Will This Be The New Year MMP?

**MetalMouse **- FWIW, I got some of those bleach tablets that you drop in the toilet tank, and they seemed to do a good job of making the bowl white again. I don’t recall what brand, but they’re not the ones that turn the water blue - those are worthless.

Just finished going over the drawing I did yesterday - missed a few things, but not a lot. Time to let the engineer know it’s ready for his perusal.

BTW, I forgot to mention that yesterday I got an email from my first Navy boyfriend - he sent me a photo of the two of us circa 1973. Holy crap - was I ever that young?? We were adorable! But I did dodge the bullet with him. He’s since had 4 marriages (3 ended in divorce, one in death) 5 kids (most of whom don’t talk to him) and I don’t know how many grandkids. On one hand, I feel sorry for him, but he obviously doesn’t always make good choices.

Anyway, back to work…

What restrictions were in place for dating in the military?

Well, 1973 was way before DADT, so there was that. Otherwise, as long as you were off duty, your life was pretty much your own, with the common sense of not dating your boss/subordinate stuff. Plus no opposite sex in the barracks building beyond the lobby.

Tho by the time I was in OCS, men and women were living on the same hallway, but that was another world…

Morning all. I’ve read but did not retain. Hope everyone id doing well.

Speaking of the military. today I sold two sheet music items to what seems to be a US Army address.

Like everyone else in this country ----- ya shoulda grown up in the Endless Mountains in the 60s. I still consider anything under an inch an hour to be flurries. And other than freezing rain (or possibly frogs or aircraft) there is nothing that can fall from the sky that worries me much.

Cool deal! Is it a military base or an APO?

Forecast still calling for 1-3" of snow overnight and into tomorrow. ugh. Not that I had any plans for the weekend - I just don’t want snow. Or cold. Dammit.

Four more hours. Woe is me!!! <dramatic pose of long-suffering>

Jealous, party of me.

I’m going to have to stay at irk tonight because I don’t want to risk the half-hour drive at oh-dark-thirty tomorrow morning. They’ve already sprayed the main roads around here, so at least someone’s prepared.

Where do you people live that 1-3 inches of snow is a snowpocalypse? It was ONE degree on my drive to irk.

Had a salami sammich on Pepperidge Farm white bread for lunch. Twas nummy. Part two will be a slad and PopChips.

Anywhere near the DC metro area goes into total mental meltdown if a snowflake is sighted. You’d think it never snowed here before. Of course, a large part of the problem rests with morons who don’t adjust their driving to suit conditions. I don’t care how many wheel drive your SUV might be - ice is slippery, and if you don’t treat it accordingly, you’ll find yourself in a ditch, or worse.

Morons - the lot of them!!!

butters, look on the bright side: at least it wasn’t snowing where you are when your battery died.

You’re welcome, emily
.

Glad you’re feeling better, BooFae. If your gym has a steam room available, take advantage of it after your workout.

metal mouse, I learned to drive in NE Indiana, but down here, it’s the folks who didn’t that make driving in the snow really dangerous. As far as your commode goes, I agree with Moooom about the bleach, although I don’t get that fancy. I swab the bowl out once a week with laundry bleach and a toilet mop and that takes care of things. If your rings are of the hard water variety, try some Lim-A-Way.

wet one, when you live in the south and don’t get much snow, they don’t plow a lot other than the interstates. Therefore, the combo of precipitation on the road and unskilled drivers make a mess and a lot of folks opt out, but not before hitting Kroger for French toast makin’s.

Speaking of snow, we had a dusting this morning. I left about 10 minutes earlier than usual (I’m 7 miles from irk) and arrived 22 minutes late. The bottleneck at the freeway meant that the last 1.5 miles took 25 minutes. My colleague is out because school is out and he’s a single dad of an 8 year old and has custody of his 6 year old grandkid and couldn’t get to the backup childcare. He emailed me a while ago and mentioned that they were making cookies. :stuck_out_tongue:

Y’all stay warm!

I finally got a job after six months of looking! Ok well maybe three months of half assing it and three months of looking lol But yay!! I go to orientation Tuesday. It pays almost the same as my last job is a 15 minute commute (opposed to an hour) and best of all it’s not customer service!!!

Yay for new job!!! And short commute - I do envy that. My drive is about twice as long, and it’s usually worse going home thanks to school buses.

I made a batch of chewy chawklit chip cookies sans pee-kahns mainly because I forgot to take pee-kahns out of da freezer and had already made up the dough before I remembered and then didn’t want to chop up pee-kahns. Also, I talked OYKW outta GC tonight. Just don’t want to go out. I went to the burly butcher sto’ and got some fresh ground beast. Burgers and fries will be dindin.

TP yay on the new gig and short commute!

TP (did we really do that to her) yay for new job!

I am having a slight, very small, teensy, weeny freak out on having realized I have to go to CA tomorrow. I have 3 doctor appointments on Monday. I still haven’t found a good neurologist here. :smack: I don’t leave until after 4 pm, and it’s a quick trip, but it still caught me off guard.

Other than that, I am sitting here with the lingering remains of my “clu” or “fold” (it never decided which type of virus it wanted to be). Sniffles are gone. Down to sore throat and tiredness.

metal mouse I’m guessing your stains are hard water related. You can use a pumice stone, but you’re scratching your porcelain when you do it. Try some of these suggestions instead: cite. The article looked pretty good.

FCM, Sunny, Red, thanks for the tips, I’ll try them out and see how it goes. And yes, we have harder than average water here.

bigkitty, I’m still looking for a roomie…here’s the bus trip: http://www.scandinaviantravel.com/tour/viking-capitals/

Day has been moving way faster than it should be. Indoor soccer starts tomorrow, I referee Saturday and coach Sunday, weather permitting. Still no sign of snow in the area, but we shall see.

A small accumulation of snow here, enough to close the schools and have me email work that I was taking a vacation day, only to be messaged later that state offices were closed, and we weren’t going in. The city’s snow equipment consists of two guys with shovels in a pickup full of sand.

The mail ran, however, and brought new cordless headphones. Mrs. Plant can watch TV when I am sleeping, and I can listen to Wagner!

I was somewhat disappointed in the NY Met DVD of the Ring in true costume. Opera singers do not resemble Nordic warriors or water nymphs. Little fat guys in chain mail don’t cut it. Strangely enough, their Brunhilde was rather small, and would have made a good Rhine maiden.

An early dindin of burgers and fries has been ingested. ‘Tis rainy and ick out. We’re both glad to be in da cave for the evenin’. Plus, chawklit chip cookies and ice cream for later. Could it get any better.

Sunny with a name like AngelSoft how could the nickname be anything but TP.

I got a surprise gift (toaster oven) today, shipped from amazon.
I thought it was a mistake until Sah-son found the gift slip.
It’s the same toaster oven I bought for myself when I moved in here.
I don’t know if I should tell the sender I already have one, or just say thank you and re-gift it.
Or I could just have two toaster ovens.

Howdy all. Somehow I got logged out of the Dope on my computer at irk. It is my personal laptop, not the official government intranet computer as I would not use it for personal stuff. Anyway, took me all day to sort that out.

I am still as irk. I woke up with the sick. Almost every time I fly I get the crud. Has been a very long day. There is only one clerk up front so I actually had to interact with people today. I am rusty but still sold some tickets.

We are expected to get down to 58F:eek:. I know it is nothing like the rest of youse are expecting but from a high of 85 it is a shock to the system. I plan to pile up in the bed all weekend. I will probably wind up at the Dr. on Moanday. I know I have bronchitis now.

Hubby went and bought me a new battery first thing this morning so hopefully I am good for a few years on that front.

Happy weekend all and stay warm. :o
