Why are you watching the Harris/ Trump debate?

I agree. I got my Tivo already set up.

Once again, cue up some Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

No. The only people I’ve seen besides you who claims Kamala did a bad job were MAGA. And then they’d turn around and saying she got softball questions—implying they actually thought she came off well.

The articles I saw said she did a good job, with one even saying they hope she’ll bring the same to the debate. The worst I’ve seen is people saying it was boring. Not that she was actually bad.

Not that I’m trying to debate it here. I’m sure it was discussed extensively in other threads. Just pointing out that it’s not just one person who didn’t think she did horribly.

(oh, and @Cardigan: I totally missed your /s at first. Especially since the next reply played it straight.)

I hope Harris rolls out some classic movie lines, like from Happy Gilmore:
Mr. Trump, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

How about this classic from an actual vice presidential debate?

I’m going to watch it, because it’s possibly going to be a historic moment. Before the last debate, who would have predicted it would lead to Biden dropping out, and throwing a curveball to everything everyone was expecting this election to be?

It kind of feels like having a chance to watch Hitler at the Nuremburg Rallies. Even if you know how awful he was, and how things turned out, there’s no denying that they were historically significant.

I just wanna watch cheato make a complete Ass of himself. I trust I will not be disappointed!

Why are you watching the Harris/Trump debate?

Because our neighbors are throwing a watch party and we want to get to know them better!

If not for this social aspect, my spouse and I would not watch live, preferring instead to consume post-debate analysis and clips.

(Same thing for State of the Union addresses. Even when delivered by presidents I like, the whole affair is just so tedious.)

Another “won’t watch it” here. I don’t watch political “debates” in the first place; they aren’t really debates, just politicians trying to manipulate the audience into supporting them. And I don’t want to even look at Trump’s picture, much less listen to his disgusting gibbering.

I discovered long ago that I lack the patience to just sit and watch a debate. My wife will watch it, though, and I will sit in the other room doing something else. I’ll hear it, of course, but my mind will be otherwise occupied. I’ll probably read some real-time online reactions.

And the mere sight of Trump makes me want to ralph, so there’s that too.

Yeah, I didn’t watch Biden’s, and I at first took the criticisms for people looking for something to complain about. If I had watched it, I would have had a better idea for myself.

But I’m sure I could have found it on youtube someplace; I just didn’t do so.

Hell, Trump can’t clarify his stance from one end of a sentence to the other. Consider your choices here.

He’s not allowed to. They’re both supposed to stand at their podiums.

He can’t talk over her, either. Their mics will be off when it’s not their turn to speak.

And one who doesn’t pay attention. Trump doesn’t pay his contractors.

Yeah, he and Putin are pretty much the two main people about whom I keep wondering why they can’t just drop dead and save everyone a lot of headaches.

Honestly, I haven’t made up my mind yet on whether or not I’ll watch it. I didn’t watch the last one, I just read the debate thread here. I may do that again. Or not. Maybe I’ll try watching it this time. If I do I’ll probably look like this the whole time: :grimacing:. Or maybe this: :face_with_peeking_eye:. Possibly this: .

I’ll be watching it because, since my retirement, I find it harder and harder to stay connected with society, and this, like the Olympics, is a national event. And my 43 year old daughter’s gonna watch, so we can compare notes.

I’ll watch because I want to be able to participate in conversation/correct rumors. Also, I’m skipping a different activity tonight in order to watch with my lovely wife, who wants to see it, and I don’t want her to be by herself if it’s as upsetting as the Biden-TFG debate.

Those who will be watching can play debate bingo with the cards I’ve made up.

Thsnk you. We are starting with the Philly Inquirer’s bingo. USAToday has some as well. Yours are, of course, superior.

OK. I’m a bad citizen. I made it about 15 minutes in before I had to turn it off. Just couldn’t listen any more. To either of them.

At his point it is just morbid curiosity.

Not watching. I can’t stand Trump and what he represents.

Pretty predictable.
Harris is doing well.
Trump’s eye-rolling & funny faces make him look like an Evil Muppet.
