Your favorite nut?

Cashews

Then peanuts, almonds and walnuts. In that order.

Black Walnuts.

Salted too. Oh, they’re full of oil and they’re expensive, but damn, they’re good.

Walnuts are full of Omega 3s, and almonds are good for you too. But give me a jar of macadamia nuts and I’ll be good and happy.

Blue Diamond Wasabi and Soy Sauce Almonds

Probably brazil nuts, followed by hazel nuts or almonds.

Macadamias are like eating chalk to me. Pine nuts literally make me vomit within a few minutes of eating them.

Pecans don’t have hands, silly cat.

For me it’s cashews followed by peanuts followed by whichever nut is surrounded by caramel and chocolate. I call that the turtle nut.

Cashews. Definitely cashews. I could go for some now. And I don’t have any. Dammit.

For baked goods hickory nuts.

To just eat cashews and pistachios. I can’t pick between the two.

For plain eating, cashews then pistachios then walnuts. For cooking/baking, I like pecans, almonds, and hazelnuts. It’s really tough. I pretty much like all nuts, and which one I prefer depends on the situation.

I’ve never met a nut that I have disliked, which is kind of amazing. I can see why some people could dislike Black Walnut. It sort of has earthy undertones with a hint of bitter in the mix. I think of it as the mushroom of the nut family, if that makes any sense. For me Macadamia nuts are probably my least favorite. Too buttery or something but I’ll still gladly grab a handful.

Yoink is the sound of me stealing this and claiming it as my own to friends and family. How do you do the coffee beans?

I love them all but I suppose I’ve eaten more almonds than any other kind.

The Blue Diamond Maui Onion and Garlic almonds are sublime. (Did you know you can buy them by the case online? I need to do some more shopping.)

Pistachios and I have a love affair going back several years now. But from peanuts come peanut butter, and from peanut butter comes Reese’s peanut butter cups, and for those I would gladly give up a limb. Or two. Or all four.

Does anyone actually like pine nuts? I tried these once and spat them immediately, and very discreetly, into the nearest garbage can.

Cashews first, Macadamias second. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

Pistachios till my thumbs are red, salt pruney, sore, and bleeding.

Really can’t get away from Beer Nuts. the Blue Diamond Hickory Smoked Almonds are my standard. Can’t get them here nor there, anymore. I can’t get the barrack foil pouches of them here anymore. Ya know, Blue Diamond pioneeresd the foil pouch freshness game long before starkist.

Cashews are definitely my favorite, but they aggravate my acid reflux something fierce. Pistachios, then, are my favorite nut that I can eat without consequence.

Peanuts. Two long years where peanuts are the staple food will make you love them. Nothing makes me happy like some hot fresh roasted peanuts.

They are so versatile- you can eat them raw or roasted, sweet or salty. Peanut butter can be used in sweet or savory dishes. Peanut oil is good to cook with. Even peanut leaves can be made in to sauce. And there are a whole world of peanut products that we never see in the US. It has got to be one of the world’s most useful foods.

Cashews are good, but they are expensive and I can’t eat as many of them. Plus, cashew fruit sucks.

Almonds make my throat scratchy. Pistachios are too much work.

Chocolate covered almonds are my goto nut during the holidays. Cheap on the drug store “house label” rack.

Cashews are absolutely #1. Besides being ultra-yummy on their own, I like to cook with them, in stir-fries and curries. Almonds are #2, and big fresh Virginia peanuts #3.

Would you all please bow your heads and observe a moment of silence for the death of the butternut trees? They’re being wiped out by some sorta canker disease. So what, you’re saying, what’s it to me? Well, lemme tell you about the butternut and chocolate butternut donuts you used to be able to get at donut shops. Outstanding…

Having said that, I also have to add that I fell in love with chocolate covered macadamia nuts in Hawaii. Those you can still get.

For now… (cue ominous music and evil mad scientist cackle)
