Just curious, do any of the photo links in that thread still work? I created a Photobucket account just so I could post the pictures, but I haven’t used that account in ages and I think they may have even shut it down at some point.

I noticed @Acsenray hasn’t posted for a bit. A couple posts in March, one in April. Nothing since then.
Anyone know anything about Otto?
He always had insightful things to say, and knew comic books…until he spent an evening getting overly frustrated and angry and did a suicide-by-mod.
He and Boyo Jim both lived near me, but I never met them. Jim taught an occasional class at the tech school where I taught. I SWEAR I saw him in a classroom one night, but he was explaining something up at the blackboard.
I so wanted to interrupt with “Is it true you always travel with a pillow and a parrot?”
If I am remembering correctly, Otto drove into a contentious topic and posted something sarcastically provocative at precisely the wrong moment, earning himself a suspension (IIRC it seemed to me a reasonable query on the surface but the mod on duty didn’t see it that way). He then flew completely off the handle at the mods and promptly got banned for good suicide-by-mod style.
I wonder if Marley ever wrote that book? I miss him and his wise words.
There was a married couple who lived near me that I haven’t seen in a very long time. I can’t recall the user name they had. I think her name started with an R and his with as S, but that’s as much as my brain will cough up.
I liked Otto, but I watched that as it happened and he didn’t give the mod much choice.
Are you guys remembering right? His banning was a mess, with a 600-post Pit thread complaining about it. It was only a few days after I officially joined the board, and I remember thinking WTF did I join.
It started with a thread about a vBulletin upgrade where people were making suggestions and mods were not in the mood for suggestions, then Ed gave a blanket warning to everyone to quit whining and followed it up with a dedicated thread. Otto made a very mildly snarky comment in that thread, and Ed dropped the hammer.
Maybe there was a suspension for something else earlier, but it had nothing to do with his banning.

My memory of that is that they were leaning towards relenting but Otto made a sock to talk more shit which meant that there was no going back.
He posted a few times on the Giraffe Boards just after that but not for long.
I remember that too (the sock bit).
I have to admit this thread is a big part of why I came back. Those who left know there were problems on the board. You can’t argue in GD, for example, because
- the same people always argue and don’t hear anyone new
- the same people always make the same arguements! sometimes you don’t even have to read it, you know xyz writer is always going to be in favor of xyz thingie
- sanctimonious bullshittery
But man, I had some good times on this board too. Some really fun times! I am also a lot busier in my life, I got a couple of promotions and now supervise my own staff and so my work life is a lot busier, which is when I primarily used to post.
