Maybe Movie Theatre Guy is a creepy pervert maybe he’s not, don’t know- haven’t met him. Though I do think the whole hiding in the bathroom was pretty silly.
I just don’t get how a sexually active teenager suddenly becomes victimized when a choice is made to explore an older sex partner. This is a 15 year old girl asserting her sexuality and choosing her partners exploring and experimenting.
Has she been victimized in the past in a situation where she wasn’t the one making a proactive choice? Is Movie Theatre Guy manipulating her and/or inflicting mental or physical cruelty? The OP doesn’t give us any information to suggest any of that.
It is a great leap to go from “she can’t give legal consent” to “she’s completely incapable making a choice and entering into this relationship willfully and consentually.” The first statement may be true, but the second statement wasn’t true of me when I was 15, it wasn’t true of my highschool girlfriend, it wasn’t true of most of my highschool friends. Yes, it was true of some of them- and it’s true of some 20-somethings I know. Is it true of Madison? Don’t know- haven’t met her.
What I can tell from the OP is that she is sexually active by choice and has chosen to seek out a relationship with an older person. Regardless of whether or not the age difference is “creepy”, this certainly doesn’t qualify as “molestation”.
She’s only a year away from being legally able to give consent in 31 States. How does something that is a brutally damaging criminal act inflicted upon Madison 2004 suddenly become perfectly O.K. for Madison 2005? And why will it still be a brutally damaging criminal act in New York but not if she were living in Oklahoma?
