Who's missing that you really want to see on the Board?

Nothing to apologize for. We are in agreement… @pepperlandgirl, if you ever chance upon this thread, know that a lot of us miss you dearly.

I agree. Cecil, do you hear us, you’re are only hope!!!

sorry Kenobi

FinnAgain?

Apology accepted, Captain Beck.

Alessan: FinnAgain?

Yeah, that seems right.

@Beckdawrek, your profile is still hidden, at least to me. I clicked on other posters’ avatars and they’re fine. Did you follow the instructions and remember to hit “Save Changes”?

Oh, wait. I’ll check again.

ETA: yeah, I was hid again. I changed themes and forgot to look. I re-un-hid.

It’s fine now! :slightly_smiling_face:

I still see Andygirl quite often. She’s mostly well, but she works in health care so the last few months have been rough.

Thanks for the kind words, @Lancia I enjoyed our chats back in the day. Wow…6 years ago?? I hope things are going well for you! I’d love to hear how things worked out.

I’ve drifted away from the Dope, but still try to read every now and then. I still lurk at times, especially when there are big news stories and events to follow.

My list would be too long. I did notice, however, that a fair number of people mentioned in this thread did show up to post in the TubaDiva threads, so they haven’t disappeared completely!

On my second read of this thread, I too thought of @ultrafilter and @Indistinguishable and wish they would return.

Also, Aussie posters @Cunctator and @Princhester (who did pop back in on being name-checked a couple of months ago.

Enjoyed discussing football (soccer) with owlstretchingtime, Gorilla Man, One and Only Wanderers, and chowder - though the way the latter stopped posting suddenly, we feared the worst there.

Ooh look I get an email when my name is mentioned.

Basically I am a master procrastinator. They say you are an alcoholic when your drinking starts to affect your work and family. By that metric I was an SDMB-aholic. By a very large margin. I had a difficult conversation with myself and decided I had to go cold turkey on this place. I’ve kept up my Charter Membership and I have this half baked thought I might come back when I retire.

Anyway, thanks for remembering me and hopefully you are still here if I decide I’m at a point where I can come back without 'effin my life up,

Princhester

And now I’ve been pottering around on the SDMB for about an hour and a half when I’m supposed to be working. See? I’m hopeless.

Yeah, this is why I don’t miss him. Pre-Trump he was much more constructive and interesting but subsequently he kept doubling down on defending the indefensible and ran out of road.

I do miss Una but I understand why she ultimately left - having the same argument over and over with new batches of transphobes (and sometimes the same ones again and again) is a Sisyphusian task. Better to go fight the battle somewhere that change can actually be made rather than waste your time arguing on a messageboard (he says, noting the irony).

And I’d like John Mace to come back as well.

I never expected to see my name in one of these threads; too low a profile, plus I never expected to leave. I haven’t quite left, but my already sparse posting has diminished even more of late. Thanks @Aspenglow and @River_Hippie for noticing.

I miss lieu and WordMan, but I am pen pals with them outside of here so they are still in my life.

There are many posters, long gone, who shared thoughtful advice. This board has had many insightful people, a few entertaining jerks and a few trolls.

There would be many names I don’t see often anymore: Racer72, Racinchikki, MattMcL, Lsura, Ultrafilter… there are dozens of others. I used to like Handy but many undiplomatic people have been banned. The guy very strongly against circumcision, inserting it into any possible argument, I forget his name, but made me chuckle.

Oh, it’s good to know that Cat Whisperer is still alive and well. I enjoyed her posts back in the day.

Bored w/ work, I was clicking around my profile. Where it listed the posters I had most frequently replied to, Eve was #1, John Mace #2.
