I’ll let someone else play around with all of the latitude/longitude stuff… Let’s just say 100 miles south of Montreal.
My Dad bought me a star when I was a kid, and that’s a few gazillion miles away. I hereby declare that star as my vacation home, and that should be enough to qualify me as most distant.
Oh, and that should be “I am about a hundred miles south of Montreal” for anyone who thought I was saying that the furthest doper would be there…
Melbourne. Victoria. Australia. Around 15,000 kilometers.
I would’ve guessed one of our Ozzies. If we’ve got no one in Perth, Caught@Work might be your man.
LeeJam I think is in Perth (I could be wrong).
I’m another one in Melbourne.
I believe Narrad hails from Perth. According to my globe the exact opposite of 100 miles south of Montreal would be somewhere off the coast of Western Australia. So, someone in Perth would be the farthest away from our esteemed colleague clayton_e.
Small hijack, but I just want to err on the side of caution…
Sorry, Scylla, but even if you could get to the star and vacation there, the star naming thing appears to be all a hoax. (Yes, the URL points to the latest book by The Bad Astronomer, but that’s where I read about the star naming hoax and I couldn’t seem to find any better treatment of it online. My apologies if this is not acceptable.)
Unfortunately, I can lay no claim at all to living extremely far from clayton_e. While not close, I’m nowhere near Perth.
Tasmanian here (south of Melbourne, Australia for all the non-aussies)
I’m from Perth, Western Australia. Do I get anything???
I reckon Perth’d be th’ winner here – 11335 miles away from Montreal. As th’ crow flies, o’course.
Tasmania’s only a tad over the 10000 mile mark, sorry.
What do they get? Chocolate? Fluffy dice?
I’m from Perth, too.
LeeJam, I’m in Claremont, and I believe Narrad lives somewhere south of the river. Why don’t you do the maths, and figure out which of us is actually furthest from clayton?

And chocolate is good
I’m from Midland… you both win… Oh well
lel:
When you say it was a hoax, what do you mean?
I remember getting a certificate, and directions to finding where my star was .
Scam. Quoth the Master:
Nice to see the no doubt uni-craniumed AlteredState here. Anything you say can only enhance the reputation of Taswegians on these Boards - we had a nutbag passing herself off as Tasmanian a while back. You look like the prize-winner so far.
