Wooohoooo!! Put that stupid groundhog on the grill!!

God I love this place!! Had to go to Pensacola and run some errands. Actually had to turn on the air conditioner 'cause it was getting a mite warm in the car. Almost wanted to put the top down on the Mustang.

Someone told me that stupid groundhog in Pennsylvania saw his shadow. Yesterday I should’ve thrown that rotten, winter-loving rodent on the grill with my porterhouse steaks— winter is officially dead on the Florida Gulf Coast! Next stop is dusting off the old volleyball and the boogie board.

To my fellow Northern Dopers, I’m not trying to make you feel bad with the snow and bad weather. This was not my intentions and it really isn’t in my true and understanding nature to…OH WHAT THE HELL, I CAN’T RESIST THIS…

**WINTER SUCKS, SNOW SUCKS, ICE SUCKS, GROUNDHOG DAY BITES!! I’M GOING TO HIT THE BEACH TOMORROW!!! LIVING IN FLORIDA MEANS NEVER HAVING TO SAY “CAN I BORROW YOUR SNOWBLOWER, ED??” WOOOHOOOOOOOO!!! **

…sorry 'bout that

Oh, that’s fine, Bluepony. We northern, icebound Dopers understand. Really. We share your joy.

We will not, however, share your stifling, wet-flannel-rash humidity, mildew incubating, sweltering, gasping, sweating, stifling misery during high summer.

Besides, we appreciate sun, grass greening and first flowers so much more for being strong, stalwart snow critters.

Harrumph.

WOW I love winter! I love the snowmen, skating, sleigh rides in the snow, sliding, snow angels, skiing, and having snow for Christmas!

I also love the change of seasons; the glorious fall colours, the cool nip in the air, the first snowfall, and then spring; the crocus peeping from under the snow, the buds on the trees, the fresh smell of the ground thawing…
Us northerners do not have it as rough as you do with the " same shit different day " weather. Did you know the seasons were different?

OH! and for your information… we don’t borrow snowblowers.

darn right - every real man has a honking big 35 hp blower from Canadian Tire, just daring a flake to fall on his sidewalk.

and the stars o’erhead were dancing heel to toe

and as soon as the flakes start to fall… they get their snowblowing clothes on ready to go!!!

or is that just MY husband?

I sort of miss winter; we haven’t had winter in Houston for about four years now. The last snow I remember here was in 1982. I haven’t been outside yet today, but yesterday was ~75º with a gentle breeze. Sounds great, but I’d rather have that six months from now (when it’s going to be about 30º hotter).

Ummm, correction, but during high summer Florida isn’t that bad. Really. You see, we’ve got water all around us, it keeps us nice and relatively (compared to most other places) cool. Not only that, but it provides us with a nice steady breeze of fresh air from the ocean. I’d much prefer that, even with the humidity, as opposed to the blistering, stagnant heat to be found just about everywhere else in the U.S. except for the nice fresh mountain air.

Then again, I’m just a puss when it comes to the cold. I will confess that I was wearing long-johns under my jeans a few days ago in the 65 degree weather. Now, you may all proceed to giggle and mock me and my South Floridian ways.

Bluepony, you really are one of my favorite posters. You are bright, articulate, and you make me laugh so hard I can’t breathe.

But I sincerely hope you break a tooth biting my frozen butt.

Changing my sig, because Wally said to, and I really like Wally, and I’ll do anything he says, anytime he says to.

I went to Disney in mid-January. The temp was in the 80’s when we got there on Monday. By Friday, it had dropped to the low 60’s with winds in the 30mph area. You could tell who the northerners were, we were walking around in shorts and t-shirts. The locals had on winter jackets, hats, and gloves. I thought it was hilarious, but that’s only because I’m mean like that.
