If you’re a crappy friend then I’m an even worse friend because it was tough but I learned to say “no” and still sleep good at night. It wasn’t an easy thing to do but I had to. Not doing it was partly what helped me have my first coronary. And if you wait that long to learn it --------- well, lets just say I hope you’re smarter than I was.
She’s in a tough place but so are you. You have other relationships and IIRC family of your own who need your attention now and then. If you put everything aside just for her you aren’t doing justice to anyone - you, her, anyone. You can find ways to spread it around; get others to join you in helping like neighbors or other family. But you ain’t Atlas and you can’t take the weight of the world on yourself; or even just one other person.
So my prayers and hugs and hopes that you find a balance that fits you. As for the balance that fits her? That is her’s to find.
FCM - no, the job doesn’t mean I’ll be moving but he will! It’s only a 3-month contract at the moment, six months at the most and it’s with a company who are known for not liking to have contractors on a long-term basis. He did say that if he got a good contract overseas then he’d consider a permanent move but this is not going to be the one. Still, it does mean he’ll be living over there during the week so Sunday-Thursday nights will be mine, and he’ll be getting home around 10.30pm on a Friday night. I can deal with that…
The band absolutely rocked last night, had a fantastic time. Since he was coming home yesterday instead of today and the band weren’t on until 10pm, I dipped out after the first couple of songs, met him on the way from the station, stashed his bags in the car (conveniently parked very close to the venue) and he also managed to catch about 40mins of the show. Result!
I booked a day off for today so at some point I’m going into town for a mooch around, I have a couple of things to do anyway so I might as well do them today instead of tomorrow, there’s grocery shopping to do and other stuff too. But a 3-day weekend is still a 3-day weekend.
Buns, there’s being a friend, and there’s being a doormat. You have to know where to draw the line and so does she.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated. The big debate last night was whether to have lunch at the good Chinese place or Chilie’s. OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a burger from Chilie’s. I’d rather have Chinese but since he’s payin’, I guess it’ll be Chilie’s. On the upside, they do have good margaritas at Chilie’s and I ain’t drivin’.
StickyBuns you can only do so much. You have to take care of you and your stuff too. Sometimes you gotta say no and she’ll have to understand. Trust me if she needs it done bad enough she’ll find somebody to help. Do not feel guilty, ok?
MOOOOOOM I was all  when I saw the price of those cruises. Way too much! How do they stay in bidness! Oh wait, there are stoopid people who would pay that much for a domestic cruise. Nevermind!
Ah, and it’s my flex day, too. What to do with the extra hours this afternoon. Hmmm…decisions, decisions. Well, there’s always the fallback of shopping. Or maybe a nap.
Congrats to ‘im indoors’ and you, too, of course, boofae!
What swampy said, sticky. Help where you can and don’t feel guilty when you cannot.
Tonight’s filum: Inglorious Bastards. Should be good.
I put that in my Netfix account, set aside a night and streamed it over. Prior to the actual movie it had a stylized, monochromatic trailer (whatever it’s called when the opening credits roll) of some German soldier silhouette in the background getting blown up over and over again and I though hey, here’s Tarantino paying homage to some old film genre and then the movie started. It wasn’t Tarantino. I hadn’t realized that there was a real, older film with the same (nearly) name. So that’s the one you’re watching, the older version? I’ll be interested to hear what you think about the opening credit part. It reminded me too of something Sergio Leone might have created.
I forgot what hubby’s on, but that ain’t it. I’m sorry. But I usually go here for drug information. They have a fantastic drug interaction checker, too!
Sorry I’ve been away from the MMP for a while. I’ve been thinking about you guys and praying for everyone that needs it (and those that may not, too!). It’s just been crazy and all I’ve had time to do are hit-and-run responses.
Jules just jump in when ya can. We’re always here.
Puggy I vote for a nap. You need to rest up for movie night after all! I mean you will have all the prep work like makin’ popcorn, makin’ a drink, gettin’ all settled in to watch the move and so forth. That’s work. You need a nap to preserve your strength.
**Nava’s **response made me laugh because my friend is somewhat of a steamroller and always has been. (If you could ask GilaMonster, she’d definitely agree, especially from when we all worked together. )
I have a huge headache now and I’d really like to take a nap but there’s just no time. Maybe I’ll eat some lunch (N.O.L.) and see if I feel better.
Does stopping on the way at Target count towards shopping? I need to buy a couple bottles of my favorite body moisturizer that they only seem to have there. Seems like every time I find a favorite product, it goes out of production or something.
Hmmmmm, maybe I will pick up some movie popcorn to make, too! Mr. Anachi would like that.
Yesterday was Special Teen’s High-school Graduation!!!
…
:eek::eek::eek:!!!
Anyway, she graduated Magna Sum from perhaps the best school in the country, and got a Special Honors mention (one of 4 students in her class, behind the… Valedictorian, I think it’s called?) Yes, I’m damn proud of her!
And today I watched the US come back from 0-2 down to Slovenia, tie the score at 2-2, and get robbed od what looked like a perfectly legal winning goal (because the ref saw a foul just before the kick, which no one else seems to have seen… ) Oh well, good showing, anyway!
I feel like I might be hungry but I feel like I might be sick if I eat anything. Too much traveling makes me feel funny.
I’m finally in Chicago, waiting for my connecting flight to Dallas. Last leg of a ridiculous journey. US immigration was surprisingly easy to get through, although I was picked to have my bags rummaged through at Heathrow. I need to learn how to look more harmless.
Well, Puggy you are gettin’ popcorn which is an esential for movie night…
mmmmmm’s YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Continued good healing thoughts and prayers headed to your dad.
We had an early lunch at Chili’s. OYKW had the avacado burger (avocado?) and I had the southwestern chicken wrap. I brought half of my wrap home. It was hyuuuuuuuuuuuge! Plus nummy!
Now it’s pool time for a while before gearin’ up for the retirement doin’s this evenin’.
My husband is home early from work and pissed off. His company is really getting ridiculous. They started shipping all the new semis off to California so they could comply with some emissions law in Cali. Cali sent up really, really shitty trucks.
The first shitty truck my hubby drove this week had a broken floppy mirror and the driver’s seat was practically laying flat. Yeah, that’s real safe when you’re hauling a fifty three foot trailer full of goods.:rolleyes:
Today, when hubby went in, they tried to hand him a load which would have meant him sitting there for several hours because it was a dray load. Lost productivity, lost money. So, the dispatcher gave him a different load. He got to his second delivery of the day, when crappy truck number two broke down on him. He turned it off to find out where they wanted him to take the trailer, and when he came back out, the semi wouldn’t start. He sat there an hour and a half. He was pissed. He told them to pay him for today’s work and charge him four hours of PTO.
With regards to the dray load; he found out from the dispatcher, that the ramp manager is trying to get away from having those drayed out, and have the company drivers deliver them. ALL the drivers are pissed about that.
It’s just getting fucking ridiculous, but he’s trying to hang until he can retire. Jobs are just too hard to find right now.
Congrats to 'im indoors, Boo Fae.
I suppose I should get myself cleaned up now. I have errands to run.
