Cheese!
zoid is a genius. Screw cheese, can I change my answer and expand this to “alcohol”?
This is exactly why I picked pizza. Going by the to go menus in my drawer, I can slap any ol’ thing I like on a slab o’ dough and call it pizza! Ergo, *everything *is free! ![]()
(Well, okay, maybe not soup.)
Another vote for cheese.
Cheese is why my cholesterol will never be low. If it had the magic power of not being bad for me, I would be delighted.
Potatos, fried, baked, roasted, mash, hash browns, chips(French Fries).
Love 'um to death.
So many great suggestions but given that sugar was ruled as too broad a category I’m going to go for cheese please.
Can I vote coffee?
Yes, you will get full; that does not change. What is different is that your one food is not bad for your health in any way. In fact, it is healthy for you.
Pizza it is. Since I’m not going to save any money, and I can’t just keep eating it without feeling full, that’s my choice. It’s an often greasy, unhealthy food, that for some reason I can eat a lot of without feeling full. I put way too much thought into this.
chips, incl. tortilla.
chocolate!!!
As a diabetic, I’m have to limit my carb intake to next to nothing.
There are a few foods I really miss. Sweets, pizza, potatoes, rice and pasta. I might have a nibble every once in a while but I can’t eat a full serving without issue.
It’s a tough call, but I think I would go for pasta as my choice. Potatoes are a close second.
Until I started hanging around here, I never realized how many folks share my deep, deep love for the cheese.
Just sayin’.

From the OP:
But you get to choose just one food. And you may never change it.
Enjoy your cheese, Diana. ![]()

Chicken Pad Thai. I ate it pretty much non-stop for over two years. I’ve only stopped because of the cost and the desire to be more healthy.
Free as in I have to pay for it? The fuck? Forget it then; if I could afford to make food choices independent of cost, I still wouldn’t be counting calories.
May I suggest you close this poll and replace it with one that actually says what you mean?
Vegetarian choice: Ben & Jerry’s
Meat choice: Bacon bacon bacon bacon
Drink choice: Coffee

Huh? he says right in the OP what he means:
This food, once so designated by yours truly, has virtually zero calories. Zero sodium. In fact, zero of anything that is bad for you. What it does have is a mysterious ability to improve your overall health. I have built into it a safety mechanism that renders it impossible for this food to harm your body in any way, no matter how much you ingest.
See, says what he means…right there. Perhaps you might make a poll asking what it is that you mean?
Outrageous answer: Long Pig, with all laws and taboos against it gone.*
Real answer: Beef (if that’s too broad, I’ll go with steak).
*Having said this now, I wonder how long the world’s population would last if everyone ate Long Pig?

I’ll allow beef.
But it is only the beef; not the bun to the burger nor the sauce in the Stroganoff.

Just one, Annie-X!
However, you can do ice cream (not just B&J) or pork (not just bacon).
Coffee seems an odd consideration.
