I keep popping on to look for you all, but no one seems to be on when I am. I generally play on weekends (all day Sat & Sun right now since I’m in the throes of the addiction) and evenings from around 6-10 p.m. However, the SDMB Horde character is not my primary character, so I’m generally playing a different character on a different server, only popping in now and again on Thunderhorn to see if anyone else is there.
Tamba, I understand that you’re mostly on late nights/early mornings, when I’m not. However, Mr. available light, also known as Sturmhauke, has my password, so if he is online when you are I have asked him to log in as Ragesong and have her go sign the guild charter.
Meanwhile, if folks could send my character Ragesong any herbs they happen to get as drops, I can get to work practicing my potion skills! Thanks in advance.
Heh it’s odd that I find people calling me Darkhold or Dark to be perfectly normal but people calling me Tamba creeps me out. I guess it’s what you’re used to eh? Anyway I’ll do my best to find everyone however with all these conflicting schedules and people only using secondary characters on the Thunderhorn server I think it’s going to be a long time before we get fully up and running. However considering that now I consider my warrior to be my primary and I have no compelling reason to change servers I’m willing to put in the time to get this thing together even if it takes awhile. I might shift characters to try different play styles but I’ll always log into the SDMB channel so I can go get ‘Tamba’ to sign people up if I see them.
As for sending you herbs I’m not really sure what you need. I don’t really remember many herb drops but I’ll go through the recipes online and make sure I don’t sell anything you can use.
I need the leatherworker to send me some light and medium leathers. I’m not sure how hard it is to get them but I’d like about 10 of each if it’s not too much trouble. It seems nearly any weapon recipe needs leather.
If anyone wants sharpening stones (+2 or +3 to weapons depending on what type I have) I’ll make some for the guild. Either ‘mail’ me ingame or post here. If you post here make sure to remind me of your name in game so I don’t make a mistake.
Speaking of I feel I haven’t really given much back to the guild. At least Malevond made some bags and Rogrim made armor boosts so I want to go on a weapon making kick when I get the leather. Please send me letters telling me your level and your weapon type (Mace, axe…one or two hand, sword, dagger etc.) and I’ll do my best to make it ASAP.
Darkhold, after I made my last post I realized that I had accidentally called you by your WoW char name instead of your SDMB name. :smack: Apologies, and I’ll try to keep that straight!
I also realize that I should have specified that the times I posted are pacific time zone.
Since we already have an herbalist/alchemist should I take different professions? I have just learned them with my character so it would be no penalty to undo them and take others. But we seem to have all the bases covered, so maybe anything I do would be duplicative of someone else anyway. (I have no interest in engineering, which seems to be the only skill set we don’t have yet.) Anyway, if anyone has strong feelings and thinks we need, for example, a second tailor more than a second alchemist, let me know and I can change.
Light leather is easy to get, but I’m not finding medium leather on a regular basis yet. Right now I have to make 1 medum out of 4 lights. I can fill Tamba’s order, but I’m going to put off making everyone medium armor kits until I can skin more medium leather directly from beasts.
I have 4 medium armor kits, if someone needs them more than I do I can send them along. It’s not like I can survive melee combat that well anyway, being a mage and all.
Darkhold, I got your email a couple days back about this guild. Sorry I didn’t get back to you, but I’ve been having too much fun playing my main character on Hyjal. Probably be a while before I’m interested in starting a new character for a Doper guild, but when I do, I’ll look y’all up.
I found a malachite. Is that something that someone can use? If so, let me know and I’ll mail it to you. Also, is this the best way to send these type of messages? If so, I’ll keep posting here, but if there’s some in-game way to message everyone, or some other way people want to communicate, I’ll use that instead.
I’m now level 7 (almost level 8) and the problem I’m having is that it’s darn hard to solo as a priest, and there just aren’t that many other (non-jerkwad) people around to do pickup groups with. I’m hoping that sometime soon we can all get together and work on quests together. If we’re too disparate in level, or have too different of schedules, that won’t work though. Well, I can always just get Sturmhauke to help me. He already does that with my primary character.
Dibbler, thanks for the light armor kits! Any (low level) potion needs I can fill for anyone?
Malachite is used in several different tradeskills…engineering and blacksmithing for sure, I think there might have been a recipe or two for tailoring back in beta that might, but I’m not positive.
I haven’t gotten around to making a char on Thunderhorn yet, have 5 different chars between Elune and Uther with my guild atm. =( I’m sure I’ll get the urge to make another alt soon, I’ll make my next one on Thunderhorn. =)
I’ve been anxious to purchase WoW Collector’s Edition (my early Christmas present to myself), but Amazon has been frustratingly out of stock. Until today. I just finished ordering the game, so I should be playing by this weekend.
(Hopefully lag with dial-up won’t be too bad at the ungodly hours I tend to keep. Otherwise I’ll have to wait a bit until I get broadband.)
The Collector’s Edition comes with a 10-day Free Guest Pass. If there’s a Doper out there who is thinking of trying the game, but unsure if they’ll like it, I can give them the pass.
And for the record, Burning Dog Legion is far better than any of my suggested names.
Alas, I cannot make potions of minor agility yet. Norolis (Rexnervous’s character)is a better alchemist than I, so maybe she can help you out. If not, I’ll keep an eye out for that recipe. I’ve noticed several people wanting to buy them on the trade channels.
RAM upgrade went great, loaded WoW (after finding out I had to turn off my McAfee and reboot - no biggy), installed the newest DirectX, and wa-la! IT STILL WON"T RUN!!! Yep, just as I feared, that video card is too wimpy for this game, too.
So, I’m still WoW-less at the Factfortress. Gonna work on getting a better video rig.

It’s very encouraging to me to see how positive and helpful all the straight dopers that have shown up have been so let’s try for something a little bigger now.
How does everyone feel about getting together for a guild attack on the ragefire quest this weekend? For those that haven’t gotten that far ragefire is an elite quest in Orgimmar. There’s four quests in there though I only have three (the other ones seem to originate with the Taureen) and one of those you’ll have to get on your own through doing the burning blade quests until you get the lieutenant’s insignia. I can share the other two I have.
My tentative plan is for Saturday night 11pm central time. I can do an hour earlier if people need that…two at the most though I’ll be a pretty grouchy and tired guy if I have to get up that early.

I’d like to extend a thank you to all that have signed so far. All have shown a positive attitude and friendliness. I’d say more but I hate people that sound like cheerleaders so just know your contributions and enthusiasm is appreciated.
I would have to wait until about 11:30 central. For some odd reason my latency shoots into the stratosphere at 11:00 pm (10:00 in my time zone) every day, and stays that way for 10 to 20 minutes. This means I can’t play at that time.
I have a quest from Undercity to retreive a book or something in Ragefire, I can share that if anyone needs it. Malevond is only level 11 though, despite his enchanting and tailoring prowess. Speaking of which, I can make wool bags now, but wool is a bit scarce.
Let’s see…11 p.m. central would be 9 p.m. pacific? I can do that time, but my priest is only level 7 or 8. I would need someone to help me today with some of my lower level quests so that I can gain a few levels (and hopefully actually have some of the quests at this Ragefire place). Otherwise, I’ll just be dying over and over, and that’s no fun at all. So I’ll work on leveling up some today, and if anyone’s on WoW today and can help me level up, I’d be glad for the help. Soloing as a priest is kinda brutal.
Also, I’ve created a couple of new characters on the server, just to play around. I’m not totally sure which of my characters will end up being played most, or if I’ll even keep them all. But as of now, I have Ragesong, the troll priest(ess), Darksong, an undead Warlock, and (in a shocking break from my “song” naming theme) Peacebloom, a tauren hunter.
Sturmhauke and I have a friend (okay, he’s mostly Sturmhauke’s work buddy) who just started a Tauren character named Minosis on Thunderhorn. He’s pretty cool, so if y’all want, we can invite him to join the guild. Not sure if Sturmhauke has told him about the guild yet, so don’t run up to him online and ask him to join just yet; he prob’ly won’t know who you are. But if we do want to open up the guild to non-dopers, we’ll tell him about the guild & see if he’s interested.
Well the ragefire raid went very well I think. It was nice working with each other and getting things done I feel the guild is getting into the swing of things. Today I’m getting the last sig so it’s time to think about the design for the talbard.
