Aparently so, 'cause this thing dropped like a stone!
Let’s get this rolling, we’re talking only 2.5 weeks away. Who’s definite, who’s still thinking?
I’m looking at my calander, and I have nothing that weekend, so barring anything dramatic, I’m in, if I can find some folks who might want to share driving expenses in exchange for a ride out.
Well, the event is on for sure. I’ve already told my kids and a few friends that I’m cooking, so I’ll be there even if just for them.
There will be roast lamb, hamburgers and hotdogs. Any vegetarians? I can get some veggie-burgers if anyone speaks up, although last time only one got eaten. I’ll bring buns for the boigers and 'dogs, and the required Cross & Blackwell’s Mint Sauce for the lamb.
Any volunteers to bring the following?[ul][]Regular salad[]Cole slaw/pasta salad/potato salad[]Soft drinks[]Paper plates and plastic cutlery[*]Condiments (ketchup, mustard, relish & pickles)[/ul]
Matt - you’d be welcome to stay at my place if that helps to defray the costs a bit. I’m right downtown.
<Ottawa Pride Hijack>
I’ll be in Ottawa for both Saturday and Sunday with a musician who is playing events on both days. We’ll likely be travelling by car in orer to bring the little bit of gear she’ll be carrying.

So far, including tentatives and maybes and people who haven’t weighed in since we set a date, we have:[ul][li]Booker57[]cherry[]Dr_Paprika[]Eats_Crayons[]Eonwe[]kung fu lola[]matt_mcl[]scott evil[]Sunspace[]Tengu[]theotherangel[*]wolfstu[/ul]Anyone want to change their status from “tentative” to “definite” or “not attending?” I’m just trying to get a gauge of numbers for buying food and what-not, so it’s okay if you “yea” or “nay” and then change your mind at the last minute.[/li] matt, you have two accomodation options, a possible ride with eonwe (and kung fu lola?) and I’m sure we can cover the ferry, so it could be a $0.00 trip for you! Anyone else held back only by financial concerns?
If anyone is in desperation for a place to sleep, I can do the air-mattress-on-the-floor thing for sleeping accomodations. Though I must warn you, I live in a bachelor apartment…
The other thing I’d like to work out is how I can go to both TronnaDope and Ottawa Pride, since I’ll be having a commitment during Montreal pride this year, unfortunately.
I should be able to attend festivities on Friday and Saturday, barring changes in my schedule. I’d take Cerowyn up on his offer of a place to stay (if available) and would be willing to bring any Cole slaw/pasta salad/potato salad, soft drinks, paper plates and plastic cutlery, condiments (ketchup, mustard, relish & pickles) for the entire crew.
I’m less sure I can stay around on Sunday, though.
With the same caveats as last time, the list looks like this:[ul][]Booker57[]cherry[]Declan[]Dr_Paprika[]Eats_Crayons[]Eonwe[]kung fu lola[]matt_mcl[]scott evil[]Sunspace[]Tengu[]theotherangelwolfstu[/ul]Dr_Paprika, the offer is certainly still open. How far north of Toronto are you?
The date is July 3rd at Hanlan’s Point. I’m sure I could pick you up around 11:00 AM at the bus station (Greyhound, I presume?). What part of the world are you coming from? I’m coming from Brampton, so perhaps there’s somewhere else I could pick you up from.
I’m maybe 60 minutes North of Toronto. I don’t need a place to stay if another Doper from further afield needs it, but it would be handy if drinking is going to be involved on Friday night.
Oh, there’s no fear of running out of room And of course, I would certainly appreciate help with the preperation on Friday night. Free drinks for those put to work.
Hm… can I get a shout-out from Montrealers who are definitely going and would definitely like a ride with me?
I figure to head up on Friday afternoon/evening. I can take a little time off of work on Friday, so departure time can be flexible. Last time I went to Toronto it took me… geez, I don’t even remember. I think it took a lot longer to get there than to come back. I think the short end of the trip was under six hours.
I’d be taking a Greyhound up from London. The only problem is that the journalism program at Western has a nasty habit of springing weekend assignments on us at the last minute, so I probably won’t know until the Wednesday of that week whether I can escape.
But a ride would be soooooooo appreciated. I’d probably also need a floor to sleep on, if anyone has room (I’m pretty skinny, so you could store me in a closet or lazy susan if need be ).
