It’s funny how Dio hasn’t even been here and yet no one else has got ahead of him yet.
From time to time I look at my list of customers in Quickbooks. My top customer was such a big spender that even though he lost his job two years ago and hasn’t spent much/any money here, the person in the number two spot isn’t going to overtake him for at least another year. If she lost her job, she’d hold the number 2 spot for, I’d guess, the next 3 or 4 years.
It’s the 80/20 rule. 80% of your business comes from 20% of the customers. I’d guess the same thing is somewhat true here. A handful of posters make the majority of the posts.
It would be interesting to look at all the posters that were active in the last (or a calender) year, sort by post count (for the year), take the top 20% of that list and see if they made 80% of the posts for the year.
There’s 25 posters listed there and just shy of a million posts between them (jesus..someone wanna check my math there). The stats at the bottom of the page say we have 15.2 million posts. That’s about 7% of the posts from well under 20% of the members. Anyone care to extrapolate?
The scary part is, half of the users on that list are socks of the same person!
What’s cool is that it appears that aside from Dio, every single other poster is active still and I recognize all their names. I feel like I am moving along at a pretty good clip. Its hard for me to imagine that I’ve surpassed many of the 1999ers and I’ve only been posting since 2008.
I think that says a lot about me…and I’m not sure I want to get into the specifics of what that might mean!
If I extrapolate my yearly average, if I were a 1999er I would have something close to 40,000 posts or so. Yikes.
Liberal is an exception to this - he hasn’t posted in just about two years.
