I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but a quick perusal of various dopers’ numbers would incline me to bet at least a couple thousand at say, 5-1 odds.
Yes. They’re based on when you registered your account, although I see there’s a little wonkiness in the system if you go back to the beginning: the earliest join dates are February 18, 1999, but Lynn Bodoni has the lowest active user number even though her join date is March 9, 1999.

Actually, my post per day rate has gone down slightly since becoming a mod. I was keeping it under 10 ppd by sheer force of will three years ago, now it’s down to 9.59 – not exactly low, but the mod-biz posts (the vast majority of them documenting spammers, moving threads, and telling people to knock [whatever] off) have been more than offset by the decline in other posts. As a mod, I’m way less likely to post personal stuff about myself, which gives people a license to bash me in ways they are not allowed to ATMB, or to engage in drive-by snark commenting on the idiocy of others.
