Yet Another Mundane and Pointless MMP

The Pit sent me to the movies because there is some jerk there who whined about a line in Black Panther that he also happened to misquote. Now one of the first threads in The Pit looks like it escaped Cafe Society because it wanted to have some adult vocabulary.

I made several discoveries:

  1. I actually could understand most of what was said. Go, my French! On the other hand it took me three tries and a close look at the till until I could find out how much to pay for my ice cream :stuck_out_tongue: Oh well. Yeah, people who work as voice actors speak more clearly than concession stand cashiers, who would’a thunk it.
  2. I’m too used to being able to check imdb to see if that guy is who I think it is.
  3. Movies in Belgium still have intermissions. We were in Korea and all of a sudden the lights come on so we could go pee. OK…

Nut sorry about the bees. Does cold kill them?

It’s been snowing here since, well I don’t know since when, since light anyway. Tiny, itty-bitty little flakes. It’s not accumulating fast. We’re supposed to get a couple of inches by tomorrow, or not.

Last night, one of the corollary’s to Murphy’s Law kicked in, and a battery died in a smoke detector at 2 am. They are wired to the house power, so you would think they could be polite about the matter, but NOOOoooo. Beeping and wailing until the dogs were upset, the cats were hiding, and the kids were awake and watching me standing on a step-stool, trying to figure out which one it was. As a handy perk, to make sure that we don’t let this sort of thing slide, they all do it, not just the broken one. I think we all got back to sleep sometime around 4, by the time the adrenaline wore off.

Heck of a migraine today, so I might not adult, although I do need to adult. Adulting is hard.

Mooommm I betcha you’ll end up at the movies. :stuck_out_tongue:

ETA: Nava do they still come around at intermission and try to sell you more stuff at your seat? It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a French theater. I think you said Belgium. Hmm. Change the question to: do they come around and try to sell you stuff at your seat?

Not yet; I’ll get more info when I clear out the hive, but the most likely options are: simply running out of food, and effects of varroa mite. I know they had a bad infestation of varroa, but the first treatment didn’t seem to work, and my second attempt at treating- in January, may have been too late to help. There didn’t seem to be as many in the hive in January as I’d have expected.

Oddly, Sunny, cold doesn’t normally do them any harm, but mild winters can. In proper cold, they all cluster together for warmth, and they don’t burn much energy, but in a mild winter they stay active and eat all their stores, but there’s no flowers around for them to find more nectar.

February and March are the commonest times for a hive to die. It’s actually the beekeeping group tonight, and I’m sure I won’t be the only one who’s lost a hive this winter, but I only had the one, so I can’t just split another.

I’m not upset, exactly, it’s just the ‘maybe if I’d done…’ feeling that it was my mistake that killed them.

Fonzi was into Aaaykeepin’ but does anybody keep any other letters?

IME, when one goes off, for realz, they all go off, but one one starts chirping for a low battery, only that one chirps. Is one (or more) of them a combined smoke/CO detector & is it possible that it was reading a CO condition? I’d look into that posthaste, as that can be a serious, & deadly, issue.

Go catch some ZZZZs, dude.

I don’t understand why my prescription had a zero copay. It’s the beginning of the year - the copay should be at the max, shouldn’t it? Weird.

Food Lion had little loaves of brown bread - the kind you might get in a fancy-pants steak house - so I got one, plus a small steak. I’m going to saute some green beans with onions - supper has been decided.

It’s in the mid-70s and the house is wide open. I’m loving it. More of the same tomorrow, then winter returns. I shall enjoy it while I can!

We have supped. I make good red beans ‘n rice if’n I do say so myself which I do. I am in the process of makin’ two gallons of sweet tea to take to the church house tomorrow. I said I’d do that so do it I shall. Other than that chillage ensues.

I just closed the wndows here, it was starting to get a bit chilly.
We have had a good breeze all day too.

The critters are happy because I sat outside with them and they love that.
Ripple and I sat out front for a while too. Our neighbor was out, Ripple remembered and was happy to see her.

The vet says I should get Ripple a bordetella and flu shot before going to the dog park, so we need to go in for that.
Ripple also ate a paper towel today, really only one of the half towels. The vet said he should be okay.

I will be so happy when he can’t fit through the kitty door in the gate anymore.
We can’t close it because fat ass cat can’t get over the gate without knocking it over.

Chicken with broccoli and cheese for dinner tonight.

FCM I never understood prescription co-pays. Last year the first 3 times I picked up my meds I had a $30+ co-pay. The last time I had no co-pay. My friend has no co-pay for anything except when the doctor wrote her a script for Vitamin D, then she had to pay the full price. I get the vitamins are over the counter, but she was getting some mega dose Vitamin D. Then again I don’t know why she couldn’t just buy OTC Vitamin D and take several at a time.

If you don’t pay a lot for it, you don’t get well.

Mom would complain if she were hanged with a new rope. :dubious:

nava, I’ve seen exactly one movie in French: 1942. Had I not been with someone much more fluent than I whispering some of the lines in English, I would have been lost.

I’m sorry about your bees nuts.

ruble, it’s been warm enough here that I’ve seen a number of bikes out during the past couple of days.

Moooooom, I’m starting a Mumper pool on which Pixar movie you’ll take the tyke to first.

sunny, like spidey, I’d have your place checked for CO issues.

I got a lot done at irk today. Got this evening’s chores done and am ready to chill in the studio after supper.

Mump on!

I am so puny. I have zero energy. It nearly killed me to go to irk today. Is it possible I am still suffering the effects of anesthesia from 12 days ago? Hubs says I am pale. I just want to curl up in the fetal position and sleep for days. Woe is me for sure.

Ya know, Red, I think I woulda put a comma after “bees”.

It’s been a quiet day here in Bumbatown today. Took the doggios to get baths and haircuts. OMS was very upset as the last time I took him somewhere in the car it hurt!

Dinner tonight will be down-and-dirty curry.

Gotta go. Wifey wants her computer back.

I have other CO detectors, and they haven’t made a peep. I’ll keep an eye on them.

Thunder and lightning.
The dog is usually very, very frightened is asleep on the couch.

Rrrrrrrrrrr!

Commas save lives

You’re a little off in your lyrics.’
*♪Thunderbolt and lightning,
Very, very frightening me.

Magnifico-o-o-o-o.

I’m just a poor boy, nobody loves me.
He’s just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity.

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go. (Let him go!)
Bismillah! We will not let you go. (Let him go!)
Bismillah! We will not let you go. (Let me go!)
Will not let you go. (Let me go!)
Never let you go (Never, never, never, never let me go)
Oh oh oh oh
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Oh, mama mia, mama mia (Mama mia, let me go.)
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me.♫*

Perhaps a cat will sit on his face and suck the breath out of him.

There are more obnoxious people the Beelzebub should be concerned with that Spiderbutt.
Yes, it is difficult to imagine, but it is true.

I did run the bike; no issues except for some mud and junk right behind the garage. Felt good to blow the stink off. Work was work; nothing special there at all.

I have replaced batteries and checked all smoke detectors and CO detectors. I found 2 bad units, but otherwise everything is up and running again.

I’m not happy about the training the kids are getting about what to do if there’s a shooter on campus. I’ll be talking to them about situational awareness and assessment.

Snow has started again. We’ll see if anything sticks overnight.

Worked, came home napped. Made herbed chicken with roasted potatoes with Herbs de Province, and sauteed asparagus. Wathicn the nUSA/Csech hockey game.

Sorry, Nut.

Butters, 12 days is a little long. Maybe talk to your doc?
