Quite obvious, really. Yes.
No.
The only reason I got it so quickly was because a few years ago I realized a large number of headlines I read (Daily News (front page only), New Yorker, Village Voice, New York Press) are going for some sort of allusion (or wordplay), so I always look for them, even when there may not be one.
No (and I feel dumb because normally I’m not so bad at picking up on these things).
Yes, immediately.
I get the feeling that most of us who don’t get it are embarrassed to admit it. So I’ll man up. I didn’t get it.
I’ll put this is a spoiler box for those who want to answer first:
There was a famous Nazi propaganda film called (in English) “Triumph of the Will.” Very influential film which you can see here. George Lucas, as just one of many examples, borrowed from it for the final scene in Star Wars.
Da.
I also did not get it. Never heard of the contents of the above spoiler box.
Yeppers.
That explains why I had never heard of it, then.
Nope. And I’d also never heard of what the spoiler box describes.
Yes.
Was there anything interesting about the photo? It seems rife for some sort of additional allusion…
Yup. Even noticed the references to it in The Lion King.
Yes.
Yes.
But I don’t see what Will Smith has to do with The Lion King.
Ja.
I checked that movie out of the library once. It’s pretty well done. This is what creates the dispute about the director.
It’s harder if you know the referenced title only in its original language.
Yes, but I would have missed it if you didn’t mention Hitler first.
