Yet another commercials we love thread.

Any and all commercials for Jack In The Box. My current favorite is the one with the hats.

My husband loves this commercial. He started walking around saying that he’s the mature cheese, despite having told me the interrupting cow joke just a day or two before we first saw the commercial.

I love the piggy one. Love it! And for some reason, I like the Target back-to-school commercial with the triplet girls who explore their own interests in school. Don’t know why I like it, I just do…

I know these commercials are stupid, but they make me giggle. They’re the Swiffer commercials wherein the housewife’s old mop is cast in the part of an broken-hearted ex-boyfriend trying to reconnect with her. Especially the stupid one where the old mop is waiting in the hot tub for the housewife to join him.

::immature giggling::

Yeah, the FaceTime ones are good. I’ve only seen this one once on TV, but I like it best of all.

People like the FaceTime ones? Wow…I don’t mind the braces and granddad one, but the haircut and pregnancy ones are terrible. The people are acting and talking in the most unnatural way possible. No one talks like that in real life! Now, normally I don’t mind ‘unnatural’ sounding dialogue in commercials, TV, movies, etc… because it’s expected…but the whole point of the FaceTime commercials is that they are, in theory, real life people talking abour real life things. The pregnancy one is the worst.

“You know that thing, that we’ve been working on for a while now?”
“Wha…really?”
insert stupid smiley nod here
“Mmm-hmm!”

Ugh…who would actually say that? “That thing we’ve been working on…” ugh, the way she says it is like a cheese grater to my ears. Here’s how most people would do it:

“Honey, guess what…!”
“What?”
“…I’M PREGNANT!”
"Really?
“YES!”
“Oh my God! That’s amazing! I love you!”

But nope, Apple is convinced people talk in weird suggestive phrases and awkward smug glances and smiles all the time.

He lives vicariously through himself.
He can speak French in Russian.
He once had an awkward moment just to see what it felt like.
He is the Most Interesting Man in the World

I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.

Stay Thirsty My Friends.

Yep. My take was that Apple’s ads had finally jumped the shark… well, their recent ads. I didn’t care for that overwrought 1984 piece they did a few decades back.

But, hey, if someone here loves it, maybe Steve Jobs (or his focus groups) knows more than me.

(BTW, just got a new 27" Quadcore iMac. Damn that’s a lovely display/computer.)

He’s been the life of parties he’s never even been to.
If he punched you in the face you’d have a strong urge to thank him.
Sharks have a week dedicated to him.

Another vote for the Most Interesting man in the World.

He’s the life of parties he’s never attended.
If he were to punch you in the face, you would have to fight off a sudden urge to thank him.
Sharks have a week devoted to him.
He is the Most Interesting Man in the World.

Psst…look right above you…

But I agree, I love those ads. That one is my favorite because of the reference to Shark Week.

And almost all of Old Spice’s ads are gold.

They know enough to change them up right as the premise is almost getting old. First it was Bruce Campbell (Hungry like the wolf…), then it was just random guys doing “manly” things (the one I remember most is the guy who weight-lifts, flies through the air, lands in a tool shed, and comes out with golf clubs, and then takes a bite out of the gold club,) then it was Terry Crews (EXPLOSION!!!), and right now it’s that other guy (Ladies, look to your man, then to me, your man again, now back to me…I’m on a horse.)

Eh, notice our post times are 3 minutes apart. Obviously we were composing our posts at the same time. Wargamer just beat me to the Submit Reply button. It happens.

Also one of my favorite commercials. I watch until the very end when he chucks the box of tissues at the sobbing man’s head.

I must confess, I like the new Capital One commercial with the barbarians in LA. It’s pretty run-of-the-mill until they see the movie extras: “Romans! Get 'em!”

Love that bit. The rest of the commercial is crap, but I watch for that line every time.

I love the piggy ads- we laugh our asses off every time.

Also love the Capital One ads where the barbarians go to the Grand Canyon, especially the part where he tries to give the donkey a ride, on his shoulders.

The commercial for an antacid where the spaghetti whips the woman in the face makes me laugh still, every time.

My favorite line for those ads:

His mother has a tattoo that says: SON.

When I first saw this commercial, I thought it was about some interior redesign project gone wrong…I kept expecting the girl to step back to reveal a hideous piece of furniture, or a bad paint job on the cabinets and walls.

I love the Kia commercials with the hamsters. We have a TiVo at home so we normally FF thru the commercials, but whenever I see that one I make my wife rewind it so I can watch it.

there are several versions, and I prefer the one showing the hamster drumming during a portion of it…

Nandos is a Portuguese chicken fast-food chain that originated in South Africa and has a reputation for “edgy” advertising - here are some of their classics:

Ramadan - my current all-time favourite
Where’s my chips?
Nandos Kosher
Moerse big meal

I like the one-eight-hundred-contacts commercial with the guy who’s all “They can’t have my brand! I have special eyes!” and the woman says, “Look! Look with your special eyes!”

They have the long version on youtube, but it’s not as good. It cracks me up every time I see it on TV.

Speaking of KIA, I love their “How You Like Me Now!” commercial with the stuffed animals taking a road trip to Vegas. If I get bored during the day, I’ll actually look it up on YouTube and it perks me up.
