Getting back to JD and his Swiftboating of Walz, I came across this on Xitter when pursuing the “Trump is done” hashmark. It’s likely fake, since I didn’t find it on the US Marine Corps’ official website, but if it makes a dent in the phony “stolen valor” crap, even a little, that’s fine by me.
Well, it looks more to me like someone opining on Vance and the Honor Code, and who used a Marines logo. I don’t think that whoever created it necessarily set out to make it look like it was an official statement from the USMC.
If you look at the tiny type under the caption it claims to be from the official USMC website.
The logo and the first paragraph probably are from the USMC site. It’s just boilerplate.
The second paragraph is commentary from the author. There is no way a branch of the military would get involved like that.

On the lighter side, Vance has quit Magic:The Gathering (a card game). I wouldn’t want him to have the same hobby as me, and he also doesn’t get LOTR either apparently.

A lot could be made of the fact that trump’s inner circle was a notorious pack of unrepentant criminals. He pardoned assholes whose convictions were the opposite of a miscarriage of justice.
Somehow, I picture young JD’s favorite M:tG deck being a black/red “All Hot Babe Art.”

I mean, I’d be angry too, and his wife doesn’t deserve this crap, but c’mon, guy.
As DrDeth said, Trump chose according to who wouldn’t steal the spotlight. Of course that didn’t quite work out, did it?
But if Trump had truly wanted someone who would be so loathed and despised that he, Trump, would look good by comparison—well, he did a fairly decent job of that with the Vance pick. But there were other options even more loathed and despised than Vance: the Pharma Bro, the cop convicted of murdering George Floyd, Armie Hammer…the list goes on.
So it’s likely that Trump thought Vance would be a deferential little mini-me for him—not the headline maker that he turned out to be.

It’s a toss up between him and Rudy, but he’s got nothing on George Santos.

Part of what makes Vance “weird” is that a real politician should have no problem handling this. “Oh, yeah, that was the party at Luke’s house. We were college kids joking around, thanks for the memory!” But he’s probably terrified of Trump seeing him in a dress.
