Who lists the best "location" under their user name?

I never really thought of trying to make mine funny, although I do laugh at some of other people’s locations. I don’t really know how to make “Kansas” sound funny…

Sasnak!

How 'bout, “Where the tornado whisked me to the yellow brick road!”

Or is that too long? Maybe “Shocker-land” is too weird?

Tripler
Just what the hell is a “shocker” anyway?

I might just have to use that Sasnak! idea, complete with the !

Thanks, dantheman. And Tripler, i dont know what the hell you are talking about…

Ender also has his coordinates.

An incidentally, he’s in Kansas.

I used to have my lattitude and longitude, in old fashioned format. Only one person noticed.

Kansas?

How 'bout,

Dammit Toto, I was wrong!

Tris

Knock Knock: great reference.

You know I kinda liked the Wrigley Field bit.

Yeah, real cute!

Mine is an MST3k reference.

Mine does, but it’s more interesting if people have to work for it.

My location actually has a little meaning to it.

Yeat is a nautical greeting that clipper ships would yell at the docks when coming home with goods after a long voyage. It is very regional from what I understand, and is only known to people from the north shore area of Massachussetts.

The word has no meaning. It is used as a greeting, or just said for no reason almost like one would say “fuck”. There are stories of people being in a train station in NY and needing a ride home yelling “YEAT!” at the top of their lungs to find another person from the same area to give them a ride.

Also, people will commonly yell it out in bars to see if there is anybody from the hometown there. My brother who has travelled extensively has met people on the west coast that are from the hometown this way.

So, being from Newburyport, MA I have used it as my sig. Alas, no one has ever mentioned it in over a year on the boards. I must be the only one on the boards from that neck of the woods.

Can someone please explain that Location:Location:Location: joke to me? I just don’t get it.

In real estate, it’s said that three things matter most when buying a new home: location, location, location.

(In other words, the importance of the location of the new house is being overemphasized.)

Not quite, the point of the “location, location, location” thing is that location CANNOT be overemphasized. Location is EVERYTHING in the real estate biz. Big house, small house, not as important as where it is in relation to everything else.

Enjoy,
Steven

I meant it was being exaggerated to make a point.

I don’t think my new location is at all clever, but I just wanted to say that this thread inspired me to change mine. I don’t feel bad about not having my real-life location, though, because it’s in my profile.

My favorits have already been mentioned here I think.

I forget who it is that has something like “right behind you” on theirs. Also the one who has “somewhere in your house” or some such.

Used to be, one’s location showed up only in one’s profile. People were usually willing to give some clue as to their actual location there, figuring (I guess) that the extra click gave some protection. And if you wanted to know where someone was from, all you had to do was click the ‘profile’ link.

But the current incarnation of vBulletin takes whatever’s in your ‘location’ field on the profile, and puts it next to every post. So between the smartass tendencies that many of us have, and the desire of many others among us to not have their real location quite so out in the open, few posters give their actual location anymore.

My real location’s in my profile, but not in the ‘location’ field.

I don’t understand why anyone would be concerned about filling in the location. Maybe if you live in a very small town someone could go through all of your posts and piece together your true identity, but this would be no small task. Why do so many people here leave the location field blank? What are they afraid of??

Ellen Cherry– do you live in Kentucky?

Yeah, what Surreal said. Why is location so often left blank?

Emphasis mine
Texas.
