While I’ve been ‘away’ there’s this new name I see. And under it I see ‘Moderator’. It must be a name change. Who was it?
It’s not a name change, they’ve been around for some time, their joindate is11-26-2001. You might have missed them due to their posts per day: (1.02 posts per day). This is one of my favorite threads started by fluiddruid.
No, the question here is, “Who is Lobsang?”

I know fluiddruid, but I don’t know Rico, who was recently made a GQ mod. I sat there for a good few minutes trying to remember ever seeing his/her posts, and I still haven’t recalled any.
Funny how it works. I’ve been here for six or seven years and things still go right by me like they never happened.

Yes, I am indeed one person, and have never changed my name. I’ve actually used this screen name since the early nineties in my BBS days. So that we need not use neutral pronouns, I am in fact female.
I know a lot of people have not heard of me; before I became a moderator, I was mostly a lurker. I read the SDMB daily, but only posted to perhaps one thread in thirty that I read. I’ve been around for some time (2001, as was mentioned), but I don’t tend to comment too much. For example, I read Cafe Society extensively, but seldom post there; I read General Questions often, but am usually beaten to the punch on an answer, and don’t want to chime in for no reason. I don’t tend to write a lot of OPs, compared to most of our users.
It’s only being a moderator that has dragged me kicking and screaming past the one post per day mark.

Speaking of BBS days, I’ve been seeing your name on bbsmates - kept meaning to ask if you were one and the same… Actually been seeing quite a few Doper names over there, possibly due to the link I posted in the last BBS thread.
So some Dopers are probably kicking my ass in LORD and GWAR… Sigh.

Yes, that’s me. I just started over there recently after seeing your post. I tend to be rather cyclical about BBS games – every few years I’ll go “Man, I could go for some Tradewars! And Usurper! And LORD!” and then after a couple of weeks I go “Man, now I remember why I stopped playing these.”
I have this image of FD only posting here here once a day for the last few years because she was too busy sending off a dozen or so email messages each day to the administrators begging them to let her become a mod.
