Who's Single and Available? (aka the Chilling / Comfort Thread)

Oh, what the Hell…

I’m male, 22, and I like the ladies (I mean, seriously, why wouldn’t I?)

Interests: Most things nerdy. I enjoy Star Wars and Star Trek, but I’m not a huge fan of either, so I don’t have any books, and only a few DVD’s (the original SW Trilogy and First Contact.) But, for being jsut a casual fan, I know more than I shoudl about both, mostly from hanging out with bigger fans. I’m also into computers and computer gaming. I build my own PC’s (or at least try…my current one has been busted for three months now, but I’m close to getting it working!) I like fantasy and roleplaying. I’ve played mostly D&D, and indeed it is my favorite and I am in the process of making my own campagin world for it. I’ve also played other ones, like Vampire, a couple Palladium ones(Rifts and Robotech) as well as trying others here and there. I love to cook, though I don’t do it as often as I would like. I used to be fairly active in theatre, but since graduating from college, there’s less chance to be invovled. I’d like to find a local community theatre or somthing and get back into it, though.

Books/TV/Movies: I love the Dragonlance series by Maraget Weis and Tracy Hickman. I don’t read as much as I would like, however, and my ‘to read’ list is probably a few hundred books long. :stuck_out_tongue: I love Office Space and Fight Club. My favorite TV show is Futurama cause it’s awesome! I also love 24, classic Simpsons, Law and Order: SVU, and the non-anime portion of Adult Swim.

Music: All over. Mostly alternative rock, but I enjoy lots of classic rock, soem metal, 80’s pop and hair bands, and lots of other random things. It’s easiest to say what I don’t like, and that’s 99% of all rap, hip-hop, and r&b. Apparantly I’m just too white.

I’m normally a shy individual until I get to know someone really well, then I can open up and really be myself. In that respect, I seem very introverted, but have the capacity to be very extroverted. Currently, I’m living in the middle of nowhere with a (relatively) new job. And, due to being in a new area and my shyness around peopel I don’t kow, I have no friends up here. :frowning: I’ll take pretty much whatever contact I can get, though currently it’s pretty much just email until my computer gets working (can check email at work jsut fine, but can’t really IM.) However, enough emails and you might be lucky enough to get my phone number…at which point you can call me and listen to my amazing ability to respond to almost any statement with just a one word response.

Man…looking over that last paragraph, I sound desperate…probably cause I am… :wally

I’m female, 23, bisexual, currently living in Boston.

For those with a Friendster account, this should lead to my profile, which is more complete than I have room for here.

I split my reading among classic fiction, contemporary fiction (mostly recommended by friends) and nonfiction on whatever interests me at the moment.

I’m currently working a blah desk job, but starting to do some graphic design work on the side. I stubbornly keep calling myself and artist, even though I’ve done pitifully little art since I graduated last May.

I like a variety of music. My favorite genres are folk rock, punk and electronica. I can’t stand pop.

I love campy sci-fi, horror and kung-fu movies. I love bad movies. I love good movies, especially Secretary and Hediwig and the Angry Inch. I don’t like most mainstream Hollywood movies, except when I just want to watch things blow up without having to think. I hate romantic comedies.

I have a secret domestic streak; I love to knit, cook, and garden. But not clean. Oh, god, I’m terrible at cleaning.

My long-term goal is to raise sheep and have a really big vegetable garden. Possibly in Scotland or Ireland.

I like smart people who are slightly crazy.

Hey, bouv… I just emailed you. How’d you get to keep your RPI email address after graduating? I had to get an alum address, which sucks 'cause it’s so much longer. Anyway, keep an eye out for an email from an alum address. That’d be me!

(sigh)
Zebra
Male 40, (seperated and getting a divorce)

I’m a quiet guy with a strange/dark sense of humor.

I really like movies. Any type of movies. I recently bought the DVDs of Eternal Sunshine and Bambi at the same time.

I am getting more into photography and I’m trying to open a part-time portrait studio. (mostly actor headshots) I also do some grapic design work for off-off broadway shows.

I do read and I try to have a mix of fiction/non-fiction. The fiction authors I’ve read the most are Heller, Thompson and Dick.

Music tastes are also varied. I was a music major when I went to college. I like classical*, jazz, as well as rock/pop.

I’m in search of friends (wife got most of those) and a girlfriend.

*I know the difference between classical/baroque/romantic/etc. I just called it all classical to keep it simple. I actually prefer romantic or baroque music to classical.

Southwestern Louisiana. We had a warm snap on the weekend, but it’s cooled down again, though nothing like what you have, I’m sure. Today I had to wear actual pants. Woe!

Let’s see: I’m an 18 year old female, currently in Virginia Beach, although I’m off to Fredricksburg come late August.

I love reading historical fiction, although I’m open to reading pretty much anything, provided it can hold my attention.

Favorite Movie = The Princess Bride.

I spend a lot of my time in the threatre department, either acting, directing, or doing costumes (or all three at once, for one show!) I enjoy languages (and speak fairly good Spanish), horseback riding, writing, history, and politics. I plan to major in International Affairs.

My favorite types of music are the soundtracks from musicals (Wicked is in my CD player right now) and punk rock.

[Joey]How you doin’?[/Joey]

Umm…I didb’t keep my old one. Apparantly, I never changed my email in my user profile. It’s changed now, though, so you can go ahead and resend the email.

(Of course now I wonder how the few dopers that have emailed me in the past few montha were able to do so…maybe the email forwarding was still in use at that point.)

:: sob ::
It was warm here today, if by ‘warm’ you mean ‘sunny and slightly above freezing’…

Jes’ fine, thanks. And you?

Oo, a lesbian affair with an 18-year-old! I’ll be the envy of all my guy friends

Okay, I’ll play. Some of you guys sound verrry interesting.

I’m 30 something, single, but not looking very hard. I have a master’s degree in Folklore, but right now I’m working in communications for a public health program until I can find a folklore-related job.

I like to cook (I’m an excellent baker), and I like almost any kind of food except seafood (but salmon and tuna are okay, and I do occasionally eat sushi). And I loooove chocolate. Chocolate makes me happy.

I have a lot of creative hobbies, so my house is always a mess. I do costumes for community theater (which isn’t as impressive as it sounds–mostly it involves spending a lot of time in thrift stores trying to find something that vaguely resembles something the character might wear). That doesn’t leave me much time to work on my own sewing projects, so I have a lot of unfinished things in my closet. I wouldn’t mind being independently wealthy so I could just quit working and make stuff!

I play the piano (not very well)–a little classical, but mostly ragtime. It’s just fun to play! I’m learning to play the harp, but I’ve only taken lessons for 6 months, so I can’t play much yet. I listen to mostly alternative music–I’m getting into My Chemical Romance, and I still like grunge. The last concert I went to was Papa Roach.

I like long walks in the forest, animals (I have two very cute bunnies, Billie and Murray), reading (I’m trying to get caught up on Christopher Moore–I’m reading Lamb right now), and sunshine. I watch too much TV (mostly CSI–but not CSI Miami–and Law & Order). I like goofy cartoons–The Simpsons, Invader Zim, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Spongebob, Looney Tunes, Pinky and the Brain (and the Animaniacs).

What I’m looking for in a man:
A good sense of humor (a little dark, but mostly goofy).
Likes to cook (I like to cook, but I like it even more if someone cooks for me!). If you cook, I’ll do the dishes!
A little offbeat, not too conventional, snuggly, intelligent, creative, ticklish, likes music (but not rap or country).
And most important, I’m divorced, so I’m looking for someone who’s not like my ex! Mostly that means letting me do all the weird little things I like to do. No complaining about sewing all over the kitchen table or dyeing in the sink.

Dark? Check. Goofy? Check-check.

I like to cook. I’d like someone to cook for.

Check, check, check, check, check, I’m not sayin’, check (but I’ll listen to rap, though I don’t own any).

I like weird. Weird is my favourite thing. No complaining about my film gear all over the place.

She plays RAGTIME?!

swoon

How you doin’?

Lets see. I’m 25, male, into women. I don’t know if i’m looking anymore. I am more or less feeling like 80-90% of the time when I like a woman she doesn’t desire me, and it gets to be demeaning and tiring after a while because I know women care about this stuff too.

Hobbies: Computer games (half life mods are the best), psychology, self determination (take that however you want, it just means learning how to get the skills you need to get what you want), several of the scientific fields like physics and chemistry, outdoors stuff, meditation, family.

Its hard to list everything right now as its cold and my hands are numb. But that is a good primer.

I can feel your pain. After just finishing up being head of costumes for Death of a Salesman, I just found out I got the same position for Honk! (the ugly duckling the musical), which has incredibly numbers of characters, and we’re even getting a local elementary school involved as ducklings, and they’ll all need costumes too.

Fun!

Me:

25 year old single gal. Don’t have kids, but I do have a fish I have kept
alive for 4 years. Lives in Ontario. Works in tech support. Also involved
with dog rescue.

I likes: being silly, long car rides. Favorite food is pizza, I’m a
vegetarian, not a vegan though. Love going to the cottage and if I was
allowed would spend the whole summer there in the water.

You:

Male, breathing, age not important, but easy going disposition is. Oh, a Texas accent…that would be awesome (I’m not superficial, honest)

WTF? Did you share anyplace that has a link to it?
'Ello, my name is Inigo Montoya

37, hopelessly hetero guy, seperated (she started it…) in Denver.
MagicEyes could be accused of being my sock-puppet (down to the CSI)
Also:
Fixed, 3 kids shared with mom, a little crazy.
Hobbies: household plumbing/electrical/drywall/windows/general remodel; intermediate car maintenance & repair; vegetable garden (I WILL have canteloupes this year!), cookin’ yummy/healthy (but not weird) stuff–Basically, if it involves making/fixing/nurturing something I’m either already into it or wanna learn it. Love making beer & wine & love. I Have kept a bunch of fish alive in a 55 gallon aquarium for 5 years.
Music: Depends on the mood–not a big Limp Bizkit fan though.
Movies: Lord of The Rings – can’t help it. Also: Joe Vs. The Volcano, Shirley Valentine & Harold & Maude and of course Princess Bride. Pretty much anything with Jeff Goldblum (Mr. Frost!). There are few that I refuse to watch.
Reading: No newspapers or insurance texts unless I absolutely have to. For pleasure it’s fiction/literature.
Activities: Sports are for playin,’ not for watchin.’ LOVE Softball, will play anything else but basketball–I just suck at it. Deadly with a rifle, pretty good with a shotgun, outright spaz with bow & arrow. NOT a hunter, but I do accompany an elk hunter. I tote a camera and show him what I didn’t kill during the course of the day. I Wanna travel.

Male 35, 6’ tall dark (slightly greying) curly hair, brown eyes. English ex-patriot living in California.

I am a shy exhibitionist, with a good sense of humour. I like to party and dance at Goth, 80’s, and fetish events arround San Francisco. I love to flirt with everybody, but am attracted only to women. I love food and eating out, I am also skillful cook. My time is spent too much on playing computer games and watching films, I would prefer to spend more time living it up with friends but most of my local friends are married and have other commitments.
Interests iclude a wide variety of music styles from classical to classic rock, and from jazz to electronica. I am interested in medievil culture from arround the world, and am a compitent martial artist.

Man, I hate it when call centers use tech-support fish. IT professionals shouldn’t eat their own poop.

groooaaannn Why do you have to be on the wrong coast? Hm, my mom and step-dad live north of SF, maybe it’s time to go visit them again . . . .

Oh yeah…if I were anything other than hetero, I’d be all over Johnny L.A.. He even digs the same kind of chicks as me from what I’ve gathered here & in other threads. Shucks, if my bim of a wife tries to move back to Washington with our kiddies, I may look him up as a flatmate. Just in case he gets lucky and she’s got a twin sister!

Great guy. Deserves a break. Preferably a break with a twin sister!
