Who will be Trump's running mate? (J. D. Vance Has Been Chosen)

It says she registered as a Democrat twice (though she may well have been Republican by then).

Lots of folks sell their morals, respect and soul for however many pieces of silver they can get.

I’m putting forth that when Vance gets booted off the ticket, he’ll claim he’s voluntarily stepping down because of how badly liberals have dissed his wife for her ethnicity and religion.

Adam Mockler reports:

Apparently, Chuck Schumer says that Trump plans to dump Vance in the next ten days.

No idea who that kid is as I’ve never watched him before but it is very intriguing. I just hope DJT doesn’t dump Vance and add Haley. That could be really bad for Harris. Maybe bad for Harris. Maybe not.

I’m exhausted by this election cycle and need a nap.

My impression has always been that no one much likes Haley. She seems to rub people the wrong way. Or maybe it’s just me.

I normally wouldn’t put much stock in the rumors except for their feeble attempts at throwing shade on the idea of Biden dropping out. The more they do that, the more it makes me think they are trying to front-run any pushback on throwing JD out after actual, meaningful deadlines have passed by saying “what? You said that our complaint about Biden dropping out before the convention was bogus, you’re just a hypocrite for saying we can’t replace the VP choice after the ballots have already been printed.”

And she isn’t deferential enough.

Yet, she is very popular with a certain cohort of women voters, most of them suburban GOP leaning.

If even 10% of her primary voters go to Harris in certain states that could be fatal for DJT.

You mean the same Haley he called “Birdbrain” and claimed her husband was cheating on her? I doubt it.

And then she endorsed him.

Desperation makes strange bedfellows.

In Trump’s mind that doesn’t make up for the crime of Being a Woman and Disagreeing With Him.

Are we sure that Schumer wasn’t talking about a deadline to decide IF Trump drops him?

This dude is simply reading a Newsweek story to his YouTube followers. And the Newsweek story is just reporting on something Schumer said on Face the Nation this morning. Schumer did NOT say that Trump plans to dump Vance in the next ten days. The quote from Schumer in the Newsweek story (which he actually said on Face the Nation) is:

The choice may be one of the best things he ever did for Democrats. Now the president [Trump] has about 10 days before the Ohio ballot is locked in and he has a choice. Does he keep Vance on the ticket, where he already has a lot of baggage and probably is going to have more baggage…or does he pick someone new?

This is atrocious “reporting.”

Yeah, my bad, I didn’t fully watch the video before posting. But knowing that Trump has 10 days to flush the turd before further complications ensue is helpful.

Technically, the Newsweek headline is accurate; Trump may (as in is allowed to) drop Vance in the next ten days…

That makes more sense to me than what that kid was saying. After that date in Ohio it gets complicated. So yeah, about 10 days.

She’s a grifter par excellence, just like Trump, yet, on the surface seems more polished and sophisticated. At first, this seems better than Trump but ends up seeming just as bad or even worse, since Trump is a grifter by nature–authentic, if you will–while Haley seems like a good, capable person who nevertheless has given into the grift–a fake grifter, as it were. In a word, she’s gratuitously corrupt.

How does this compare to Vance? Vance, of course, is a grifter–but a sucky one. Everyone can see through his lies and his shtick with the slightest inspection, so the tragedy of his fall does not seem that great, while Haley’s seems, via her ability to forestall insight into her fraud, all the greater a loss.

The Convention is over, trump can’t dump Vance. Not legally.

If Vance chooses to step down (or agrees to do so, under pressure), the RNC already has an established procedure to replace him (which has been mentioned a couple of times upthread). If he refuses to, then it’s a matter of whether the RNC would be willing to change their rules to oust him.

And Vance would absolutely step down if Trump told him to. It’s ridiculous to think he would fight it.
