I’ll double andros’ bet. $100 from me as well if The Donald is the GOP candidate in November 2016.
Nope.
But there is historical precedence for his appearance. It’s the first time since the mid-1800s that someone from the ‘Wig’ party got into the fray.

Whereas I am universally beloved.
I wouldn’t even begin to consider putting a bet down on Trump at this point. The election is fifteen months off and who knows what will transpire in the meantime. Trump hasn’t given any specifics yet as to how he expects to govern, and once he does he’s sure to start coming in for more flak. Plus the media is a huge question mark. So far they don’t know which Democrat to start promoting and they haven’t been taking Trump all that seriously. Once they do, I expect them to go all out to dig up, distort and/or lie about anything and everything they can to throw at him because he’s about as anti-PC as they come and the media simply can’t have that. I expect them to make their twenty-year effort to get Nixon look like child’s play. So although Trump’s support so far is both surprising and encouraging, there’s still a lot that can happen over the next fifteen months and I’m not about to start tossing dough around in an effort to predict the future.
That still piss you off, does it?
Mexicans coming across the border are drug dealers and rapists. Yeah, nothing racist there.
“You know that ISIS wants to go in and take over the Vatican? You have heard that. You know, that’s a dream of theirs, to go into Italy,” Trump said.
ISIS invades Italy, film at 11.
Wait…are you saying Nixon was set up? ![]()
The idea that you can’t talk about problems coming from any group but white males without being accused of some kind of “ism” is exactly why Trump is doing so well. In a rational world you don’t get a pass on crime or illegal or destructive behavior or terrorism simply because you aren’t a white male and people are getting fed up with the kind of politics that demands you do.
Anyone who truly believes nonwhite people should “get a pass on crime or illegal or destructive behavior or terrorism” is *almost *as partisan pig-ignorant as someone who truly believes there is a “kind of politics” telling them to do so.
Almost.
.
You’re right about one thing, the reason Trump is doing well. A whole lot of people would rather bitch defensively about a nonsensical, wildly exaggerated war on white guys than use a brain cell or two and think rationally about the issues.
However, as a reasonably intelligent (I hope) doper, you can’t seriously tell us you don’t know the difference between singling out a non-white male for his own behavior and lumping everyone coming here from an entire nation. That’s clearly racist, among other things.
Nonsensical, or wildly exaggerated…which is it? It can’t be both. Either it’s nonsensical and therefore nonexistent, or it’s wildly exaggerated, which means it exists in point of fact but you think more is made of it than necessary.
But apart from that, no, it isn’t so much that there’s a war on white males as it is that white males are the only group who can safely be criticized, either as a group or individually, without it being met immediately with cries of racism, sexism or whatever. (Well, white males and Christianity, that is. When’s the last time someone tested a Muslim bakery or restaurant to see whether they’d serve a homosexual couple or made fun of their ‘invisible friend in the sky’?)
No, it isn’t. Certain types of behavior are known to occur more often among certain groups than others.
However in this case, where I assume you’re talking about Trump’s accusations regarding illegal immigrants being rapists and criminals, I agree that individuals should be singled out for criminal acts rather than presupposing most immigrants are rapists and criminals. But when it comes to illegal immigration itself, clearly the group as a whole is at fault. And yet I’ve never once heard or read of anyone voicing an objection to illegal immigration without their immediately and forcefully being accused of racism and hatred. It’s as if to the liberal mind there’s simply no legitimacy to respect for the law or concern over the economic and social burden imposed by unfettered illegal immigration and the only reason to object to it is right-wing bigotry.
But believe it or not, there are many people in this country who have no axe to grind whatsoever with Hispanic people. I, myself, have many Hispanic friends and without exception they’re hard working, nice, friendly, good people. As far as I know they’re all here legally, and they’re all pissed off that they had to wait for a long period of time and spend a considerable amount of money to come here when so many other have been allowed to simply cross over illegally and then have the government kowtow to them with drivers’ licenses, food stamps and welfare.
The problem lies in the fact that countries limit and oversee immigration for a number of legitimate reasons, and many people (mostly conservatives, it seems) recognize and appreciate the need for such oversight. There are also a lot of people in this country who simply believe that everyone should follow the law. It pisses them off when people are allowed to flaunt the law with impunity, and it pisses them off even more when they get called bigots and racists for objecting to it.
It’s that kind of PC bullshit that Trump is tapping into. People are fed up with getting called racist when all they want is for people to obey the law. They’re fed up with an administration that allows criminals to re-enter the country time and again, and with ‘sanctuary cities’ that protect them from due process of the law. They’re fed up with being called sexist and waging a ‘war on women’ because they don’t believe their tax dollars should pay for birth control. People are fed up with an educational system that graduates people from high school who can’t read or write, while happily furnishing birth control to adolescents without having to get parental consent. Etc., etc., etc.
And more than anything else, people are fed up with the fact that no one has been standing up to all this bullshit and doing anything to put a stop to it. In my opinion this is why Trump continues to climb in the polls despite saying things that would be damaging if anyone else had said them. They see Trump as the only anti-PC social warrior in politics and pretty much their only hope to start putting a stop to all this nonsense, so they overlook and forgive his missteps in favor of the much greater need to start undoing all this nonsense and start “making America great again”.
Maybe it says more about you, maybe it says more about the boards, but either way, it doesn’t say much for the spineless assholes who are willing you let you be the punching bag on the board for their views, does it? Considering the premium you’re putting on “growing a pair” in this thread, I’d think you might want to tell your anonymous supporters to sack up and get in the game.
You mean like the time Trump got sued by the DoJ for not renting to blacks. Those laws?
Is it only blacks and [del]Mexican’s[/del] South American’s he has problems with?
Or …
*" O’Donnell wrote that Trump once said, in reference to a black accountant at Trump Plaza, “laziness is a trait in blacks.” He also told O’Donnell: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day."
Trump called O’Donnell a disgruntled employee but he didn’t deny allegations made in the book during an interview with Playboy magazine in 1999:

When the press gears up and lets loose on this egomaniac, he’ll be walking like a guy who just had a vasectomy with garden sheers.
I’m sick of this PC bullshit.
“In a real world sense.” That’s a terrible euphemism. Just say what you really mean: “to racist people.”
Hell no!
That would be no and OMG, NO!
Well, since some of us don’t think anything you say is even worthy of anything other than an ad hominem, I’ve been meaning to ask: how’s your marriage, bro? I assume it’s been incredibly devalued since the SCOTUS ruling, but I would love to hear the concrete ways it doesn’t mean as much anymore.
Actually, he’s cranky because the jackbooted ObamaThugs[sup]TM[/sup] already knocked down his door and forced him to divorce. His Mandatory Gay ObamaMarriage[sup]TM[/sup] is scheduled for next Tuesday.
Remember kids: Tuesday is the gayest day of the week.
What’s your secret? I keep getting one stuck on my tongue now and then.
