Kristi Noem has admitted to taking her hunting dog / daughter’s puppy to a quarry and shooting it and dumping the body. Why? The dog was an asshole which is Noem speak for “I didn’t bother to train it.” That has created a gigantic blowback that anyone (except Kristi) would have seen coming.
MTG is going through with her privileged motion to vacate the office of Speaker of the House. Not only is she going to lose, she is going to lose big and we all know Trump hates losers.

I do not think MTG has ever had a shot at Trump’s VP. Even he knows she is toxic no matter how much she sucks-up to him.
Noem has put herself out of the running. Not sure she had a good chance before being a puppy killer but now she’s out. That’s a bridge too far even for MAGAts (which is saying a lot).

It’s hard for me to imagine who could even want the VP slot for Trump at this point. Noem wanted it bad and she was my first choice, but I agree she’s entirely out of the running now due to puppy assassination. MTG brings nothing to the ticket, so not her.
Marco Rubio is a greater glutton for punishment than I ever imagined if he takes it, but it does seem feasible he’s at the top of the list for now. Or JD Vance, who is scary-transactional. That would work for Trump.
That’s a beta male move. I guarantee that if Trump were to pick a fellow Floridian for VP, he would make that person relocate.
If this were a movie, Rubio would relocate to a state where — later that same day — Trump would wind up behind bars.
This made me consider the fact that it would pretty much have to be a hardcore MAGAT trumpist, correct? People like Rubio and Cruz are Republicans from before Trump won in 2016. Maybe not them specifically, but any Republican that might be able to conceive of a Republican Party that might exist post trump, have to know that tieing themselves to him as a VP right now is going to be poison in the long run. Unless he wins of course. I’ve heard numbers as high as 70% for hardcore Trump supporters in the Republican party.
Maybe that thinking runs a foul of applying old patterns to the new political reality. Or is just wishful thinking. Just a thought I had.
I still think he’s going to go with a woman. I was initially convinced it was going to be Kari Lake, but I think she’s actually gone too extreme for him. On the other hand, Elise Stefanik fits the bill nicely. Young, attractive, started off as a pretty strong moderate but flipped to MAGA, she isn’t “big city,” worships at the altar of Trump without coming across as a lightning rod or attention-seeking idiot like MTG or Boebert.
I’m also thinking it’s rather likely to be Stefanik. Another plus: she represents a border district, the number one hot-button issue the whole party will be flogging (no, not that border, but stilll…)
And Cruz would be giving up a lot to be Trump’s VP.
I wonder if the less Trump, and Trumpworld leakers, say about a top tier possibility like Stefanic, the more likely it becomes. Then the pick will sound, to low info voters, a bit surprising, or even bold, when it actually was a safe choice.

Ted Cruz’ sole ambition since he was in high school has been to become President. He doesn’t give a shit about his Senate seat except as a stepping stone to the White House. He would also, under Texas law, be able to run for both reelection to the Senate and for Vice President simultaneously (you can thank LBJ for that). I don’t think it’ll be Cruz, but I have no doubt he would leap at the opportunity to be Trump’s running mate.
