Good for you kai! Go and have some fun. You deserve it.
Coyote yay for a/c! Summer in our part of Amurrka is intolerable without it.
All dressed for Vestry meetin’. Well, pullover shirt, shorts and sneaks. I consider that appropriate wear for an evenin’ meetin’ in summer. One of the items on the agenda tonight is whether or not to purchase an antique pulpit. Should be interestin’. The money’s there but I’m still all iffy concernin’ is this the best way to spend it. It’s cool but would need to be refurbished. At least that’s my opinion from the pic I saw.
Howzzat for totally mundane and pointless minutiae?
I survived my first day of class. Actually the class was pretty good. In spite of having used this software for almost 6 years, I’m learning stuff that could have helped me out many times. Self-teaching ain’t always the way to go.
The drive there and/or back runs 1.5-2 hours. I ran into a coworker who told me a quicker alternate route - maybe only 10 minutes quicker, but I’ll take what I can get. I’m going to check it out on mapquest in a few minutes.
Remember daughter’s friend who went into labor last week? Well, she went to the hospital for real just after midnight, and Autumn Dawn was born around 8:30. 6#12oz, 20", and minimal head deformation, since the labor was pretty quick! Daughter was at the hospital thru the wee small hours, then came home after the baby arrived. She tended to her pup, then went back for more baby visiting. She’s now getting ready for bed - I expect she’ll be asleep in no time.
**FCD **wants to go on a cruise the first week of July. Except we don’t have passports. And because of my clearance, I have stuff I have to do before I can leave the country. I don’t see it happening… I know he needs a break, but doggone, this is short notice, and apart from the cost of the cruise, I truly do not have any appropriate clothes. I need to persuade him to try a less international vacation for now. We shall see.
I seem to have survived Monday, including getting my hair cut. Yay!
Glad things are final, kai! Hope you have a really fun time in California.
Nice change of pace on the training, FCM.
My great gardening accomplishment for today: watered what I planted yesterday since it had completely failed to rain today. Of course it started raining as I was watering. Not enough to make watering a waste of time, at least.
Am pondering dinner. Not really hungry, though.
Hugs to all.
ETA: forgot to say: got Bobbio all signed up for next week.
Well, that was interesting. I called AT&T because today my daughter tried to leave me a voice mail message and got a recording that said I didn’t have voice mail service. So I called this evening. Turns out I haven’t had voice mail since January. Obviously I don’t use my phone much…
We had a nice rain, so I don’t have to water my 'maters.
Very very tired- have had baby in carrier pretty much all day, and just walked him for an hour trying to get him to sleep. Wouldn’t sleep- transferred to Mr. Lissar and they’re off until baby conks. Should be soon- we’ve been going to bed about ten or ten-thirty. I am looking forward to the less-newborn stage where I can put kid down and he can play for ten minutes.
We’ve been listening to a Sandra Boyton cd I borrowed from a friend, and her song The Uninvited Loud Precision Band is really really funny. I love her stuff- she does kid’s books and music that’s clever. "We’re the Uninvited Loud Precision Band! It’s the best intruding band in all the land!’
More {{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}} for the Taters family. As much as you miss Cap’n (and what a handsome guy!), I vote to wait a bit too.
Yay for kai, hope you have a great vacation, lady. Sending positive vibes your way.
Today is the 7th anniversary of my Mom’s passing. This morning, on my way to the bus stop, I heard a cell phone ring. I looked around and didn’t see a soul (other than myself … LOL); I even looked in my purse at my phone, which I knew wasn’t ringing because it wasn’t on. Then the ring tone changed … into what sounded like a bird call! I was standing next to a power pole and looked up and there on the tippy top of the power pole was a mocking bird, doing it’s thing! They will apparently imitate anything, and this one had just done a pretty good imitation of a cell phone ring tone! So funny and a positive thing on a sad day.
Well, one day down, only four more to go. oh and Haze? Olive is such a beautiful girl! Have a safe trip and a great vacation.
I think that was good for me. I’m feeling less “brittle”.
I’ve been looking at dogs, mainly lab mixes, on shelter, rescue and humane society sites. I’m not looking for a replica of my Cappy; there will never be another Cappy, but I am looking.
I saw a few that tugged at my heart. I know, I know, some of you think I should wait, and yesterday, and even this morning, I didn’t think I wanted another right away. I’m not even saying we’ll get one right away, but it doesn’t hurt to look.
Friday is my RDO, and I plan on driving down to the Humane Society to see what’s available and if there’s one that is a match for me and the family.
I happen to love labs or lab mixes. They’re steady, loving, ever ready to please, and gentle. At least all the black lab or black lab mixes I know have been.
The fact of the matter is, I love dogs and I really miss the insane happy greetings and doggy kisses. I have plenty of love to share and Cap’n will always remain in my heart.
Hey, it’s Nooner! Of course we missed you - what else did you think?
And a surprise visit from Kai with some excellent news. I’m so glad your divorce is final at last, you’ve had to wait such a long time for that. It’s a shame that the new woman is right next door but I am certain you can deal with that. The trip to CA sounds wonderful too, I hope it brings you all you hope for.
Taters, there’s no harm in looking at shelter pets just now. You know that you’re not trying to replace Cap’n, but these critters do leave a big hole when they go, and you know there’s a deserving animal out there who needs you. When the time is right, the perfect dog will come along and fill that gap, it is no disrespect to Cap’n or his memory and you shouldn’t feel that it is.
Congrats, peedin, and welcome to the happy troop of Mumpers!
I am less blurfy today, had a call last night from the friend who’s coming to see Anvil with us on Thursday night. He was at Gatwick airport on his way back from Le Mans, turns out he’s been employed by BMW to photograph their race cars this season so he’s really happy about that. He is a very talented photographer and would probably love to make a career of it, it says a lot about his work that BMW got a personal recommendation about him and were told not to bother looking at anyone else, just take him on. I’m looking forward to seeing the results.
I think it must be time for tea now. I have Fat Club to look forward to, our class leader has some fancy new computerised system to use now so we’ll all be getting special cards and a new weighing-in method. I am thnking thin thoughts.
I’m having to remind myself that This Time I Am Not Buying Furniture. It should get less bad once I’ve got a bed, that takes up a lot of space. I’m not buying endboards, this time, just the mattress and… uh… what do you call the part under it in English? You know, with the legs. That part. Anyway. I’m just buying the barebones bed, as it were, and hanging up a pretty scarf to act as headboard.
But I like storage units and gizmos too much… someone keep me away from the pretty cupboards with glass doors, please!
