Wrapping up January in the MMP

I took a nap and now I feel worse.

The cat asked to go outside earlier, I think it was 5 seconds before he asked to come back in. Ripple went out, turned around, and came back in.

BRRRRRRR!!! WetOne

How you doin’?

Thbhthbhtbthbthtbtbtbhtthbhthh!
Mostly wet last night, but I did go skidding thru one intersection…on foot. Mostly ran in the street thru a residential neighborhood since that’s safer footing than the sidewalk, which isn’t entirely flat/smooth due to things like age & tree roots. Running at night, in the dark that becomes a tripping hazard. Of course the streets were salted which ensured they were not frozen. Was on the sidewalk on Main St, the last step before the curb cut to go back into the side street &…Weeeee! NOT!
Once back at our [del]clubhouse[/del] brewpub I ended up sitting next to the new guy. He recently moved from the [del]wrong[/del] other side of the state. He works in IT for a bunch of large wimen from the Brazilian rain forest, & get this: He’s a numismatist. Yup, he knows George Washington is on the quarter (:D) & he also knows something about Russian coins!!! What are the chances of that?

I have forgotten your location.

IT IS 18 BELOW ZERO WITHOUT THE WIND CHILL. IT WAS -26 WITHOUT THE WIND CHILL WHEN I WOKE UP.

Yes, I know I was complaining just a few weeks ago about how warm it was in Wisconsin in January. Pretty sure Mother Nature’s drunk and was like, “You want cold? I’ll give ya sumpin cold!” This is an issue of quality vs. quantity… waayyy too much cold.

I’m working from home today since Juliet Jr. doesn’t have school on account of the cold. Romeo is wrangling the kids this morning before he goes in to work. Literally the only people who are required to report to campus in this weather are a few campus security personnel and the cafeteria staff. None of the other eateries are open, not even the grounds crew are there. But they’re shortening his hours so they don’t have to pay as much double time.

If/when schools are cancelled tomorrow, Juliet Jr. is going to have to go to my sister-in-law’s house. She’s on maternity leave and offered to wrangle my kiddo tomorrow. Romeo Jr. will have to go to day care. I have to be at the office tomorrow… too many important meetings.

But it has been nice working from home today… putting The Price Is Right on in the background has been a nice change of pace.

Chicago suburbs

Some people get ALL the good weather while the rest of us have to suffer being above zero. But with luck tonight we may join you.
PS – Spidey got to spend time with one of my almost-former-coworkers IRL and he may never be the same. Which one you may ask; Spidey or the other guy?

Yes.

100%. Like I told you at the gun club, you can’t go anywhere in this country (or several others probably) without finding at least one person who knows me. Kevin Bacon may need 6 levels; I could get away with maybe two at most.

I’ve read news stories about homeless people in Chicago suffering in the cold.

The lawnmower has been transported to the lawn mower shop, may be a couple of weeks or so, but I don’t think I’ll be needing it for awhile (even if the temperature now is a balmy 36F). Used a Subway gift card from XMAS to take care of lunch and am now cocooned inside.

Wet One, Juliet, take care of yourselves and family.

Spidey, since you identify as a man (as far as we know), I do not find you creepy at all (sorry if you are disappointed, you are a bit odd if that helps).

Take care.

Ripple got out of the neighbor’s gate again, the next neighbor up came down to tell me he was hanging out on her porch.
My son went over and tied her gate shut.
He didn’t want to do it without asking first. I said no just do it. It’s too cold to keep walking around the house to check it. The latch is loose and the wind will blow it open.
I can’t get ahold of the neighbor, she is never home, and I think she never turns her cell phone on.
I still haven’t had a chance to talk to her about the wall upstairs.
I think I’ll stick a note through her mail slot.

Not getting much done today.
I should be ashamed of myself for being so lazy.

Howdy Y’all! I have been a slug most of today. I did, however, go over to the church house to put out the biiiiiig trash can. We have three but today I got by with puttin’ everything on one can. This comin’ up Sunday is brunch Sunday so that won’t be the case next week I’ll bet. 'Tis cold and cloudy out.

{{{Sunny}}} hope things are goin’ well with your treatment.

Juliet etal dealin’ with the extreme cold. Stay warm and take care. ICK!

its a sweltering dark & gloomy 58 here might get up to 65 :D…the great flood of feb '19 is predicted  but its doubtful

might go or might not go to the gym …nephew is home sick today ……new official school policy is if ya barf and or get a fever no school for you until you get better and not need meds …
other than that not much going on today ……

It is 36 F now, the low will be 24 and tomorrow’s high 52. 71 on Monday.

no gym today ….might ride the bike thing we have for a bit other than that not much goin on

So you’ll have an extra heater going after dinner?
…& now for this important-but-sad announcement: Doggio, report to the fainting couch. Doggio, report to the fainting couch, immediately!  :frowning:

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
: collapses :

wow it cleared up about an hour and its now 70 degrees……… so much for the rain …

Glad you’re feeling a little better swampy!

wet one, Sis up in the northwest Chicago suburbs posted her current weather today. I’m glad I had sense enough to move south. :stuck_out_tongue:

When I started for irk this morning, there were about three flakes of snow. By the time I drove the seven miles, it was blowing across the road. Coming out, it was merely bitter cold.

I thought my wifi was out when I got home. When I tried the desktop, nothing happened. The router was on, so I began playing around. The mouse had no light, so I plugged it back in (it’s in an awkward spot to get to the back of my tower). Whilst down there, the monitor came unplugged. Oy! Once I got everything plugged back up, I discovered that my settings had changed, so I reset the size of the font so’s I could read it. Were it not for the periphels that work better with a desktop, I would just make the switch to laptop or tablet only.

Having met him in real life I can verify that.

He is male and a little odd.
The temp, according to the car, was -2 so I got scheduled for the one outside job we have at this location of Da Jungle. Didn’t mind really ----------- like 2000 years of genetic engineering went into creating me so I may as well play it when I can.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. It’s 19 degrees.
