Why do women say the opposite of what they mean?

This is soooo not a gender thing. I come from a family of “i don’t care”-ers. I am a widow/solo mum, with parents who seperated after 32 years of marriage. I have one child (poor poor only child lol) and he has no cousins on the horizon, so my parents (and yes I am grateful!!!) think “days out” are a very good thing. It works like this…

Mum rings " I think we should have a day out"
Me " yes that would be good, what do you want to do?"
Mum “I don’t care, what do you want to do?”
Me “I don’t mind , whatever you and Dad want to do” ( i really sooooooooooooooo don’t care)
Mum " How about the beach or the zoo?"
Me “yep that would be fun”
Mum " ok I will ring Dad"

minutes later

Dad “Hi mum says you want to go to the beach”
Me “I dont care …what do you want to do?”
Dad “I don’t care either…i think mum wants to go to the beach though”
Me “ok so the beach it is”
Dad “Ok I will ring Mum”

minutes later

Mum says “Dad says you want to go to the beach”
Me “i don’t mind”
mum lets ask the child
child says “i don’t care” !!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yes we are dysfunctional…and no, I don’t care
