No company, but the PHB may show up Thursday : bangs head against wall : I went on a beer run, so now I have plenty of beer and TP if the zombies come.
Yay for Shinycat!
I see a challenge for August.
gotti, I think the broken foot would have been the least painful option, unless they were radioactive spiders.
I could supply the gnomes, **Bobbio. ** For some odd reason, everybody gives them to me. I don’t like them, so now it’s a big joke.
We’ve just returned from the Humane Society. We pick up our new dog on Saturday. We adopted a 2 year old white Siberian Husky mix. He sure did like me. My husband, son and I spent some time getting to know Polar in a visitation room. He immediately glommed on to me, although he was sharing his love and doggie kisses with my husband and son as well. He’s certainly not as verbal as my Cappy was, but then again, that may change with time.
We wanted a black lab that we saw there, but he had only just arrived in the shelter and wasn’t eligible for adoption until Friday. He appeared to be in excellent shape and well taken care of, so I would think/hope his owners will come looking for him. I sure did fall in love with him, though. I’m seriously considering seeing if he’s still there when we pick up Polar on Saturday. Maybe the shelter will work out a deal with me seeing as how I just now adopted Polar. They give reduced prices if you adopt more than one.
That’s pretty much been the extent of my day. I’m still fighting a raging headache. I don’t know what the hell is going on with that, but I wish it would stop.
I was claimed by Sapphire at the shelter, and that claim was confirmed the day I got her home and within two hours she was on the sofa next to me purring. So much for not seeing her for a couple of days like with every other cat I’ve had around. Yay for Polar! scritch scritch Do be warned, huskies shed like crazy…so do labs, though, come to think of it.
FCM, what you’re not going to believe is the way the locals bitch about how hot it is. They do here, and except for perhaps three days of the entire summer, I have no idea why. I guess after nearly three years I count as a local, but I will never comprehend “Oh noes, it’s 85F! WE’RE GONNA DIE!!!”
Hey, palebunny - tell them Texans wish they would FOAD… It was almost 100° today, and about one zillion degrees inside my car. I thank the inventor of air conditioning for making my ride home from work tolerable.
Taters - I’m happy for you! There will always be a place in your heart for Cap’n, but there’s always room for more puppy love! I hope you get the Lab mix, too. I miss my babies. i wake up early in the morning thinking about Dipsey. They better be taking good care of him! :grr:
Work is crazy, but we’re ahead of schedule and have a good plan. We are refurbishing and modifying an existing Xmas tree, and there’s a lot of work to be done. They made me lead designer, so I’m scheduling all the work. I was overwhelmed at first, but I’m feeling more confident as the project progresses. Yay me! Tomorrow we announce to the “world” our timeline - it will be set in stone so everything must progress in a timely manner.
Cross your fingers that I do a good job!
I’m crossing fingers for 'im indoors.
I hope i didn’t forget anybody’s important news. Rosie’s sig to those to whom it applies!
You know, rebo, I can’t believe that woman even had the nerve to show up at your door after month to take Dipsey away. I would be furious too.
I’m kind of slipping little hints about the lab to hubby so it won’t be a total surprise that I want him, if he’s still there on Saturday.
For instance, I just got done informing him that Siberians don’t generally bark, or alert to strangers. I pointedly mentioned that Labs DO bark and we should really have that here at the house. I also pointed out that it might be very good for Polar to have a friend here with him to keep him occupied so he doesn’t, say, eat our couch. I mentioned that in several sites I’d checked out, it stated that Siberian’s are social dogs and do better with friends.
I’m working on him. I really hope the Lab is still there Saturday. I may just drive down on Friday (I’m off work), to see and put a deposit down. I figure hubby can yell and then get over it.
Hmmm, my evil plan to obtain the lab is hitting road bumps. Hubby saw me looking at him and told me we could get the Lab instead of Polar, if I wanted.
I told him that we couldn’t back out on adopting Polar. We’re committed, and we’re not backing out. I honestly couldn’t do that. So, I will continue to nibble with hints and maybe, just maybe, if the Lab is still there Saturday, and he sees him again, he will succumb and let us get BOTH.
I got offered a husky puppy “with good pedigri” (is that fancyspeak for inbred? with some breeds, it sure seems to be) for free yesterday, but had to refuse because I can’t commit myself to a doggie. I hope the puppies do find good humans…
Nava, pedigree animals are not exactly inbred but they do come from a few selective blood lines. The lady who runs our local cattery breeds Maine Coons and has a beautiful tom she breeds from but is having to retire him as he’s been through the local female population and she doesn’t want the bloodlines to become too narrow.
I am having a blurf kind of morning - 'im indoors is off to the land of chocolate and waffley beer this afternoon so I should know by lunchtime tomorrow if he has got the job. If so, he’ll be staying over there until Friday and coming back late that night, returning again on Sunday. And that will become the pattern of life! I am feeling very slightly guilty about hoping he gets the job simply because I’ll get a bit of peace at home during the week. How naughty is that?
Taters - good luck with Polar, perhaps Mr Taters will come round in the end and decide that two goggies are better than one?
Yay for job offers, I am hoping to add one more to the list tomorrow!
