Basically, I am a small town newspaper editor (anytime you see an old-time newspaper editor on one of those old movies on television - pretty much me). The town’s about 1,200 (nearest Macdonalds is about 80 miles away - The local high school had 16 people graduate last year) and the circulation of my paper is about 2,000. I was in the Army, the Peace Corps and basically hitch-hiked around the world doing odd jobs.
Besides newspapering, I’ve worked as a radio DJ, a short order cook, a teacher and I still hold my SAG card and three or four college degrees.
I also make spare change writing detective fiction. I periodically come to the board members for help with plot devices. Most recently they helped me commit murder with a bolt of ice.

I’m married to the beautiful Beloved, to whom I refer from time to time, but who does not post on the SDMB. (She tactfully refers to it as “your obsession.”) No kids, two crazy dogs.
I tend to post about the role of the Crown in Canada, occasional comment on US legal/constitutional issues, and the Riders.
Not interested in hockey, so won’t jump into the Habs/Senators/Leafs thing.
I occasionally contribute to limerick threads, as well as cooking threads. (Ukelele Ike rocks in this area, by the way. He has the courage to cook with lard, something that we timourous cholesterol counters can only dream about.)
Aside from the occasional taunts from Pipeliner about the Riders (he’s a Bombers infidel) don’t have much of a profile here.
Have never met any other Dopers in real life.
Crunchy forgot to mention he is a baseball expert, does great funny voices, and is, deep down, a big sweetheart. I’m honored to be friends with him.
