Snow is sufficient but not excessive here on the west-central shore of Lake Michigan.
It’s sticking now. I just went for a little drive down to the store for horseradish. Temperature is down to 34ºF according to the carmometer.
Blizzard Warning??? Wow, thats a first. Never in 40 years have I seen that here. Winter weather advisory is typical. Sure hope my power stays on.
Aceplace, that Blizzard warning is the warmup for the “Winter Apocalypse” that we are suppose to experience in the Bootheel of Missouri tonight. Nearly 4 pm here and the snow is suppose to start at about 5 pm. A friend called about an hour ago from St Louis and she is on her way home. I hope she makes it here before it starts cuz I have a feeling if it is not, she will be calling me to come get her.
I got plenty of food and supplies to last me until the weekend and I am not planning to leave unless the roads are clear.
We just had scattered patches of leftover snow for Xmas, but it’s supposed to start snowing later tonight and they’re forecasting 6-10" before it’s all over Thursday a.m.
Guess it’s too early to set out the tomato plants.
We had one today in Schenectady: just enough snow fell to coat the ground, but not enough to mess up the roads.
For us it rained most of Christmas day, making the temperature a very pleasant 20 degrees. (I miss living in Ohio where it snowed every winter – it never ever snows where I live now.)
Iowan checking in. We had a white Christmas, thanks to a blizzard last week. I’m ok if that’s the only snow we get. I hate moving snow.
Tucson here. The last white Christmas here was 25 years ago. I was just glad we at least had a chilly Christmas.
I only remember one as well around 2001, sounds right. Looks like we’re in for a colder winter than last year, good. I can’t stand rainy, slushy winters. Drives me nuts.
Here in Regina, Saskatchewan, it’s been snowing since mid-November, without much wind, and lots of frost. That means our trees and streets look just like a Christmas card - snow everywhere, snow on the evergreens, snow on the elms, hoar frost on everything, the Lege beautiful in a snow-covered park.
Yeah, I’m in Fort Worth and we’ve got a couple of inches on the ground. It was my first white Christmas, too.
Yep, had one…in the Sierras…
The so-called Blizzard was not as bad as predicted. It started to sleet, and freezing rain about 7 pm last night and the snow started about 9 pm. By 11 pm the wind was howling and it was snowing pretty hard, but I think it looked like it was snowing harder because of the wind. We were told we would get over a foot of snow and we only got about 6" of very wet snow.
Plows came down my road at 11 am and I think I could get out of my un-shoveled driveway if I wanted to. My driveway has a Southern exposure and if it is sunny tomorrow it should be snow free so I am not shoveling.
I love to watch it snow, and the timing was terrrible. Snow came at at dark and left before dawn.
Well we (SE Mich) didn’t end up getting much more than a dusting yeterday, But right now? It’s coming down big-time and blowing sideways.
Tomorrow’s commute is going to be so fun!
We had a bit of snow Monday morning but it got washed away by the rain. Even more snow this morning but that, too, got washed away by the rain.
We had to drive about two hours through a NE Ohio blizzard this afternoon and early evening, but made it to our destination safe and sound. It looks very wintry outside right now.
For part of our New Year’s trip, we’ll be in some low mountains, and the Thai forecasting office predicts a nighttime temp of 55 degrees Fahrenheit. We’ve pulled out our sweaters from storage.
Snow hit Yakima Valley (in Eastern Washington State, if you care) late Christmas Eve and didn’t stop until early on the 26th. Three inches in total, but already starting to melt. Doubt it snowed at all in Western Washington.
It snowed in Birch Bay on Christmas Day, and then quite reasonably melted by morning.
