same routine, but with a defiant stare as well, also ignored. Same thing, one more time. Dennis shakes his head, sighs, puts down his beer, and stands up. All the way up, takes a while.

“Look, I can see where this is going, I’m big, you’re tough, you want to fight. Don’t much like fighting, but that’s ok, not real busy. Thing is, I want you to know something, something important: I’m queer. And if I win, I’m going to fuck you.”

Dude blinked, stammered, blinked some more and stumbled backwards muttering something apologetic.

Dennis sits back down. “Where were we?”

It’s certainly understandable, but maybe he should save his wrath for when someone actually attacks it.

The thing is, we white folk have been running the show so long, that we ought to be able to accept a little half-serious hate speech directed at us.

(And a half-serious generalisation such as that in the OP is not the same thing morally as a hate crime)

Okay, I’ll try to get this out here as clearly as I can, but given past history I’ll probably just make things more confusing. Weirddave, I fully understood you were generalizing to make a point, and I did clearly understand you were ranting. Your buddy Craig is obviously pretty obtuse, maybe even just an idiot. I’m glad you tried to call him on it. BUT…stop there.

You don’t owe Chi an apology, nor do I, nor does anybody who isn’t Craig. The more I see of this kind of thing, the more I think it’s part of the problem. A large part of what allows racism, or sexism, or any kind of prejudice to happen is that “they’re all like that” mentality. I don’t think it helps any to make it “we’re all like that”. Craig, as an individual, is responsible for his actions. You are not Craig. Yeah, I know this is idealistic, but isn’t that part of what changes things?

So a large part of my objection to your rant is that idea that the group should be held accountable for the actions of the individual. I know you were exaggerating to make a point, but I wanted to make my point, too.

He’s not a Pit moderator, so any comments he makes in the Pit are simply another poster’s opinions.

Unless he puts on the hat and jackboots first.

Are you truly so dim that you don’t understand that the word faggot when aimed at a gay person is primo facie and by its nature an attack? Try this… go to a black person on the street- doesn’t matter if he’s from Zimbabwe or Missouri, just random black person- and, without looking at him, take out your cell phone, call somebody, and say “I wonder what that nigger’s phone number is?” See how said black person reacts- now remember, you haven’t actually called them a nigger, have you? (Though you did specifically refer to me as worthy of faggot jokes- and again you’d have been fine- I’d have taken the point- if you said “gay jokes”- you went to faggot.)

Goddam at the people who are just intelligent enough to figure out how to breed. We’ll wind right back up crackers floating in primordial soup yet.

Who you callin’ cracker?

Would it be okay if I started referring to imports from China as “chink-produced crap”? The slur in question would be directed at Chinese in China, where they happen to be running the show.

It’s a lot simpler and more fair to just put a color-blind policy in place.

That’s correct, but it doesn’t really refute my point. I was discussing it in relation to Marley23’s rather large discrimination exception to racial pride being silly. I agree that it’s silly, but I vehemently disagree with Marley23’s version that it’s silly but non-whites get a pass.

That’s true, but the anti-hate speech rule is certainly more wide-spread than just the Pit. I’m not accusing him of moderatorial misconduct, but I do find his personal views disturbing in terms of how they’ll affect his enforcement of the rules within his forum.

Ah, you nailed it. This is how I feel.

Congratulations, you’ve managed to get outraged about nothing while failing to understand what I actually wrote. White people as a group are not the victims of discrimination in this country the way black people or gays are. It’s not close. Do I have to explain this transparently obvious point? Your own cite shows three times as many anti-black hate crimes as anti-white crimes, and there are a lot more potential white victims than black, so it’s clear who is more likely to be beaten up for being the wrong color. White people have never been property by reason of their race, and they’ve never been denied the right to vote or marry based on their race. The difference between mistreatment of blacks as a group and crimes against individual whites is obvious. Isn’t it?

Anyway, in your rush to castigate me for condoning anti-white hate speech, you managed to miss the fact that I never addressed hate speech at all, much less said I was okay with any hate speech against anybody. My point was that I find group pride silly, but I can understand why certain groups that are oppressed, or have been oppressed, take pride in their shared identity. This does not apply to white people in America by any standard. Do I have to explain why? I hope not. It does apply to gays and black people, for example, but would not apply to polka fans or vegetarians.
I don’t find hate speech acceptable, and as a Mod on this site I would warn anybody for hate speech against anybody else. One of my first bans against anybody was hate speech-related, and I remain opposed to it online and off. Do I actually have to affirm something like this? Guess so, but hopefully I’ve cleared it up. Connecting “white people as a group aren’t victims in America, and so I see no need for ‘white pride’” to “I am okay with hate speech against white people” is an enormous, and very stupid, leap in reasoning.

Any posts I make anywhere are simply another poster’s opinions unless I’ve put on some Mod garments, or perhaps if I’m answering a technical question.

But you have to see the term in a broader context, including a period of European – particularly British – colonialism in China during the 19th century, and including both legal and extra-legal discrimination against Chinese people in the 19th and early 20th centuries in countries like the US and Australia.

So I assume you’ll have no problem quoting where I called a gay person a faggot? Yes? No? Maybe?

Just stopping by now with a question, as I usually don’t like hanging around in the Pit…

  • I believe in that link that Sampiro provided, it had you saying the F-word.

So here is my question- are you outraged at Craig for using the N-word period, or solely because he said it in front of a black person?

ie: Do you care if someone says the N-word?
Or only when they say it in front of a member of the offending group?

Because thats how I feel the F-word thing is going. To me, I just try to avoid the word, as it does feel hateful regardless of in the presence of Gays or not. That may thusly be my confusion now with regards to you and Sampiro, and you and Craig.
Because even jokingly, I wouldn’t try to use the N-word in dialog regardless of the races of the people around me, but if you find that tolerable as long as no black people around, then I understand your stance against Sampiro and the F-word (as then you weren’t calling him or any Gay person the word, you were simply using the word, and that’s okay with you).

But right now, I’m not really sure i get it.
Perhaps a clarification on the differences or similarities of the two words and your stances on them would help?

So, Craig is white?

I mean, you only specified the race of one person there, so your default is white? Why not describe everyone’s race so we get the full picture?

So, you’re sure Craig is white? And what was the race of the person he was talking about?

Apropos of nothing, I really hate it when people capitalize non-proper nouns - “he’s a Black dude,” “I love my Gay pal”, “I am a White woman,” etc.
