It’s back, I thought the second episode was good. Maybe not quite as good as the first, but it had plenty of laugh out loud and touching moments.
I thought the second episode was pretty bad. But the preview for next week has Annie Potts as Sheldon’s **MeeMaw **and that I have to see.
I’m also looking forward to Annie Potts as Meemaw. But I actually kinda liked episode 2. It wasn’t great, and is definitely riding the coattails of TBBT, but I really expected it to be more of a trainwreck than it is.
The actors who play Sheldon’s family and pretty perfect, and I expected a lot less of them.
We enjoy TBBT until they start using faith as a source for a joke and magnify any hint of a believer being less than perfect as criminal hypocrisy.
That being said, we have no intention of watching Young Sheldon because we suspect it will show much, much more of it.
Besides, we don’t have cable or satellite, and it’s been a long time since we had a VCR.
I thought the 2nd episode was quite good. Laughed many times.
Esp. thought Sheldon going around and applying the Carnegie thing to people was good.
Don’t know why they didn’t have Mary more of her classic semi-racist comments when his new friend came over. Just the Dad/Nam stuff.
They glossed over Sheldon’s lack of an accent during the 1st episode. Still no explanation as to why young Missy has almost none while older Missy does.
Loved Sarah Baker as the librarian. Ook.
As I recall, there hasn’t been any of it, and it’s on CBS.
I really enjoy this show which surprises me as I’m totally off TBBT these days. It’s such a nice change to not have the incessant laugh track, too. I can’t wait for Annie Potts!
Agreed on both 100%. And for those who might hesitate to watch Young Sheldon because they don’t like BBT, it’s a very different show.
I like Annie Potts very much!
Did everyone see Vernee Watson as the nurse in the ER? I’d love to see her in flashback scenes with young Leonard in New Jersey, young Howard in California and young Raj in India.
Since you’re not watching the show, I assume you’ll never see this, but I thought this episode dealt with faith in an interesting way, without making fun of it.
Annie was fantastic as Mee-Maw!
I liked the most recent episode. Still not on par with the best of TBBT, but it was pretty good. I loved it when Sheldon raised his hand in church.
Also, they are clearly paving the way for the father’s death not to come out of nowhere when he dies in season 5, assuming there is a season 5. Zoe Perry was great at the drama in this episode. Her panic at what was happening to her husband was very good.
Best episode so far. Mee-Maw better be a fairly regular character, Annie Potts is to this show what Shelly Winters was to Rosanne.
The scene with Georgie driving MeeMaw’s car was hilarious. While Mary Cooper once called her other two children “dumb as soup,” Georgie apparently has street smarts.
Yeah, she’s a great actress! And it will be sad to see the dad die. He’s a good character!
This was the first episode I watched. Contrary to what someone said above, I think it is already better than TBBT.
I said it’s not on par with TBBT when it was at its best. TBBT has been sketchy lately, and YS seems to be getting increasingly better with each episode, so I expect that by January it will actually be much better than TBBT currently is, unless TBBT writers do something drastic-- but they may just be marking time until the end of the season.
I vaguely remember that adult Sheldon mentioned a grandfather as well as his grandmother. I thought he said the grandfather was the only one to encourage him. So can we expect to see him sometime in this show?
I only caught this part and a little more. I thought it was funny. I’ll have to go back and check out more.
I gave it another shot, and it just creeps me out, possibly for the same reason I despise Sheldon’s mother on TBBT: My Texas background. I grew up among people just like her, and there is NOTHING cute and funny about them. Same with Texas families. And that goes quadruple for Texas church congregations.
No. He died when Sheldon was four.
