A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold.
My friends and I used to refer to this as “The Stalker’s Serenade.” The Allison Kraus version especially has a disarming sweetness about it. You can kind of picture the gentle southern clinginess morphing slowly into chocks and sledge hammer tactics. . .
Harry Chapin’s “Dogtown” is set in a 19th century whaling village. The men keep getting killed at sea, leaving their widows to make do as best they can. One widow ultimately takes comfort with…the dog. “The dog is closely watching. The fire glints in his eye.” It’s a bit unsettling.
You are correct. Thank you.
"Went down to the cemetary, lookin’ for love…
Got there and my baby was buried, I had to dig her up…"

Roy Clark – a classic.
Country is definitely the place for sick & twisted. How about “The Grand Tour” by George Jones… the guy’s left his house exactly the way it was the day his wife left him.
Let us not forget In Every Dream Home a Heartache by Roxy Music.
How about The Woman in the Wall by the Beautiful South.
It is not really a love song per se, but it is twisted.
Puddle Of Mudd’s She Fucking Hates Me is a love song, right?
Well, as the OP mentioned Tom Lehrer, I’ve been a fan of his short but brilliant “I Hold Your Hand in Mine” ever since I first heard it.
Obligatory “Every Breath You Take” comment.
Randy Newman: “You Can Leave Your Hat On” or “Marie”. I can’t choose between the lines “I’m drunk right now baby” or “Turn out the lights, no, all the lights” as my favorite romantic lyrics.
More from The Beautiful South: Here it is again
Also, The Killers - Jenny was a friend of mine.
Not to be out done is Amy Winehouse: You know I’m no good
And Leonard Cohen’s classic: Everybody knows.
Gotta be “I Want My Baby Back” by Jimmy Cross.
much of the album “Lovage” is pretty much along these lines,
full album link but if you skip to 53:19 or so you get Archie and Veronica which really fits this theme
