Who do you want to win Survivor?

I don’t think we’re “missing” anything. We’re talking about what’s going on in the actual context of the show. After that, I think you’re right – Richard will get some bucks, and may get more than anybody else (although his chances have been hurt a bit by the charges of child abuse, even though, according to a quote in the paper a couple days ago, “the charges were proven false”).

Stuyguy: Several of us are giving Richard his due. Hell, I started this thread by saying I wanted him to win!

With an apologetic tip of the hat to David B and Gazoo – and the very few others who admire Richard, begrudgingly or otherwise – I ask the court’s permission to rephrase, your honor. So…

“Why are SO FEW PEOPLE willing to give the devil his due?”

Also, my comment about Rudy should read: “It’s hard not to like the old bastard.” Not the other way around.

Apologies to all.

I think SO FEW people are willing to give him his due because they don’t like his scheming style. Every show has to have a guy you really don’t like (J.R. Ewing on Dallas, for example). Richard is filling that role here. It doesn’t matter that he’s playing the game to get the million bucks and he’s doing it the right way, IMO (at least, he was 'til last episode). It’s much easier to like Gervase, who’s a laid-back friendly guy.

Well, if the devil is due to spend eternity in hell… Ahem You know the rest.

Just figured I’d bump this up near the top so it’s easier to find this evening.

My final predictions for this evening:

Gervase wins the reward challenge and is given 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep (that would be funny).

Sue decides to turn against the alliance and vote Rich off, but Rich wins immunity so she stays with the alliance vote which votes for Kelly since they know Sean is going to vote for her as well.

Kelly gets 4 votes, Sue gets 3.

Gazoo: I think you got one fine prediction there.

However, I want to mix things up a bit, so I’m gonna predict that Kelly, knowing her noggin is in the crosshairs, competes like a demon and wins immunity tonight. Then all hell should break loose… will Sean stick to his ABC guns and vote against former teammate, Rich? Will Sean’s vote give the Rich-haters enough votes to decapitate the Alliance?

Stuyguy says YES, Rich is history as of tonight!

(Nah, not really. In my heart of hearts I think Kelly is a goner and Rich will last for a few more weeks… but don’t tell anybody, okay?)

I’d like to point out something that I said on July 29:

I read in the paper yesterday that Playboy has asked Colleen and Jenna if they would appear in a photo shoot. Colleen said no, but Jenna said yes, if they would pay her…half a million bucks. Do you think she read my message?

I just hope Colleen’s reading mine: DO IT COLLEEN! I WILL BUY THAT ISSUE!

ahem

Anyway, Survivor Sucks says tonight’s Kelly’s night, and it sure seems like it, thanks to Sean.

I’m hoping not.

I’m beginning to think survivorsucks.com is a front for CBS and calculated deception. I mean how wrong can they keep being? Gervaise is gonna win? NOT. Kelly is toast? NOT.

Well, before last week, they were five for five in picking who would get voted off.

And, they’ve been around longer than Survivor. They started off as a Real World mocking site, so I really doubt they’re just a sock puppet for CBS.

The Gervase theory was the work of a crafty web surfer who posted to the survivorsucks.com message board. The news media took it from there.

If you ask me, the Gervase ‘leak’ was a piece of disinformation by CBS. Those guys understand that you need to have an active disinformation campaign to be able to really keep a secret. If CBS did nothing at all, then it would be easy to collect evidence. But if they have a disinformation campaign going, you need to not only find evidence, but separate out the real stuff from the fake.

Well, I’m glad Gervase got voted off. He was lazy, and he finally got his due. I thought for sure it would be Kelly, though. I’m so happy that Sean ditched the stupid alphabet plan. It makes things more interesting now that he is voting for real, instead of wimping out.

What was up with Sue’s little alliance speech? She lost me with all those analogies to government and such. I was quite surprised with her teary devotion to Kelly. Very interesting.

Richard is still a cocky asshole. His happy dance when he won immunity was priceless. I hope he goes next week.

Did Jenna look pissed off still or what at the tribal council? I see they must have a stash of makeup over at the camp…

You nailed it smug !! Great prediction . . . care to make one for next week ?

They had a chance to break the alliance tonight, and then Kelly and Gervy go and vote for Sean . . . well, I am all for Sean being off the island - but DAMN it would have made it a lot more interesting if Colleen-Gervy-Kelly-Sean got together and booted either Rudy or Sue. Why didn’t they do that ? Before the tribal council they were even talking about that possibility. You think Kelly went back to the “dark side” ?

Go Colleen baby !!

Hey thanks NothingMan, it was… um… nothing, man.

My prediction remains as previously posted, next one booted will be idiot Sean, unless he wins immunity, in which case it will be Rudy. (The next biggest threat to win IC’s.)

The women will see the advantage of keeping Rich around until the very end, before turning on him.

I still think it will be Kelly over Colleen in a close final vote.

Soooo - next week… it’s bye bye idiot Sean.

(Predictions subject to change frequently)

Did Kelly vote for Sean? I thought she voted for Gervase, too.

I was also confused by the whole Susan thing. She gets all teary about Kelly, but then later things look different. I guess that’s the problem with such a massively edited show. But, as we guessed, they only showed us the part of the clip they wanted us to see – the part with Sue saying she and Kelly would turn on Rich. What they didn’t show was that Sue was talking about this happening after ONLY the three of them were left. I think Sue knows that she needs to keep Richard around, and she also knows that Kelly would vote with her to get rid of him, if it did come down to the three of them. (But I wonder if there is still an immunity challenge when they get down that low.)

Is anybody else sick of hearing Kelly moralize now that we know she was wanted for credit card fraud (or something like that?) She talks about feeling dirty, going to the dark side, etc. Hello? It seems she allegedly did this long before getting on the show…

I’m with you on this one.

Well, I guessed the two challenge winners right on the head, but I was way off on the tribal council vote. Speaking of which, I swear the first 6 votes had a tie between Gervase and Sean with three each and then the last was for Gervase. The tribal council site on cbs.com shows the vote as 5 for Gervase and only Colleen and Gervase voting for Sean. Am I missing something?

I think Richard will be next off the island, which will be funny because he’ll have to spend his days with Greg, Jenna, and Gervase who all hate him.

Woo Hoo! Gervase is gone! I SO didn’t want a lazy, good-for-nothin’ bum to get paid a million dollars for doing nothing and being proud of it.

I think Kelly is gone next week, if Rich gets a brain and realizes that she’s a weak link. Then I think Sean gets it the week after. I am now rooting for Rudy since Jenna’s gone. She sure still seemed pretty pissed. I still don’t get why they voted her off. Did they think they were doing her a favor by “sending her home” to her babies? Except she still has to stay around for the next 10 days as part of the jury, so she didn’t really get to go home!

Much relieved to see another rumor debunked, which proves that any dolt can, in fact, scrawl a bunch of X’s over some damn photo, and it doesn’t mean a thing.

It was a surprise, though, even with Gervase’s admitted laziness. I was almost certain Sean was a dead man after Richard won immunity, as his dumb non-system really ticked off his former tribemates and made him a threat to the Gang of Three/Four. It seems to me that what’s kept Gervase alive for so long (be slightly less marginal than the weakest one on the island) ended up benefitting Sean this time.

I give Richard credit for having a pretty good strategy, but I still say there’s no chance of him winning. Not only has he put too many eggs in two baskets (fishing ability and the alliance), he’s shown that he can win an IC. He could be out by day 33; in any case, I do not see him beating anybody in the final vote.

With Gervase out, Colleen is now under the gun, although with Richard and Sean still in she still has time to make nice with whatever possible allies she has left. Rudy actually looks pretty good at this point; as long as he keeps pulling his weight, he could be one IC from the finals. Sue may be as conniving as Richard, but she’s a lot less arrogant about it, rarely letting her emotions show, never tipping her hand. She’s the only one who I’ve seen demonstrate a willingness to pull her weight, alliance-building skills, total ruthlessness, and the good sense not to tick everyone off. I really like her chances.

As for Kelly, maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help but feel for her (and wonder if her experience on Survivor actually did make her a worse person). It couldn’t have been easy backing up the alliance vote again, but she didn’t really have much choice here. Interesting to see her try to bond with Susan, and I think that’s what’s going to be the final blow for Richard.

For all the bad raps everyone gives Richard for being coniving, pompous, and cocky, I still think Susan is the least ethical of all of them. One minute she’s crying about how Kelly is her best friend in years, the next she’s calling her flaky. She talks to Kelly about breaking the alliance and screwing Rich, and then she gives that stupid speech about government, religion, and alliances.

I’d predict her getting the boot next, except: (a) I don’t think anyone knows she’s doublefaced - yet; and (b) she’s due to win an immunity challenge.

I predict that Richard will try to oust Kelly next because he needs to get rid of a girl. He doesn’t want to give them a chance to ally against the guys. But Susan will rebel against that because she likes Kelly. So the alliance will be broken up, but Kelly will still get booted because Rudy, Colleen, and Richard will vote for her. Susan and Colleen will vote for Sean. And Kelly will vote for Rudy.

Then Sean will be booted if Richard gets immunity because Sean is Pagong and Richard knows that Sean is a nice guy and the others might vote for him to win the million bucks because he wasn’t a back stabber.

I see it in this order:

Kelly
Sean
Colleen
Richard
Rudy
Susan
