It’s been long enough that my name probably isn’t familiar to anyone anymore, but it’s good to be back (even though the board is calling me a “guest” - not that I care).
Just to recap, as others have in this thread:
I was a long-time member in the days before pay-to-post and have intermittently lurked since then. I’m a professional copy editor, early forties, living in Dallas. Married almost 17 years, two kids (age 14 and 5).
Since the old days, I left editing, went back to school to get a teaching certificate, tried to find a job as an elementary-school teacher, failed. (Here in Texas, you have to either have experience, speak Spanish, or be willing to work in a dangerous area, and I was 0 for 3.) I eventually realized that it was time to hang it up and go back to editing, which I did last December.
I’m also the creator of a moderately popular webcomic called Scandal Sheet! that’s now in its sixth year. After a series of gaps in the update schedule (including a three-month hiatus this spring), I started updating again at the beginning of June and haven’t been late with an update since. Check it out.
I look forward to wasting more time here in the days to come!

Good to be back. There were several times when I thought I bet Dopers would know, but I didn’t want to waste my 15 days until I had a really important question.
I remember you. I think you were the one who reassured me I could save the egg whites for the next day without poisoning my family (some dinner where I needed the yolks one day and the whites the next… or vice versa).
