gt, Driving Husband does Systema, the Russian Special Forces Style. There is much punching. Mr. Lissar and Driving Husband practice ‘neat’ things on each other. His instructor’s name is Vlad, and his little sister (five foot one and 110lbs) takes it, too, and broke a guy’s knee last week.
Of course, it doesn’t beat the fact that we have a recording of Mr. Lissar’s cracking someone’s ribs at the grading last year.
You know what I just got from the Free Stuff pile at work? (Advance reader’s copies, uncorrected proofs and stuff) A first edition, hardcover, signed copy of Gilead. I am all sorts of teh win!
It’s cold here, finally. I am wearing my Oscar Mayer pajama pants. They have Weinermobiles all over them. Sadly, my t-shirt is plain white.
The job interview went well–thanks for the well-wishes–but get this. At the time the lady called me, they thought they’d have funding for the position, but when she and the big boss interviewed me, they weren’t sure if they’d get the funding after all. Bottom line, if there turns out to be a job, I’ll get it. As you can imagine, my feelings are mixed.
Am I the only one who is actually kind of insulted, rather than flattered, when obviously married people flirt with me?
Yes, I made all of them, and I do custom work. I am in the process of making about a dozen pairs of “snake” earrings after people have seen me wearing mine at games.
Magic escaped the cat suite again. That cat is either going to make me lose weight chasing him, or have a heart attack chasing him.
SCL, those are really pretty. I see a couple of pieces I need to think about. I have more jewelry than I can ever wear, but you can always have more, right?
Happy Birthday, Mika!
I did it. I finally resigned from the board of my professional organization. I feel very relieved, so it was definitely the right thing to do.
It’s another chilly night, so I had chai and oatmeal for dinner. It’s cold but clear, I’m almost tempted to go back out for a short walk in the moonlight.
end of another day with no call from the guy. of course it’s possible that friend hasn’t spoken to her brother since tuesday. I’m disappointed. oh well. And I was kind of looking forward to maybe even having a date for New Years
Morning! Another exciting day at work. We have a super sized truck coming in, and company coming. I hate my job somedays. At least there is coffee, beer, hockey, and the MMP to get me through the day.
rosie, sorry to hear about the lack of phone call, but it’s not the weekend yet and you could still be in for a surprise!
The band last night were excellent, and the venue wasn’t too crowded either…both good points! They played for nearly two hours and managed to get almost all our favourite songs in there. Turns out Paul Weller was playing upstairs at the Civic Hall (we were downstairs in the Wulfrun Hall, much nicer down there) so it was pretty busy when we all left the venues.
On the way home we stopped off at the Posada for a couple of pints of Spitfire…well, it would be rude not to!
So now I just have to pack for the weekend, get 'im indoors out of bed and get to the station in time for the 11am train to London.
Rigs - you seem to be confused between cattery and cat-house! As for having “been around”, I’m relatively well-travelled, thank you very much. I don’t know, the cheek of some people…
MamaTigs - yay for PapaTigs’ job, sounds like there will be celebrations in the TigsHouse.
Ophie will be pedalling all weekend for those that need vibes…and I’ll see you all on Tuesday. Have fun weekends!
Tigs yay for PapaTigs new job! Time to start making a list of all the gifts he should lavish upon you.
BooFae have a great trip. Eat lots of chocolate. And waffles. And french fries.
Snakes yay on the jewelry selling! I predict snake earrings will be the next fashion craze and you’ll be a bazillionaire.
Right now it’s 63 Amurrkin outside and predicted to stay that temp all day. It looks like a rainy, icky day.
Tonight I am making jambalaya. Four other friends are coming over to help us eat it all up. There will be cheesecake for dessert. I am proud to state that said cheesecake has remained intact. I show amazing restraint.
Drive-by before leaving for work. I spent about two hours last night 'til about 1:30am reconstructing my iPod’s contents and playlists. It’s a damn good thing I’m not one of those obsessive playlist crafters who meticulously pieces together playlists of agonizingly exquisite perfection. I have four playists and they’re all pretty easy to create. Stupid me of course, I created them on the iPod instead of the local library like I should have, which would have made the whole ordeal much more palatable. sigh Oh well. It’s done. And it’s Friday. I can drag my ass through a friday on reduced sleep.
I went out at about 4 this morning, and did my ‘checking the country roads’ bit, and it was just kind of icky, not awful. Called the boss, he was out too, then it started to get worse as we watched. Roads that were barely passable at 4 were invisible at 5.
MBG, young man, just because you don’t have school today does not mean you can play those video games all day. I expect you to clean your room and vacuum the downstairs. And don’t give me that look!
Rigs a snow day is the perfect time to finish up that paper young lady. No excuses. Don’t you roll those eyes at me!
::: pouts like a little kid :::
Warm and rainy here. But it’s supposed to get cold by tomorrow. The 7-day forecast had snowflakes next week on Thursday. Probably just flurries but - Yay!
rainy here, too, but not that warm. And MBG’s blizzard, by the time it gets here, will be only wind and rain (kinda like the mess I drove up to Boston in last month) Which is fine with me. I’m all for a mild winter if it means the parking lot at work does not become a skating rink
This is my second post complaining that it’s 63 degrees in Boston. In December? Dear God I was begging my landlord to put on the heat a week ago now I have every window in my room open. Oh well, nighty night all.
I’ve been spending a lot of time at the hardware store lately with all the work we’re doing at the house. And I think I’ve been getting scammed there.
Here’s how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 18 or 19-year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping items into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their huge breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say “No” and instead ask you for a ride to another Home Depot. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start having sex with each other. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and performs oral sex on you, while the other one steals your wallet.
I had my wallet stolen November 4th , 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, three times just yesterday, and very likely again tonight because I need to go and get some paint and screws for the shutters.
Wow. Yuck. That’s some spectacularly disgusting weather out there. It’s cold (~3-5C), it’s unreasonably windy, and it’s pissing down rain at an angle designed specifically to soak either my pants, my head and torso, or portions of both, depending on how I hold my umbrella. I walked into work looking like I had a horrible accident in the men’s room.
Once in, my supervisor and his supervisor were discussing the various ways we can tweak the heating system in here. We have a bit of an odd design in these offices. The front of the building gets good airflow because it’s designed … well, like you’d expect offices to be designed with properly placed vents and returns. My office and my supervisor’s office, which adjoin just behind the offices proper, aren’t quite so normal. My supervisor’s office has two vents and two returns, one set by his desk and another by the door that adjoins his office to mine. My office has neither because the wall that separates my office from his is a load-bearing fire wall which they can’t route vents through. Now, my office has a door that also adjoins the front end of the warehouse perpendicular to the door that adjoins my supervisor’s, but the logistics there make it impossible to route some extended set of vents into my office through that back route because of the height of the warehouse ceiling. To mitigate that, I have my own baseboard heater, which works quite nicely but doesn’t help in the summer, for which I have a fan. Ironically, my office has better heating. because the two vents and two returns were a bit excessive in my supervisor’s office – he could probably get more of the heat if he blocks off the return furthest from him to force the closer return to suck the warm air in.
So, my office is nice and cozy despite having no central heating in it. This small comfort however is offset by the fact that my supervisor has the window.
I can’t bloody wait for the end of the day. I’ve been short on sleep yet again this week and I am very much looking forward to just relaxing at home tonight and sleeping 'til the crack of noon tomorrow.
Congrats, papa tigs!! Happy belated birfday to meeks, even if she HAS been snubbing us lately. Enjoy the snow day, mbg. No chance of that happening here. We’re due for seriously above normal weather today. 84 degrees Murkin.
If everything goes smoothly, Grampy will be taking up residence in a nursing facility that is basically on the same property as the independent living facility. There will need to be some finagling but we are hopefull. I really appreciate all the pedaling Ophelia is doing and everyone’s good wishes. Today is his 91st birthday.
It is spectacularly awful weather today. Don’t look at me, Mindfield- I asked the Weather Gods for snow.
Yawn. I kept turning over and going back to sleep, waiting for it to get light. I hauled myself out of bed at nine, when I realised that light isn’t happening today.
Do I really need to grocery shop? I want to make stew, but I’m not feeling enthusiastic because that means leaving the house.
